So it’s the managers fault even though our star players massively underperformed 🤷♂️
Please give us your wisdom on who gets the job in his place?
Glass half empty as usual.
Yes he’s had 2 years dogged by injury but I’d rather take heart from his year before that when by all accounts he was smashing it enough for Liverpool to pay £6.5m for him
And now Kerr has signed as well. Should stop all the negativity towards the owners interests in the club………but it won’t!!!
Great to read the ever ending optimism has extended to the close season
The 2 free tickets I got for my sons mates wouldn’t scan but they let them in anyway 🤷♂️
I agree with you regards his affect on the team. Had more poor games than good games (Bolton being his best performance).
I just think people are reading too much into why he has gone back early
Bloody rubbish Lostock, can’t even get the scorers right 🙄🤣
The very next line reads
“It’s a personal reason, we’ll see what happens”
Then when asked if he’ll be back at Latics by the end of the season he replied “Maybe”
How do people get there is a bust up from that? Talk about people creating an agenda over what could be nothing other than a family problem back home?
Good post CW
Definitely need to work on a plan B in the Summer when playing against the “shite” teams.
Players like Matty Smith and Thelo need to play way further forward instead of being on the defenders toes all the time.
Our system works really well against the good teams but we have to be a lot more positive against the “sit in deep” teams.
Just read the ’12th Man’ collumn that Kendrick churns out with comments from the same old folk who love to blow smoke up the clubs arse on a regular basis.
I keep seeing comments of people saying ‘we are safe’, er not quite. We have 4 games left and 3 are away games that I haven’t got any hope for. One is against a club being revived by a new manager, Charlton, then there is Lincoln who are battling to go up, and then Portsmouth who are going for the title. If we lose these 3 and Cheltenham are picking up points, it could be squeaky bum time. They we’ve got Bristol Rovers at the DW last game. With how we’ve been, I can’t say I’d be confident of beating them.
Nobody can defend Maloney and how bad we are, surely?
Anybody who doesn’t think it’s all too bad, I hope you enjoy the 5000 crowds next season unless things change.
You won’t need new underpants for a squeaky bum Vat69. Mathematically safe already
No way is Steve Bruce anywhere near within our budget
I do agree CW.
We have had some very very good wins against the better teams and looked a good team.
But you are right, he has to find a way to play against the “rubbish” in the division. He needs to let the shackles off and play further forward. Here’s hoping that happens next season.
I do believe there is probably a fair bit of negativity in the camp from players who know they won’t be there next season. Some of these players are big characters and likely have a fair bit of influence.
These players will have gone next season and it’s a completely clean slate. Maloney deserves at least next season to build the team with players who want to be there. I know most supporters genuinely HOPE he can take us forward. I believe he actually CAN take us forward.
Someone pointed out on this forum that our best days were under Jewell. PHOENIX pointed out that we finished mid table in league one in Jewell’s first season. The financial mess we are in (and it is a mess and it is still ARE IN and not WERE IN) is not a quick fix. We have to be patient and not be so entitled.
I’ll probably be labelled a happy clapper for this post but I don’t care. I watched our first ever home game in 1978 and I’ve been a permanent supporter since 1984 so I have seen some proper rubbish. Fans claiming some matches are the worst they have ever seen need to rewatch games from the Kenny Swain and Warren Joyce eras.
Shaun Maloney (along with Gregor Rioch) stuck by this club when it was on its arse. I watched him at Burnley away last season when it had come out again they weren’t getting paid and he looked a broken man. He could have walked but he didn’t. So when you keep questioning why some (majority) fans sing his name and clap at the end, maybe you should remember why that might be. It’s not just because he’s a Wigan legend in his own right. The man helped save this club.
Happy clapper or not, SM has my support and the support of my 2 teenage sons for the foreseeable future
You keep bleating on about these 5000 crowds but yet the crowds are remaining the same, if not, even increasing.
Others complain about fans staying at the end and applauding.
Most fans aren’t permanently negative about everything. I know it hasn’t been great of late but this is what happens to teams when they have nothing to play for at the end of a season. We are just not used to it as we are always fighting promotion or relegation.
And yes we are safe, there’s no squeaky bum time.
Whoever he asks for Phoenix he will be screaming for him to be sacked half way through the season!!!
Some fans are just fans so they can moan. Don’t hear a chirp from them when we win
Luckily had to work today so didn’t have to endure it, but the Mrs and kids have gone down and suffered it.
Season just needs to end and get rid of those who are only around for the stupid money they are being paid.
It’s a unique feeling for Latics fans to watch a team who are “already on the beach” at the end of a season. We are not used to mid table finishes
