Sunderland will be fine this season. Burnley Norwich and Hull/Bournemouth for me.

Does seem a bit Bramble-esque. Be interesting to see if he gets in above Buxton.

Aye. Let’s forget the number of assists Yanic had last season and the key goals scored. Let’s forget he’s our most dangerous player by a country mile. Blackburn were terrified of him whilst Birmingham doubled up on him at times.

He is a danger no doubt but his final ball/decision making is poor at times which is why he is at Wigan Athletic.

His pace is a danger if he is 1 on 1 but if sides double up he doesn’t have the ability to beat both men. The good thing is though that it leaves a gap for the likes of Gilbey and Jacobs to exploit which they did against Birmingham.

I thought we had established that Pearce WANTED to go??

Just seen the goals from yesterday and the defence looks worringly slow.

“Pearce wanting to go” thats what the club lead us to believe.

Let me tell you, at JP’s final training session with us he was close to tears and told people at the club he didnt want to leave.
True that.
How do you know that then?

I listened to the 1st half on wish as i was back in work at 4. Jake buxton was the co-commentator & i think it was he who stated that whilst wildschutt is exciting down the flanks, his final ball (& in some respects his decision making IMO) lets him down. Thats why he plays at this level & not in the premier league.

Correct. His pace is always a danger though.

Been one for a while.

I have no issues mentioning the rugby and taking the piss. I do it myself, but on here almost EVERY thread turns into a childish “our crowds bigger than yours” conversation.

I wouldn’t mind if we just did a Burnley and had one season up there in the Premier League, didnt spend then come back down very rich and go back up again. Trouble is now The Championship is away with big money and it may have to take a big gamble from our owners to finance this in the first place and like you say money spent would not guarantee a promotion.
Let’s just enjoy having a go and upsetting as many of these big spenders as possible.

Fully agree. Up for a season, pay the bills and fund us for a few years off the tv dosh and then spend 2 or 3 years in the championship with some decent cup runs.

As a fan of a club like ours the Prem is crap.

Good points Egg. Yes Chorley is my local team but I was brought up on Latics as Coppull folk tended to follow either Chorley or Latics and my Father and Grandfather were staunch Latics.
I would say myself the Rugby do attract a lot of support from outside Wigan. People in Barrow and Whitehaven fill their rugby shirts well just like their fans closer to and around Wigan. You are right their local team wouldn’t be Latics.
I didn’t know Utd were on TV tonight but as long as there are idiots like Smuts around no one will drop it. In fact attendance at matches is a major talking point amongst all fans but with us Latics fans it as always been used by many opponents, critics and haters of our great club as a stick to beat us with.
Thanks Egg your comments and points have been appreciated.

Talk about our attendances and tickets all day long but theres no need to compare them to the rugby as it just ends up in a pointless pissing contest.

Regards locality, I know full well you’re a staunch Latics fan just having a sly dig ;) I’ve no issue with where our fans come from as long as they actually watch the team as opposed to sitting in the pub. That infuriates me.

Personally I don’t want to go up as I far enjoy the football more in the lower leagues and the days out.

As a club however we need to be in the Prem for at least a season and it probably needs to be next season with the parachutes drying up. There are already 3 ex Prem clubs with bursting bank balances and another 3 to come plus the likes of Wolves who have been taken over. A club like ours could get cur adrift.

Yes there is no guarantee money brings success but as we are always a selling club I don’t see us keeping a squad together for a few seasons if we do well but don’t go up.

Friday at New Springfield in yet another home game against Saints is also a day when all the local Manure, Hubcappers, Citeh and Everton shirt wearing bandwagon jumpers squeeze into their Norweb shirts and become Egg fans.
If those lot could show their loyalty to their local football side we could fill the place.
Tuesday was three quid cheaper on the night at £24 Mutty Shite and coming days after casual fans had to fork out £27 and so is hardly a scientific way to measure a pricing policy but as an egg Mon you wouldn’t understand as most of your casual fans are on free tickets including the extra Norweb wearing chubbies tonight. Well who would pay for that shite anyway ffs!!!

Couple of points.

1 – According to everyone on here most Wigan rugby fans come from Bolton Preston or Leyland so their local football team wouldn’t be Latics.

2 – Latics isn’t even your local team Donny so you’re kinda shittin on that point.

3 – Utd are actually on Sky tonight so the Utd armchairs amongst the rugby brethren will just stay in the pub and watch both games on TV.

4 – Can we stop the childish attendance crap and turning every topic to rugby please? This is a WAFC forum so lets talk about them. Mutty, if you want to stir shit then stick to the WEP page.

My only concern is where he fits in as i presumed when we signed powell, that was the end of interest in gomez. Dont get me wrong i’m glad he is back as im a fan of his, but with powell, jacobs & colclough, i just cant see where he will fit in.

But FAO gary; please sign another striker

I think the question is – Where are Powell, Jacobs & Colclough going to fit in. I know where Jordi will be! The starting 11.
I think Colclough might go

You do not get included if you don’t attend due to health and safety reasons

Don’t be saying things like that…..how else do the rugby inflate their attendances.
