Always had a thing for her and she just gets sexier with age.
Also wouldn’t mind having a pop at Kay Burley.
Surprised nobody has mentioned our Brenda yet.

..and Brenda would make you a lovely cup of tea afterwards.

in reply to: KANU? #8970

Getting back to topic, Kanu has signed a one year deal -not a one month deal – with Pompey, so he’s unavailable anyway. (The BBC reported it prematurely, as he was initially a month’s deal until a longer contract was negotiated)

For the record, he’s as static and as injury prone as Sibierski, and is on something like £50k a week.
Poor signing.

Joanna Lumley has to be up theer

Unfortunately not up the Kaiber though, if the urban legend is true ! :D
what is the legend? please tell
She was a lover of Columbian marching powder in the sixties, and her preferred method of taking it was to have it shoved up her ricker. Basically, it did to her back bum what it did to Daniella Westbrook’s nose, and she now has a plastic replacement.

in reply to: Who was the best header of a ball to play for the Tics? #8952

At the risk of getting slated, Breckin, De Vos and McCulloch were all great headers of the ball, but in terms of always getting a head to the ball, very few ever beat Heskey in the air. Not always accurate, but nine times out of ten, his head was first to it.

And more controversially, Chimbonda had the leap of a much taller man and was rarely beaten in the air.

No offence taken!

I sincerely hope some of these people who still spout drivel on here are wind-ups, or electroconvulsive therapy may have to be adopted to get the point home.

It’s all fine and well people saying ‘sack the board’, but who on earth is going to step in and take over.

In all honesty, my eyes were opened with that finance thing that someone (I’m sorry I forget who) posted on here last week. Until then, I had been full of criticism for Whelan, calling him a tight so and so for not spending money on players.
However as it transpires that our clubs outgoings are something like 42 million, and our incomings are around 38 million, it doesn’t actually leave us with a lot to play with, does it?
Add the fact that our debts have been offset by loans arranged between Whelan and Barclays bank, and it really madce me think a lot differently, and see what position we are in. Other clubs such as Blackburn, are in the same boat. They sold Santa Cruz, and we sold Valencia. And neither of us are loaded from it. A sad indictment on todays game? It’s a sad indictmant of the world in general, as it happens.

After learning this, I now get the picture. Without Whelan sorting these loans out, we’d be a lot worse off. In trouble, most likely. So I think people need to look further into it, before saying ‘sack the board’.

I discussed it with some chaps who sit near me on Saturday, and they were shocked, but came around to the same way of thinking, which is there is no better person to step in and take over, as it happens.

I will take credit for that, and doff my cap modestly.

In the poll we did recently on site it was Jewell

But Jay, that’s because an awful lot of them only have Jewell as their earliest point of reference.

I’ll be honest, I actually felt bored with the Premiership after about the first 4 months of it. No use me bulling, that’s honestly how I have felt.
I don’t know what it is, I really don’t.

But, and there IS a but.

Last Saturday I took in Skem Utd V Harrogate Railway Athletic. It was a good craic, Skem won 4-3, after being 2-0 down, before Harrogate’s keeper saw red. Some good football, and a couple of the goals were belters, they looked so good because the nets were ‘stantioned’ on poles, ‘Premeirship style’.
Before the game, the players did the old line up and shake hands thing, like we see every week. And there you have it. EVERY other league looks up to the Premiership as a role model. Ask any of them players where they’d prefer to play, and each one would say “The Premiership”.

As a one off day out, or an every-now-and-again thing, it was good. £7.50 to get in, clubhouse with good pints, and not expensive, and an overall enjoyable experience.

But it made me appreciate what we get to watch.

We ARE ‘Little Wigan Athletic’. And we are upsetting the apple-cart by even daring to ‘mingle’ with the so called big-boys. And long may it continue!

Good clubhouse at Skem. The Mrs is a Skemmer (Old Skem) and all the family soirees are held there. Cheap ale ‘n all.

in reply to: Are We The Worst Premiership Fans Of All Time? #8506

Attendances don’t concern me, I’m on about actual support from the fans at the stadium. Wimbledon fans made some noise and I remember playing Tranmere, Crewe, Nob End, Blackpool etc, we made a racket. But recently, the excitment, atmosphere, expectation etc has gone and we are quite frankly sad as muck. I’ve never been to a Premiership ground where the fans are as bad as us, just one question and this will answer wether we are indeed the worst set of fans to grace Englands top flight:
When was the last time you heard chanting of ‘Wigan, Wigan…’ or the chanting of ‘We Love You Wigan?’ If it was in the last 12 months, were not the worst. Awaiting responses.

It seams to me you are a little bit uneducated with regard to Latics fans, but I am here to help. We love our club, so when things are looking bleak it affects the fans. Were not like other clubs by way of turning up just for a good day out, we turn up because were desperate to see the club were all so proud of put up a good fight. When that doesnt happen, the fans become dejected and I for one am proud that after a match which we were poor I go home and feel like sh*t for the weekend.
We have seen so much success over the last few years, we are desperate for that to continue. Interesting you mentioning about the worst premiership fans though, so I have been doing a little investigating and have left some attachments for you to look at. Rather than the worst fans, to me these guys look 100% the best. Tell me if you think theyre any good or you think the support is poor –

I will meet up with you you pri**, im 36 and have watched Wigan since 1970. More importantly than that as far as your concerned, im 6”5, built like a brick sh*t house and take offence when our support is questioned.
Hows tonight grab ya?
Those clips prove nothing.

The two at home are supporters taunting opposing supporters (which is not getting behind the team), and the other two are away games (which are always a better atmosphere anyway) – one being the Carling Cup Semi, and the other being the must-win last game of the season versus Sheff U. If you can’t get decent support at these games, there’s something hopelessly wrong.

In my opinion, the Geordies are the worst fans ever in the Prem due to their ridiculously high expectations, and their ability to turn on their managers and players at the drop of a hat (Oversized, black and white hat). Although saying that, judging by some of the recent posts on here, and the boos that have been heard around the ground, we aren’t a million miles away.

If the level of greatness is based purely on singing, couldn’t we get a male-voice choir in for matches? Then we’d be the best by miles.

Oh, and in answer to other questions posted on this thread: 39, 1978 (but regularly from 1982 until 1987, then irregularly between then and 1993, then regularly again…) 6’3”, side of a barn door.

Yes, that Oldham fan has a great memory.

Roberts joined the following season, and Kavanagh the season after that.

in reply to: Does this ring any bells? #8333

My error. Chris Ronnie got the boot from JJB earlier this year.

There goes the conspiracy theory then.

in reply to: Does this ring any bells? #8329
Ahh see i and other people were all under the idea that the Trust was set up primarily for the football club with 30mil and that its plan was every year it would make a small profit which could be spent on charitable donations.

Thats very interesting. Apart from the chris ronnie bit!

But wouldn’t that be irony at its finest?!

CEO of the company Whelan founded buys the club he used to play for.
Or maybe it’s more than mere coincidence. (Let the conspiracy theories begin…)

in reply to: Does this ring any bells? #8315
Youd be surprised how attractive to businessmen a club like wigan would be. Especially if we clear the debts then are allowed again under someone else to run those debts back up, well i say debts but we all know that they are directors loans.

As for the lindsay scenario i dont think hed be able to run it down so badly however it wouldnt surprise me if he came out with “taking the club down to a level that it could better sustain itself at”

Again Faz, I said we’d be a more attractive proposition if we cleared the debt.

With debt, we are not attractive.

There are not that many rich men around who want to buy a football club, and there are more clubs than there are buyers.
