How the heII has this site degenerated into this?.Worse than parIiamant at PM,s question time.

This is what happens when you have too many football free weekends at the start of the season. The kiddies, bored and starved of their football fix, just run amok.

      I blame FIFA.

I don’t think Rooney is anywhere near mentally mature enough to lead a national side. He is far to petulant. Beckham is the best captain we have had for a while.

I disagree. I think the qualities you need for being a worthy captain are having the respect of your team mates, being able to motivate players on the field of play and to lead by example. Rooney ticks all those boxes. I also think the extra responsibility of being captain would temper his petulance and make him a more mature and effective player. Beckham was petulant but was a good captain. Rooney would be the same. For me a good call by Hodgson.

Anyone who has dealt with the NHS lately will surely be able to relate.

Red (Sticky) TapeGo private Griff. It’s the only way. It’s against my morals but the company – and me in some part – pays for it so I use it.

I didn’t even notice but my 9yr old son asked why are they not playing the music when we score!! i’ve never been a lover but he loves it.. Quite like watching them doing the jig as they get a real kick out of it…
if it keeps the future generation happy….

Of course he does, he’s nine. Kids like naff things when they are nine. And is he likely to say I don’t want to go watching Latics anymore because they don’t play music after we score?

I noticed they didnt play it today after our goals went in and it was wonderful to cheer the goals naturally without that cr@p snark music booming out.
Hated it with a passion from day on and i always thought it fired up the opposing team and supporters.
I wasnt at the Stoke game due to holidays and missed Kones goal against Dulham.
#Was it played after the goals at those games?

That was the first game this season where it hasn’t been played and long may it continue. It was great to be able to celebrate without that embarrassing, naff, cringeworth crap drowning out the natural and spontaneous reaction to a goal.

Have you been spying on me?

Of course I have. A stalkers paradise on here don’t you know!

Oh, and while I have your attention can you tell me why that red card for Gomez was rescinded, seeing as he clearly went into the challenge with his studs showing, plus the fact that it also involved golden boy Webb who has now been shown to be less competent that we have been led to believe.

Next time you post on this thread I will put my fingers in my ears and repeat loudly ‘La, la, la, la…’

I’d give up now SW like I had to do once with Tyldesley. I was starting to lose the will to live.

                        Oh, and he’s a referee don’t you know, which explains a lot….! ;)

It might have something to do with the fact that Di Santo and Alcaraz are injured…..

Well exactly! (shakes head in disbelief at missing the bleedin’ obvious)

Just watched MOTD and I’m sorry that is never a straight red

I’m afraid under the current interpretation of the laws it is.
If you go sliding in with your studs showing you run the risk of being given a red card. A few years ago it wouldn’t have been.

I’ve not heard any statement from the club saying they intend to appeal which is wise because it would not be rescinded.

The only issue with incidents like this is the inconsistency from referees. By the same strict interpretation Larsson should also have been red carded for his challenge on Kone and so should Welbeck for his challenge on Di Santo the other week.

The frustrating thing is that you don’t get an explanation from referees as to why they made those decisions which is deliberate because in many cases it would mean they would have to own up to getting things wrong. That would be an admission of incompetence, leaving them wide open to criticism. Managers and the media would have a field day.

On the way to the last home game of the 2010-11 season against West Ham there was a Latics fan on BBC Radio Manchester giving his views. He was very articulate and factual (some of you may know who that was). Anyway the presenter he was speaking with was Jack Dearden who, as you will no doubt be aware, covers Bolton and Wigan RLFC games for Radio Manchester. The inevitable question cropped up about Latics attendances and that it must be difficult for them with Wigan being a rugby town, etc., etc., etc.

Our man mentioned, quite correctly, that Latics’ average attendance for each season in the Premiership had been greater than that of the rugby. Deardon stopped him and asked if he was sure, in a manner that suggested he – our Latics man – was talking out of his arse. The fact was presented to Dearden again to which he responded along the lines of, “well I hear what you say but I’d be very surprised if that were the case”.
Now, we’re talking about a local radio presenter here who reports on Wigan rugby and yet, assuming he wasn’t extracting the urine, didn’t know this very basic fact.

Leaving aside the tedious issue of who is the better supported and by that I mean home fans through the turnstiles, which we all seem to agree is more or less the same, this little story sums up in a nutshell the misinformation that seems to be set in stone within the media regarding the support for both clubs.
