It tells me that they’ve tried but not been able to clinch a deal. Maybe we should just go out there and pay way more than we can afford. Would that make you feel better?

Out of the 12 at least 3 were loan players so not ours to keep. Off the top of my head another 4 weren’t in the team anyway and the others were probably slagged off by you last season anyway.

The population of the town of Wigan is about 90k. The borough is a purely political entity. It includes Leigh who can’t stand Wigan and generally have historically aligned themselves to Bolton. It also includes Atherton and Tyldesley who consider themselves to be Manchester.

There may well be parts of Sunderland that feel they belong somewhere else but the pool of support we have to draw on is nowhere near 200k plus.

I’ve just watched the little film they’ve made to promote them. Flipping heck I’m a grown man. There must be something in my eye.

I’m sure I read somewhere that Gelhardt is away with England this week and won’t be involved on Sunday. If,for once, my memory is correct it would be nice to see Jolley given Gelhardt’s place on the bench.

4 up now. All scored by Arthur Lomax. I wonder if he’s one of Billy’s descendants?

Does anyone think Mr Brownbill and cup winners are one and the same? They’ve both been venomous in their attacks on the club and Cook in particular and today they’ve both shared their homoerotic fantasies.

Its got to he said, some supporters on here should bow their heads in shame when they look back at their posts this season.
We all deserve an opinion but the pure vitriol directed at Paul Cook and the players at times has been ridiculous to say the least.
Having been struck by injuries to literally the full forward line for most of the season and to throw away point after point due to individual errors, its been a hard season for the club. Despite that they have achieved their goal and retained championship status with points to spare. We have NEVER been in the bottom 3.
So please let this be a lesson to some supporters you know who you are, by all means have a go when things are not going for us, but understand it just doesnt do any good coming on here with the hatred demonstrated by you at 5pm every time we lose.
Paul Cook and his backroom staff are rookies at this level, with the injury situation on top, he has had a baptism of fire, but to his credit he has achieved his pre-season goal, with 2 games to spare.
Let’s sit back and enjoy the last 2 games, have a relaxing break and come back fully charged to get behind our team, whoever is in charge or whoever is on the pitch.
Well done Paul Cook, well done the players and well done to all those supporters who stuck behind the lads despite that horrendous away record.

Utter bollocks, I like alot on here will moaned like fook when we play like tossers and the manager hasn’t a clue and putting up with players who didn’t give a flying fcuk about us.
I will also praise them for getting 7 points out of 9 and keeping us up.
Hang our heads in shame ?? pmsl. By the sounds of it happy tamazzy clapper you need to get down the training ground about 2ish and give Cook a soapy wet one then nosh the team off cause most won’t be here next season.[/quote]

No need to air your fantasies on a public forum.

Unbelievably we’ve lost our appeal against Kipre’s sending off so I would imagine Olsen will get a start. I expect Powell to start as he’s not played much recently. The rest depends on how players have recovered from putting in such a massive shift on Friday.

3 match ban for kipre so we wont see him again.

I think it’s only one for a professional foul.

I think if we appeal he will get off. It hit him flush in the chest.

It was a monumental effort today. Hopefully they’ve shaken the effects off by Monday and we can get the points that will officially keep us up. And win me a fiver off a PNE supporting colleague.

Citeh fans doing some crying after last night. Takes me back to 1999 and a third division play-off semi-final at Maine Road.
Wigan denied a blatant penalty when Stuart Barlow was man handled in the box and of course the Shaun Goater winner he scored ironically with his hand.
Karma coming back on Citeh from that night 20 years ago that was the begining of their rise.
Weve had the last laugh a few more times since but that bloody night was such an injustice.

Was it not Kevin Sharp that was assaulted in the penalty box?

This was only the third or fourth game Wigan played well. Jonas Olsen when he came on was a real handful in their box, which is something you cannot say about Leon Clarke. I thought Kipre should be given a chance up front but I think Olsen, who was a very decent player for WBA, could be a useful sub. Goodness we still miss Dan Burn. One point is okay in the circumstances. What has happened to Nick Powell? His heart is certainly not with Wigan. It has been a great privilege to have witnessed a brilliant young player. Reece James has been absolutely superb this season, as has Antonee Robinson who missed many games sadly by injury whilst on international duty. Now please, if you can, explain the Gary Roberts situation. Given an extension yet not played since.

Whatever happens. If Cook stays he has to change his training staff. He has to go the Preston route and go with youth.

Good Luck against Leeds and Preston. Millwall will be v difficult if that game is the decider.. Squeeky Bum time.

Roberts isn’t playing because he’s got an injury.

Get Clarke off now…..no out ball. Hasn’t won a ball yet.

Sorry but you’ve made yourself look foolish with that comment. Clarke is far from a favourite if mine but I’ll give credit where it’s due and it certainly was today. He was excellent.

When Rosler first arrived we kept 2 up and pushed them both out wide to the touch lines, but even he stopped doing it.

I’ve always thought it a good tactic. The mor bodies in the box the more likelihood of confusion or an unfortunate deflection.
