Cant remember too much about this Mon it was donkeys years ago though but I’m sure he popped up with a few can anyone else recall his stint at Latics?.
David Shearer just remembered, so I looked him up he scored 9 goals in 11 games in the old 4th division. Bet you would take a loanee with them stats now Donny eh?.
Antonio Valencia, Amr Zaki, Maynor Figueroa, Ali Al Habsi, and Yanick Wildschut.
They were decent loans
Five excellent loans there Standish and we have probably had many more good ones. These were however loaned with a view to a permanent move whereas the shit we have loaned this season have been loaned with a view of taking what available shite was there just for the sake of it.
Lets be honest, would you sign any of this seasons loans permanently irrespective of which league we are in next season.?
Can’t argue with that.I think this season’s loans have been make-weights.
Alex Bruce, for instance. Why?
Yes, but would the likes of Yosser and trueidiot have the balls to stand up and say that in a public forum and be able to provide proof?I think we all know the answer to that.

Rumour i heard about grigg is he lost is rag kicked ball into crowd hit a child full in the face and Wouldn’t say sorry
Then their was a bust up in a meeting between him and another person over the incident and he was told he would never play for the club again._._but rumours are just that or are they ?Absolute bollocks!
Grigg did kick the ball into the crowd, but straight after that game my son and his mate had a photo with him and he was happily chatting with fans outside the stadium.
He’s injured. We saw him hobble past on crutches last week!
Well if Barrow fails again Sharpie will have the pleasure of sacking him again its probably the only way we will be rid of him so time will tell. My worry is the reaction on attendances next season. This is interesting viewing / reading.
I don’t think Barrow even wants the job even if he pulls off the impossible.
And he confirmed that for the most part he’s had little input with previous managers.

Burnley investing 11 million in purpose built facilities whilst they have their time in the Prem. Meanwhile we fudged along at Christopher park talking about it then managed to get a knockdown price on Boltons old one.
The difference is, when Burnley got to the Premier League they had a forward thinking manager, CEO and Chairman, and when we first got there, we didn’t.
Jewell put no emphasis on developing youth, and Bruce pretty much stifled it in in order to direct all the funds in the first team.
As I said earlier, it was only when Martinez came in and when JJ replaced Brenda Spence that the plan to build an academy was hatched.
Burnley FC probably own Turf Moor and their Academy after two previous journeys into Premier League football and have a sound financial footing. We had eight years in that league, cup runs and huge player sale revenue and four years of parachute payments and have very little in assets and are flying towards league one at a rate of knots.
That was my point.Prior to Martinez and JJ coming into the club, there was no planning for youth development – and all available funds were thrown at the first team to try and keep us up.
Simply, Burnley planned better than us.
The club is run as a much tighter ship these days, but in the earlier days of our time in the Premier League, no so.
Ahhh memoriesWhat ever happened to scoffy, or griff for that matter
If you have a pre-match pint in the Brickmakers, you can meet both of them.
And Filmoss too if you’re prepared to stand outside!
Can you ask them why Barrow is still chief coach despite a turnover of several managers? Why do new managers never seem to bring their own backroom staff with them these days! Our last two manager have no assistants or coaches to bring with them!

Lets face it, Christopher Park is hardly a Top Academy type set up is it. I’m not talking the likes of City but a modern new Academy to attract young players from the surrounding Prem clubs.
Lets see,
Boselli or an Academy ?Hindsight’s a wonderful thing though.
‘No, don’t buy the top scorer in Argentinian football. We want you to put the money towards building an academy instead’ said all the Wigan fans at the time….
….but offset that against the cost of going down to League One…might have been worth it.
Not many people know the Championship as he does.
I know that, you know that, but unfortunately the people running our football
club don’t!Fine line between running a football club and ruining a football club, one letter to be precise!
Neil Warnock was never going to take a job at Wigan. He lives in Cornwall and his wife is battling breast cancer. Cardiff provide him with a car and driver to take him to and from his house.
There’s a shortage of good building land for properties so those few residents who would prefer a peaceful life wont stand a chance.
That land will only go up in value and if it was bought under the club then it’s the property of the club.
But back to my point, it wouldn’t have cost the earth to build up an Academy in comparison what we wasted over the years.Euxton cost the club 2.2 million and considering the money we’ve wasted on certain players (I haven’t got all day to list them) I cannot figure out why some wasn’t set aside and an Academy made are number 1 priority.
An as for “wages” took the money ?,before we took the drop we had the lowest wage bill of all the established teams in the Prem. We had FA Cup money , and Europa money the year after but we felt it wasnt the right thing to do and by that time it was way toooo late in the day as the money was used to try and get back in the Prem.
I’m in no doubt that, that very bad decision not to go ahead with it will come back to bite us on the harse while young talent in and around the North go elsewhere simply because of whats on offer and that’s no disrespect to the lads running the show now.
As far as I’m aware there’s still uncertainly hanging over the Charnock Richard site, which I’ve heard are due to conservation issues – hence why it’s still lying undeveloped.
But that’s just hearsay.
On the finances though, yes we did have the lowest wage bill in the Premier League, but we also had the lowest income (read these)

So they never exactly had spare cash lying around.
The club only started to really tighten purse-strings and look at producing players through an academy when Martinez was appointed and when Jonathan Jackson replaced Brenda Spence.
So how many houses will they be able to fit on the old golf course? Who bought the land? The club or was it Whelan’s own money? If it’s the club’s money then surely there will be some massive return one day right? Can football clubs do such business? So many questions! I did suspect that it was never going to be an academy though !
Yes it was but LCC put too many barriers in place. I am guessing the land was bought by Mr Whelan, not the club. So when he sells it on it will recoup his money.
BTW, where the hell do you think the money came from to buy the Bolton’s old training ground? Even more investment that he will NEVER see again.
I’ve not a clue, do elucidate!
Doesn’t seem to have Mr Whelan’s name on this very official looking document, in fact it says ‘Wigan Athletic Football Club’ You’ll no doubt worm your way out of it saying WAFC is Dave Whelan but in the eyes of the taxman I think you will find that the 2 are not the same!

It’s probably still owned by the club. But seeing at the guide-price at auction was only £650k, and the local residents were up in arms about anyone building there, I doubt it will be a huge windfall when the club do sell it on.In the end it was simply cheaper to buy a ready-made one off Bolton during their closing down sale.
Pretty sure he had two games – Birmingham and BristolYep. I think you’re right.
