its only recently that liverpool have fired their managers quickly, they were generally given a decent shot.
I believe Dalglish would most certainly have been given another season in charge if it weren’t for his mis-handling of the Suarez affair and liabilty in dealing with the media. What Martinez lacks in experience is most certainly offset by his expertise in dealing with the media.
He’s been given permission to speak to Liverpool, that’s all, and it appears other contenders have also been approached. I also expect West Brom and Villa to ask permission to do the same and if I were Martinez I wouldn’t pass up the opportunity. It doesn’t mean he’s going and it doesn’t mean he’ll stay.
I’m not in the habit of defending Liverpool fans but I can understand their concerns. At the end of January we were nailed on certainties for relegation so why would they be happy about wanting Martinez as their manager. And why would Liverpool take what is a massive risk on someone so inexperienced at the highest level. It’s one thing to keep a team up on a shoestring budget but completely different if the expectation is at least Champions League football.
I thought we’d moved on from signing journeymen.
Steve Bruce with Eric Black as his assistant would be my choiceThere’s about as much chance of that happening as I have of going to the moon a week next Tuesday.
Let’s keep it realistic, eh.Nice profile pic !! Well I have the same guitar as he had ( Natural finish hollow body Epiphone Casino ), I wear the same hat he used to wear a lot and I use the 2 fingered peace sign on a daily basis !
Good work man !I would have been more impressed if you’d said you are a proud owner of a 1958 Rickenbacker 325 Capri.
I have a 360 12 string !
I have a 1975 4001.
And I’ve got a 72 Strat, because I wanted to play like Hendrix.Unfortunately I soon found out you need talent as well as the guitar.
I find being talentless is an advantage, certainly this day and age.Nice profile pic !! Well I have the same guitar as he had ( Natural finish hollow body Epiphone Casino ), I wear the same hat he used to wear a lot and I use the 2 fingered peace sign on a daily basis !

It is a well known fact that Nob End lost quite a number of fans to Blackburn.
The bloke and his wife across the road from me, who until last season religiously followed Preston home and away, decided to get a season ticket for Blackburn. Not too sure I’d be happy with Mr & Mrs Chinnery if they decided to transfer to Latics next season!
They will need vetting properly before we give them their tickets !! ;)
I think we can all rest easy. Daughter and son-in-law are avid worriers fans plus he’s never been too happy about Latics making it to the Prem and Preston not.It is a well known fact that Nob End lost quite a number of fans to Blackburn. The bloke and his wife across the road from me, who until last season religiously followed Preston home and away, decided to get a season ticket for Blackburn. Maybe everyone else is as deficient in foresight as yourself and why they have not answered your question.
Whilst we can all put forward very sound reasons why he should stay I’m sure Martinez would leave should the right offer come along. What that offer might be is anyone’s guess but I think he is likely to be more receptive to offers – I believe he didn’t even speak to Villa last time – this time around.
So getting back to my original hypothetical question, who’s out there if he “does” decide to leave ?.I don’t know. Perhaps you should have a go at answering the question and impress us all with your foresight.
well must say was great talking with you griff
years since i had a pint in there good to see alot of old faces once again ;)I also had a chat with Griff at half-time – he must have been on a mission yesterday to meet up with as many of his cyber “friends” as possible – and he told me he’d spoken with you.
He also said you look nothing like your dad….! ;)Gary Caldwell for me too, by a mile. Not just for the way he’s played recently but for his leadership and organisation on the pitch. Superb captain both on and off the field. Well done.
I hope everyone enjoys themselves on Sunday and the team get a fantastic reception, unlike Saturday when it will be more like a wedding reception!
