If you watch England religously then I would imagine you would still go. Hope to keep your head down and stay safe. Big risk though but so is any Euro away with England these days as we have a massive target on our backs.

I’m in Russia 29th June to 16th July.

Won’t make any of the England games, but providing they’re through to the knockout stages, I’ll be watching from the John Bull, Moscow – albeit quietly.

If we lose a couple of matches, I’d go for something like this:

Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now – The Smiths
Cut Up, Depressed and Alone – Loss
And I Am Suffering – Virgin Black
Get Me Away From Here I’m Dying – Belle & Sebastian
Just Make It Stop – Low
    Misery – The Beatles

If they’re messing around playing games already, holding off from showing Whelan some hard moola, then I hope he looks elsewhere for a buyer. Doesn’t bode well when they are playing games before the deal has been done. As I’ve said previously, the thought of us being controlled by a professional gambler doesn’t excite me, you can see why.

Brighton are owned by a professional gambler and Stoke are owned by an online betting company and it seems to have worked for them.

I’m more concerned about who’ll be running the club after the take over, as both Sharpe and JJ are lifelong Latics fans – who understand the quirks and unique traits of your average Wiganer.

A good read from a certain Mr Andrew Vaughan…..

    https://loiremagblog.wordpress.com/2018/02/21/fever-pitch/

As a pivotal person in making this very fanzine what it is (was), he still has a great mind for writing. Pity he doesn’t do a lot more and a shame he (and others) are not involved on here anymore.

    Great read.
Personally I used to like the 4 4 Friday post which is no longer. But Maybe these writers are prem fans only?
Or maybe they all just got tired of the meltdowns on here and only visit this board on the rare occasion these days.

Could well be something as simple as that with a new baby at home, he’ not getting enough rest and it’s affecting his match fitness.

    It’s happened with players before.

Maybe Cook used our advantageous league position to hatch a plan. Throwing the last 2 games whilst playing shockingly bad in order to lull City into a false sense of security! Could be the master plan of the season!

I don’t think Cook is that bothered about the cup – judging from his remarks before the last match.

If it hinders our promotion I’m sure he’d happily throw the game.

I was born in Zambia and grew up in Springfield. Then lived in Sheffield and St Helens, before moving to Standish.

Does that qualify me as being from Standish?

17874 ………. Ahhh just remembered my sister in law is going

    17875.

    And my prize Horc????

Anyone who gets it exact can have the pleasure of having a pre match pint with ‘The Famous Two
Man Kop’ in The Brick prior to our last home game of the season, and I will pay. Good luck.
You’re never in The Brick these days! I’ll go for 16238 ;)
I’ve not seen you there for ages either!

If takeover goes through the new owners can soon get fans onside by ditching the ridiculous kit makers Krappa at the first opportunity. Rubbish cheap looking kits that only fit half of our fanbase.

Personally I like the Kappa kits. Supplier to Napoli, Torino and Wigan!

The kit manufacturers pitch to supply the kits to clubs, so it’s not a case of the clubs choosing someone to make their shirts. The manufacturers chose the clubs.

I’d be more than happy if we stuck with them.

A pretty wealthy guy/company it seems.

My big concern is what they will do once they have spent a few quid and we haven’t made it back to the Prem.

I’ve been looking at this, and Googling like mad, and it all becomes muddied. Not bad, not good – I just can’t tell. Which of course is the objective.

The finances of IED are actually, I think, irrelevant. That’s the holding company in the name of which the deals will be done.

The core sentence in the link Egg provides is: “In the opinion of the Directors, the holding company of the Company is Brighten Path Limited, which is incorporated in the British Virgin Islands, and the ultimate holding company of the Company is Head and Shoulders Direct Investment Limited.”

Both of these companies “appear” to be in the hands of one man: Chiu Fai Choi.

His business profile is here (also click on the “Read Full Background” button):-
    https://www.bloomberg.com/research/stocks/people/person.asp?personId=29928586&privcapId=274860571

The Cheng family have been mentioned as the people taking over, but they sold IED to Dr Choi in 2017 and no members of the Cheng family are on the board.

However, if you look at Dr Choi’s profile you will see that he is actually described as “He has 23 years of experience in securities, futures, financial derivative products and merger and acquisition projects”.

The only thing that is certain to my belief (which means it’s not at all certain :) ) is that somewhere there is an individual who wants to own a football club – Dr Choi? One of the Cheng family? Who knows.

I certainly wouldn’t get hung up about who IED are, or where they are based, or whatever. They are a front name for whoever wants to buy in.

Well, that’s my reading of it, but I could be very wrong. I often am (but don’t tell anyone that!)
All seems millions of miles away from Communism!!
Eh? Where’s communism mentioned?!

Now I’m no business man but why would someone want to buy a business that’s in a loss and a possibility of not getting promotion into the championship and possibility of never getting back into the greed league (both of which fingers crossed we’ll achieve) so its got to be laundering money for the triads we’ll be cock of the north and tough as nails no-one will muck with the mighty Ticads .

A company who wants to buy a stable football club relatively cheaply, and use it to market its brand through TV audiences?

in reply to: Rochdale off #165677
And all we have to show for it is top of the league and a 5th rd cup draw.

    COOK OUT!!! Ruining this club.

    Agreed. Bloody clueless.

    Ruining this club

    The Egg,

Its other people who keep mentioning Barclays…..

Although I think it’s fairly common knowledge they handle our finances. I think Whelan said as much in his book.

And no, I don’t know a single person who works for Barclays. I’ve a mate who works at Asda, a mate who drives a van, and a mate who wipes arses for a living. Neither of them care one jot about LATICS. Other friends live further away and are even less interested. One is a wine connoisseur, one is a millionaire. One is a water sports instructor in Queensland. It’s just amazing what you pick up off people you talk to off wigan boards and pages. And people who have contacts within the inner sanctum. And no, I can categorically say and make clear that it’s certainly NOT Jason who has said anything. He wouldn’t. Just want to make that totally clear. And I wouldn’t ask and put him in that position anyway.

The club don’t help though with all the secrecy. It would be nice if the supporters were told a bit more about who is going to come in and the effect it will have.

They’re not allowed to. The prospective new owners have had them sign a non-disclosure agreement until it’s finalised.
And that’s not even a little bit dodgy……hmm. why the secrecy? Go on, what’s the reason? Something fishy going on here….
Nothing at all dodgy with it.

If you’re in the process of selling a business and you’re happy with what’s being offered, you don’t want everyone knowing about it until it’s a done deal.

in reply to: Right, oh experts and sages…… #165492

Non-disclosure agreements are common practice. Whenever we’re pitching for business at work, nine times out of ten there’s a non-disclosure agreement signed so as not to alert competitors and scupper the deal.

    Same in this case.

Neither party will want anything getting out that might derail the process.
