They had income and were selling 20k seats
We have nothing. Literally nothing. That’s the long and short of it.
We have bills and more importantly salaries to pay but we have no money coming in to pay them with. The only way we can raise money is to sell players. That’s a win win as well as it means we lower the salary.
Leeds would have still had all sorts of income streams from matches so once they plugged the hole where their money was vanishing to stabilising wouldn’t have been too difficult.
The human equivalent I guess would be paying your credit cards off when you have a job compared to when you don’t.
Kits look superb, and I disagree Nuneaton….I love a black kit.
We have no income due to covid. Leeds were still selling 20,000+ seats every week.
I wonder what would happen if it was the “other” team what was in our predicament?
We all know what would happen. They would stand up and be associated with them. Like Whelan did when he saved them and gave them a place to play at on cheap rent after they had squandered their Tesco money on paying off debt that bought their success in their glory years.
Papers, radio and TV would have been full of the tear inducing bilge too.And rightfully so as the pride of the town
Sorry, inappropriate. Consider myself banned
If you want to direct your anger correctly, perhaps you should look towards the 20,000 who were at Wembley in 2013, yet haven’t contributed a brass button towards the supporters’ club appeal.
Forget the fact they may or may not have donated, but you do have a point.
All jumped on the bandwagon for the final and the parade. Never been seen since. We’d probably be a more attractive buy averaging 20k every week.
The club will not die mate. Trust me.
Not sure on the actual figure but it isn’t much.
As far as I know, it’s a percentage of their ticket sales and they get nothing from the bar sales.
That is why he was keen to open a bar in the sports arena this season pre and post match.
As a rugby fan i’m far happier with that deal than having to foot the bill for everything but as I have said time and again well before all this, the stadium should be 50/50 ownership with each club taking away their profits.
Will you be getting a season ticket now vat? The amount raised must surely make you accept that we wont die?
What bits do you disagree with?
Celebrating Liverpool’s title win presumably vince
You actually come across as happy about it vat, that’s the bit I don’t get
We have to do something though mate even if it fails.
For me, it’s about the future. Yes a phoenix club sounds great and non-league football would be a laugh but would it ever be MY club? I take great pride in being a Latics fan and following in my Grandfathers footsteps. He died when I was 18 months old but he was a massive Latics fan. Out of his 6 children, 9 grandchildren and multiple great grandchildren, I am the only one that supports Latics and after every big historic moment he is the first thing I think about and I point to the sky as my kind of “celebration” (i dont even believe in heaven and hell etc but its a symbol more than anything) I love sitting and talking with fans who would be his era about some of their memories.
My daughter might not choose to follow football or indeed to support Latics, but maybe in 30 years when I let her have a boyfriend and she adopts a child (she’s never having sex lol) she may get a son who comes to the games with his grandad and enjoys those moments.
It may fail and it may be too late, but if I sat and did nothing I don’t know how I could explain that to future generations.
With an attitude like that Vat then yes we are dead.
Egg ….I note with trepidation your less than confident view on the French/US groups interest ….and would welcome your further thoughts on that (to the extent that you can of course)
However what do WASC hope to do with £500k ?
It isn’t enough to buy the club and would last no more than a couple of weeks in terms of running costs …what’s the plan ?…..if it is to buy a seat on the board then that presumes there is going to be a board (i.e a club with an owner) to sit on ?!
I don’t know anything about any of the bids for legal reasons. My discussions with the admin have been around how the crowdfunder was spent to pay the bills, but we have always been doing things in the background to prepare for the worst because I believe they would have to come back to us before they liquidate and give us one more chance to buy the club.
I’m guessing based on the talk that the stadium and Euxton have been sold separately. Seems strange that they would want to buy just the club (with an academy dropping to level 3) when they basically have a ready made Championship club. Off the field at least. They could have done this from day one don’t forget so I don’t think it is simply a case of the admins lining their pockets.
More details on the £500k should be given later on by Caroline on the podcast she is doing with Jay Whittle. If not, then I’ll answer anything I can.
Plenty of football clubs will not own their stadium BTW. Hull City being one that jumps to mind instantly.
