I’ll wait till I see the team sheet McKay might be in goal yet
If he is I’ll stop calling you Dave. ;)
He must he thought it was something he kneeded to do.
Well I’m sorry but I can’t take someone seriously who refers to themselves in the third person!Me neither.
fck me I could pick that to pieces but I can’t be arsed. How is my view wittering, broken record etc but your view isn’t?
Love the use of ‘End of’. You must be right then
I didn’t mention you personally Dave but if the cap fits.
I’m not wittering on about anything just responding to those who think our current management and backroom team don’t have a clue.
Well our clueless management team have shipped out the two players in question so they must believe I’m right.
To me this is a pointless argument because it is between a fan with opinions, who is not afraid to criticise his club when he feels fit to do so and the other is a fan who has never said a bad word about his club who would make a good spin doctor! Neither will back down and so this is going nowhere……Again!
I have to admit that I do find it odd how some think it is the norm to drop like a stone and that it is nothing out of the ordinary! You should read the link I put up with the relegation from The Prem stats that I put up the other day. I don’t think that we have a God given right to be in The Prem but there is nothing to say that we can’t compete in this division! This transitional period and clear out does appear to be quite unconfined and just goes to show how bad MM’s predecessors actually were despite getting the usual ‘Full Support’ from the blind faith when others suspected that things were going awry!I’m confused.
Where’s the blind faith bit Phil?Of course there’s something wrong within the team – or we wouldn’t be second from bottom. My argument with Tez is about Delort, Dicko and Riera.
Sammy’s argument is as a result of his comment on my post.
It was a bit tongue in cheek Jonny! Tez has an opinion and Sammy just seems happy regardless and always defends the club/manager or whatever! Some folk on here are saying that going down again so soon is normal and the stats clearly show that whilst not being impossible it is far from normal! The clubs that have dropped like a stone before have been clubs in dire straits financially and we are far from that! This ‘Little Wigan’ mentality and anti ‘Johnny Comes Lately’ attitude stinks if you ask me! The so called massive rise in attendances due to the JCL’s has benefited this relatively small club so much and the same trend would and has happened at all clubs in the same situation as we were!
I really do think that similar to me and my ‘Underground music scene’ tastes that some fans really are hankering for the old days when it was sort of cool and different to like an unfashionable club like Wigan! The football hipsters will be well and truly gone when we drop again and the return of good old football debate should return when people can actually say ” well that was fuckin shit today ” instead of just thinking that we are punching above our own weight! Or……Maybe there are some fans out there who want us back in non league football, now that would be uber cool ! :)
Sammy isn’t happy at all Fil, in fact he is exceedingly disappointed that his team is second from bottom of the league. What Sammy is objecting to is the constant criticism of the club by those who seem to have all the answers and witter on and on about it like a stuck record.
There is no hidden agenda at the club excluding any player from a first team start, no one is being favoured above anybody else and the manager and his staff are not clueless. The likes of Delort and Riera were not good enough. End of. If I could see it from the odd times they were tried I’m damn sure professional football people could see it working with them almost everyday.
If these players were any good they’d be starting every week and adapting to whatever system the manager decides to play. It’s not like the “one up front” format is exclusive to Wigan Athletic.
Maybe there were some bad apples in the squad and maybe that has now been addressed. We’ll have to wait and see.
Delort will be banging them in soon enough, Dicko is and Riera thought good enough to play up front on his own against Barcelona of all teams in the best league in the world.
Only good enough for a bit int Latics reserves though eh? Says more about our management and backroom teams to me and them not having a clue, possibly only playing their favourites.
Will you stop banging on about Delort!
Yes, he will be scoring goals again – back in the French second division because he wasn’t good enough to make it over here.
There hasn’t exactly been a clamour of clubs looking to sign him from us has there?
I’m taking it that you have extremely poor eyesight otherwise you’ll have seen how poor Delort has been. He’s started or come on as a sub in 11 games, and not once have I thought he showed anything that might suggest he’ll turn out to be a good signing. He looked, cocky, greedy and too lightweight – in my opinion, obviously, but I’m not a football genius or gifted judge of potential – unlike yourself.
Dicko was deemed not good enough by Martinez, Coyle and Rosler. So all three of them were clueless?
Dean Saunders didn’t rate him Wolves first time round and only used him a handful of times as a sub. Also for a majority of his time at Blackpool he was used as a sub by Holloway.
Hardly glowing references, but well done to him for scoring goals so many at Wolves. That’s the way it goes sometimes. A bit like Ellington with us compared to when he went to West Brom.
And so what if Riera played up front on his own against Barcelona. Deportivo are 14th in La Liga – so they’re currently on a par with the likes of Sunderland, Crystal Palace or West Brom. Adrian Lopez and Albert Crusat both played regularly in La Liga – and they were roaring successes at Wigan weren’t they?
(Incidentally, weren’t you criticising Wigan for playing Riera up front by himself – despite him having played as a lone striker for most of his career?)
And as for that comment about Wigan managers only playing their favourites…..
You do realise it’s not an under 9s team don’t you? The manager isn’t there to give everyone a game so they keep turning up on Sunday mornings. Of course they play their favourites. They do whatever they think is necessary to bring out the best in their squad – even it means dropping a technically excellent player on the basis that his attitude or personality is disruptive. That’s the way it works.
I don’t know why you bother responding to this idiot Jonny.
Says more about our management and backroom teams to me and them not having a clue, possibly only playing their favourites.Well I thought this was an idiotic enough statement to make to justify the claim but maybe I’m being too “loyal”. I’m sure the management and backroom staff do have a clue and are fully aware of the calibre of players at their disposal but perhaps you might want to go down there and point them in the right direction.
Sammy, please don’t get all big and brave behind a keyboard because we rarely agree. I can’t recall calling you any names or suchlike. If you post stupid, idiotic statements don’t be surprised to be called on it. A tad over sensitive there Tez if you consider that being big and brave behind a keyboard.
It says more about you than me and to be honest I’ve got hands like spades not a mouth like a bucket. And I’ve no idea what this is supposed to mean.
This may have been asked before but are you Dave from Skem by any chance?

Oh I’ve got a sense of humour alright, I’m pissing myself at you two gay lords, telling me I’m sad for having my own name on here and an opinion.Oh the irony of the 2 called Sammy and Griff! I presume you both voted to show how great a fan you’re going to be for Mighty Malky? Is he allowed to be called Malky or should I start calling him Malcolm.
Chuckle chuckle vision
What are you babbling on about? I’ve said nothing of the kind. And what has being a fan of Mackay got to do with the loyalty poll? Twisting things to suit your own agenda. Give yourself a good shake then give it a rest.
I can remember about 10 years up till Whelan taking over which were as bleak as it gets supporting a football club, without actually going bust. Anyone starting supporting after that will have only ever seen the good times, mixed with some stability and plenty will be doing the Wigan walk now.
It will become easier to stay in the pub or house this winter than wander down the Latics, that’s for sure, even for some of those Loyal voters. Grown men doing a loyalty test :silly:
Almost as silly as a grown man calling himself Tez….!
Or Griff or Sammy or anything else, its my name or my nickname, I ain’t hiding behind bald cock or some of the other shite I see. At last you won the most pointless inane comment of the day award.
If you don’t find it strange, grown men voting to prove how loyal they are that is up to you Samuel or do folk call you Sammy or is it a reference to a seal? FFS
It seems everyone else viewed this Loyalty thread as a bit of fun except you “Tez” who used it for another one of your pointless mard-arse rants.

So who’s the one miserable sod that’s had enough then?
For many people the game is only part of the match day experience and, as I have said before, if it’s guaranteed enjoyment and entertainment you’re looking for then football isn’t for you.
Leeds United centre-half Jason Pearce has signed for Wigan Athletic from Leeds United for an undisclosed fee.A centre-half. Hallelujah for that.
“I believe in passing and moving the ball. We’re widening the pitch by a few yards because we want to pass and move the ball,” Coyle said.Striker Will Bruin said, “He’s telling each player, ‘Go be yourself, express yourself on the field’. He’s not worried about guys making mistakes. He says, ‘Go show me what you can do as opposed to what you can’t do; don’t be afraid to mess something up.”
A great philosophy. What could possibly go wrong?
Telling fans to fuck off for one….!
Looks like here’s here to stay if all reports are correct;-http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/former-cardiff-city-manager-malky-8514284?
When I say backroom staff, something isn’t right at the club. Too many are here with history just like the Cup winning side which has all bar gone and a fresh start for all is overly due.
You don’t often see all the backroom staff remain in place at a club when a new manager takes over and after 2 managers ? I cant say I know of many. We need wholesale changes at the club players and staff alike. People mention Jewell, not for me. He was brilliant for club and keep it that way , , , , was
That’s just Whelan being tight (copyright, Bickymon) so he doesn’t have to pay out any redundancy/compensation payments.
Let’s hope he’s a player who doesn’t want to hoof the ball and can form a good partnership with Cowie so the moo-ve will benefit everyone.
