EXACTLY the same happened in w/ham v everton game, 2 identical challenges (like nani’s) and TWO red cards (c.cole & d.gibson)…
which were both recinded by the FA.
This one won’t be though, even if there is an appeal.Different attitude to challenges such as Nani’s in European games.
He must have been aware there was an opposing player going for that ball otherwise there was no need for him to have his foot so high up. He also knew he was on dodgy ground because he feigned injury in an attempt to diminish the recklessness of his challenge and stop the referee making an immediate, and therefore rash, decision. And Ferguson….!
I have long though the man has far too much influence in the English game. He puts pressure on referees not to make decisions against Man United, especially at Old Trafford, and rants and raves when things don’t go his way. It refreshing to see that pressure not having any effect in Europe.
A hypocritical, bullying egomaniac. I mean, not speaking to the media because he was too angry and upset! How old is this man?
Retire now. The game will be much the better without him.
I’m the Dalai Lama….!
Maybe Tonto just found out that The Lone Ranger sold Scout to a meat processing plant.
…please drop Al Habsi, Caldwell, McCarthy and Beausejour.Bring in Robles, Alcaraz, Espinoza and McManaman, there’s a good manager.
Robles? Worth a try. Can’t be any worse than Al Habsi who’s confidence seems shot to pieces and struggles to even catch a ball at the moment.
Alcaraz for Caldwell? A fully fit Alcaraz for anybody really.
Espinoza for McCarthy? Eh? I know McCarthy had a stinker yesterday but…. Espinoza is too slow and very often gets caught in possession. Skeptical of players who’s feet are at ten to two.
McManaman for Beausejour? He’s just not ready yet to play 90 minutes in the Prem. Doesn’t have the defensive nouse or attributes Beausejour provides to cover for Figueroa’s appalling positional play.
I will be honest, I thought Golobart was for the scrapheap until i saw him more than once. Frig me, He will be playing for a superstar team in a couple of years. I have never seen (bar De Zeeuw) a more confident and composed centre half in a Latics shirt. Since 1993 at least. That would be the Golobart you saw against the might of Macclesfield and Huddersfield then would it?
Stam can play on the left and although like JB is not good defensively he can take a man on and put in numerous crosses. Just my opinion mind !Are you really suggesting that Stam is a better proposition at LWB than Beausejour?
These stats consist of very fine lines, for instance his ratio of assists to games is 0.23 ( 6 from 26 games ) whereas Kone has a ratio of 0.22 ( 5 from 23 games )Maloney isnt too far behind with a ratio of 0.20 ( 5 from 25 games ) Very fine lines I think you will agree ! A more interesting stat to me is the fact that he has started 43 games for us in all comps and not scored a single goal yet ! Bloody rubbish !Everytime someones tries to quote statistics and “facts” in an attempt to justify their opinion of him being rubbish/awful etc they end up arguing the opposite.
OK, so he’s not scored and maybe that is a criticism but I fail to see who else is available that is better suited to that left wing-back role.I just think technically he is an awful player. Majority of his passes go to the opposition. Out of position a lot. The fact he assists the majority of our goals doesn’t make up for his awful all round play.
What a load of bollocks….!
Didn’t respond to your initial reply to me for a reason, if you didn’t notice, I don’t wish to discuss this with you, stop stalking my posts. Thank You B)
Still talking bollocks.I just think technically he is an awful player. Majority of his passes go to the opposition. Out of position a lot. The fact he assists the majority of our goals doesn’t make up for his awful all round play. What a load of bollocks….!
it wouldn’t have taken much of a pass to eclipse his previous best contribution !Perm any one from five then.
The fact Jeany B has been mentioned as join 10th in the table of assists this season caught my eye on another thread.
I have to admit I was a bit shocked as I have been critical of him this season maybe not as relentlessley as others on here but I dont think he has had a good season by my expectations of him.
It got me thinking what are my expectations of him? quite frankly I dont expect to see him racing back down the line to make a last ditch tackle on a winger at a critical moment in the way Leighton Baines used to do for us.
I dont expect (but would probably like him to a bit more) run at fullbacks taking it past them and putting him in a great position to cross the ball.
What I do expect from him is that he provides assists to the team.
Well the statistics dont lie folks and while he is joint 11th not joint 10th according to the espn assists table the fact he has provided as many assists this as seasons media darling Santi Cazorla of Arsenal speaks wonders in itself.
What speaks more for this from our personal expeience is he is 2 assists ahead of Leighton Baines and Antonio Valencia.
If someone told me that this morning I would of told them they were talking out of their arse.
So in summary I think my expectations of this season were based on how well he did when he joined us last season.
I think in that time he was aided by the fact teams seemed bemused by the LWB position and the position he would take up on the pitch.
More full backs have been instructed to come out and meet the wing backs this season but I think its fair to say his assists are invaluable to us and our relegation battle for the rest of 2013.
He is f**king garbage.
He has lost possesion more times than I care to think. Probably lost us games/points too. The reason he has as many assists as Cazorla (And others) will be due to the fact he puts nearly ALL of our crosses/balls in as he does have a decent cross, it isn’t always consistent but it can be good and we slightly rely on him to put the balls in, whereas Arsenal don’t need Cazorla to put all of their balls in.
Speaking of garbage I suggest you read what you’ve just posted here and try again if your intention is to slag him off.Just watched Reading highlights again. Scharner’s first half challenge on the Russian guy was awesome. The determination he showed to get back and get in such a clean challenge was impressive. If the whole team can show that kind fight and effort for the rest of the season we have a very good chance of staying up. I’m guessing the back 3 that started last Saturday will be our first choice for the run in? I’m sure Alcaraz will get a full run in the FA Cup but I’m guessing he will be used as back up in the run in?
I think Gary Neville made a very good point last night (in fairness he’s not a bad analyst) about beausajour for the second goal. He took a chance in closing down Morrsion who then lost the ball in midfield that lead to our second. If Morrison had managed to flick the ball to Kelly as a result of Beausajour committing himself Kelly could have had a free run down the right. If Reading had scored some fingers would have pointed at Beaujasour. Instead we are talking about his ‘pass of the season’. As Neville said these are the small margins in football.
It was a decent pass no more no less but to be calling it the pass of the season !! I see passes like that week in week out on MOTD and the likes !
Decent?? You’re hard pleased. I thought it was a fantastic pass myself.
If golden boy Wilshire had made that pass the plaudits would still be telling us how wonderful he is.Beausejour tenth in all season stats for assists in Premier League. Not bad for what many believe is a fat waster on the wing!
Not quite sure why you’ve mentioned Beausejour here unless it’s a veiled reference to the notion he provides a substantial amount of cover for Figueroa. However, that statistic is not a surprise to me. I’m also not surprised no one has mentioned his superb pass for Kone’s second goal yesterday because that would mean a good number of numpties on here having to back track on their opinion of him being “a fat waster on the wing”.
Let’s have it right Sammy, Beausejour has hardly set the prem alight this season has he. He had one of his better games against Reading for sure but for too many games this season he has been average.
He’s not the only one in a Wigan shirt who has “hardly set the prem alight this season” though is he, so why single him out? However, as bigroy stated in an earlier post, “Beausejour (is) tenth in all season stats for assists in Premier League”. Assuming that is correct, and I’ve no reason to believe it isn’t, that is “tenth” in the entire Premier League so his place in the team can be justified on that statistic alone.
Some people just don’t see, or don’t want to see, the bigger picture. As I understand it the away end won’t be “packed out” either so what should we make of this? Liverpool isn’t a football city?
No, I’m not Graeme Jones. I’m just a spectator in the Springfield Stand. So you are Graeme Jones then!
