Everyone is saving up for the big game tomorrow, so i heard.

Guess they didn’t save hard enough. Gate today at the DW was just under 10,000 including the Leeds fans. So the 2 mighty rugby towns of Wigan & Leeds couldn’t muster up as many fans as Wigan home fans attended yesterday.

If he plays tomorrow then we know it is true.

I don’t know why people have a problem with DW selling players for less than what he has said he values the player at. It’s just the way the transfer business is carried out these days. Previously in the days of the arbitration panel the selling club would ask for X million, the buying club would offer Y million. The panel usually just split the difference.

DW, knowing Charlie wants to go, wants to get the best price he can. He probably valued him at 10 million but publicly declares he wants 12. Birmingham probably valued him at 10 but offered 8 guessing that we accept 10. Both clubs are looking to save face by having made the other change their respective positions. It is, however, all an illusion.

in reply to: Should We Move Out Of The DW ? #44020

Why on earth would you want to move to a smaller stadium? When I first saw the topic heading I thought it was a chubster interloper who had forgotten which site he was on.

It wont happen anyway. DW wont finance building another stadium. He won’t even finance another or bigger bridge across the canal. The Council won’t give planning permission for another stadium.

Even if it did happen any new stadium would have to be built further out of town. Do you really want to have to travel further to games?

If Souness is ever appointed I will hand in my season ticket. I hate the man. There are three managers I have disliked immensely, they all Scotsmen and are the biggest whingers going. They are Ferguson, Dalgleish and Souness.

Didn’t get to the game last night, visiting sick father in hospital, only saw last half on the net. Quite liked Stam, keen to go forward but also got back well. At least 3 times he passed a ball to Gomez and ran forward for the return ball. Did he get it? No! Gomez did his usual thing of a quick circle on the ball and played it into midfield. The defence got a bit sloppy in the 2nd half. Alcaraz did OK but Gohouri’s passing out from defence was quite poor. Their 3rd goal also came from a sloppy clearance this time from Gomez. Having said that I am still confident about the coming season.

Did anybody watch the Chile – Honduras game this afternoon. I am sure the commentator when discussing their left fullback, Izaguirre, said the as far as the Honduran camp were concerned he has as good as signed for us. Can’t say that I was that impressed. Figgy played left sided centre back. He had a good game.

I think Man City play West Ham on the last day of the season. What would be nice would be Tevez scoring the winning goal that relegates them.

Impressed by a good performance by Jason Scotland. McCarthy looking class act.

Not at all sure about Melchiot instead of Boyce though.

But a fighting performance. When ever have we gone into 4 minutes of injury time at 0-0 and thought “we’re going to win this”?

Agree with you about Melchiot but the SSN reporter must have been at a different game, he made Melchiot MOM rating him 9. I thought McCarthy was a little bit lost out on the wing. We should have started with McCarthy in the middle and Moses out on the right. For me Diame was MOM.
In the end a very satisfying result. No doubt some of the doubters will be on saying it wasn’t good enough and we should be scoring 6 or 7 against teams like Burnley

It is in the players best interest to make the most of things.

The only flaw with that is that footballers are not always the brightest of sparks

I think the stewards must have had some orders from above about people not complying with stadium rule. At the Villa game a steward made a family take down a flag they had fastened to the barrier by the exit stairwell. It was a Spanish flag and they have put it there for every home game this season. It doesn’t obscure anybody’s view, but despite the protests of the surrounding fans they were still made to take it down.

Your being very generous Standish. He can’t be that old and certainly doesn’t have an IQ that high.

He is not on the FA list of players under. or awaiting suspension

Can we terminate his contract if he is found guilty? I hope so.
