I thought Williams had en excellent game. Agree that Lowe was knocked off the ball easily at times, but in the 2nd half especially he showed what he’s capable of in flashes. Emberokhare seemed very raw and naïve but there is a player in there. When he got it right he looked a big strong fast and powerful lad, but he was shattered when he came off. Sterling didn’t have the best of debuts, but similarly he seems big and strong and hopefully doesn’t take long to adapt to this level.

We signed 3 players yesterday. All initially for the Under 23’s.

Apparently Marshall was shaky to begin with at both Hull and Cardiff, but went on to be very impressive so a bit of leeway wouldn’t go amiss.

People wetting their knickers over spending 7m on 2 strikers that have never played above league 1 level. If there was 7m to spend why waste it in that way? Relegation is nailed on i am afraid.

Oh please do kindly, fuck off.
Very nice. There is a thread currently going on this board asking where all the old posters have gone. Let me tell you categorically that it is YOU that is the reason nobody posts any more. What a scumbag way to respond.

JR no i am not just a Latics fan making a prediction. Is that allowed or should i say we are going to finish top just for the sake of saying it?

Otter if i was in that situation i would have gone for proven championship level players. I don’t think we are in the position to be taking big gambles like we have. Exciting as it is that money has been spent i don’t believe it has been done correctly. In the other areas i think it has been done well in defence etc but the absolute key area is up top and i just honestly don’t believe that Lowe and Moore will get enough at this level.

Anyway, first log on for years and after the warm welcome i got by VAT i will not bother again and head back over to Vital. The other thread was bemoaning the fact that there is no reasonable debate on here any more. Well i can offer that but it seems VAT and JR and people like that just want a closed shop. How do you expect people to come on here when you welcome them with vitriol.
Just a couple of points. 1) Lowe is a winger 2) Moore has had 2 spells in the Championship. So I don’t know why you claim we’ve spent 7 million on 2 strikers with no experience above League 1.

Can’t really moan about our dealings but I just it doesn’t stifle our youngsters development.

There isn’t one. I remember at the time we got them to pay more upfront instead.

Assuming these signings are confirmed the squad is looking a lot healthier than it was but it’s still very sparse in parts. We are light in the centre forward spot and basically the whole defence bar right back has no cover. Hopefully another 2 or 3 come in before the window shuts.

                      GL,

I’m usually very much in agreement with you, as you are a voice of reason among a sea of overreaction, but in this case I’ll have to disagree. Bolton have escaped this weekend purely on the promise of future funds. They are having to take another loan out just to get Saturday’s game on.

They’ve spent the last 6 months telling everybody that the finance are in the pipeline, but this pipeline seems longer than the worlds biggest oilfields. They are stalling, playing with peoples livelihoods and they are allowed to bluff their way out of it time and again. They’ve already called one match off and not been penalised, yet poor old Bury are jumped on straight away. You say the 2 situations are different but there is so much in common in the separate instances to be judges by the same criteria.

Absolutely scandalous. They already owe god knows how much. The fact they offered their players 20% of their back pay shows they are unable to service those existing debts and have only got this weekend’s one by taking out yet another loan provided by an organisation whose chairman is a Bolton supporter. If they could loan to 2 million to Bolton why couldn’t they loan anything to Bury. The stench of corruption is overwhelming.

IEC have certainly put their money where their mouth is!

They certainly have. £1 million per month to balance the books. Big screen installed. New academy purchased to improve the flow of young players that they always insisted was their MO for the future.

Who honestly knows what’s going on? It was reported at the start of the week that we’d pulled out of the Hugill chase.

If we think Lowe is overvalued then what’s to gain from paying over the odds? Maybe we have pulled out who knows.

There’ll be loads of stuff going on that we’ll never know about and that’s how it should be.
