When did Brighton win the FA Cup???

Do you not mean Southampton?

EDIT – for what it’s worth, I think the breakdown in Mancini’s relationship with his players was one of many things that tipped the result in our favour that day.
But did they chuck it??? Not in my opinion – the looks on their faces when Watson’s goal hit the back of the net that day is enough to confirm that for me. Not only that, but there was no need for them to chuck it. Mancini was getting the push anyway & they knew it. There was nothing for them to gain by “chucking” the match.
And anyway, there’s a world of difference between Arsenal players taking a poll on whether they wanted Rioch sacked & players deliberately chucking a cup final. I don’t see how Keys can even compare the 2

Interesting in the timing – although its quiet at the moment about a takeover, remember this was probably one if the factors he considered when he was in a similar situation at pompey, and moved to us, so depending upon what he knows already about a potential takeover, it may be a case of de javu for him ..

When Cook was interviewed as the potential takeover story broke I interpreted him comments as being that he knew about the potential takeover at Latics when he was offered the post & he’d been kept up to date with developments since arriving – therefore the possible takeover, & an injection of funds, may have been one of the reasons why he moved to Latics in the first place.

In another interview, the takeover at Pompey played a part in him leaving but only in so much as it meant that promises made to him at the end of the previous season weren’t honoured coz the buy out put a stop to everything as the current/previous owners weren’t prepared to stump up money shortly before they flogged the club. I believe that the new guys then tried to persuade him to stay but he’d already made up his mind.
He didn’t leave just because new owners were coming in

If in 90 minutes the worst criticisms I have is that an offside signal was a bit slow & some nudges in the back were let go then yes to me they were on the money.
All their big calls were spot on & if people use a complete non penalty & a justified 2nd caution as the big criticisms then to me it shows the officials got things right.
There was also uproar round me in the 1st half when the liner flagged offside before a cross that wound up with a header flashing just wide – I was bang on line with that & he was about a yard offside

He did hold aloft the red card before the yellow though! ;)
Yeah I spotted that at the time!! I didn’t mention that as I’ve cautioned players & wondered whey everyone’s kicking off until I realise that I’m waving my red card in their face – even the best of us do it ;-)

A poacher wouldn’t have nicked anything on Saturday coz the supply into the front man was poor

Their sending off was ridiculous,

I don’t know where you sit jr but yesterday I sat in es2 g44 & I had an unobstructed view of that sending off offence.
Burn never got close to him & it was one of the worst dives I’ve ever seen on a football field. Everybody round where I was sat felt the same.

I will give you though that he let nudges in the back go but I’d prefer him to ref that way than to blow up for every little misdemeanour & ruin the flow of the game.

First game at this level that I’ve seen & as I said the ref & the assistant on the east stand side really impressed me. If they had a fault it was slow signalling & whistling for offsides which on one occasion almost wound up with Toney getting injured after him & the keeper collided

We maybe should have had a penalty, when Toney was flattened, but there we go.

It was never a penalty & I actually felt embarrassed that Toney tried to claim it.
He dwelled that fraction too long & it allowed the defender to get i a great challenge. Toney realised his error & flings himself to the deck when he felt some contact.
Great decision from the ref as was the sending off – I thought the officials were on the money today

K22, a steam-propelled First World War K class submarine of the British Royal Navy

I’ve already said that one!!!

How do you mean ‘Let him go’ ? I thought he still played for Utd!

He does fil, I was referring to when they were at Chelsea. Both kids and Mourinho didn’t fancy them so set them on their way.
To be fair to Mourinho, I heard a bit of Ray Wilkins on TalkSport the other week & someone mentioned this same topic. I assume that Wilkins has or had a coaching role of some description at Chelsea when De Bruyne was there & he said that at no point during his time there did De Bruyne give any indication that he was going to even remotely turn into the player he has.
On Lukaku, our own Bobby showed his knack of not being able to identify a good striker – Lukaku was offered to Latics (admittedly on loan I think) as a sweetener for the Moses to Chelsea deal. Bobby said he didn’t want him. Interestingly he seemed to learn from his mistake as he was one of his first signings 12 months later at Everton!!!

K13 was a steam-propelled First World War K class submarine of the Royal Navy. She sank in a fatal accident during sea trials in early 1917 and was salvaged and recommissioned as HMS K22

If reports are true and it is a 20 million pound takeover I suggest it means the stadium is not part of it and will remain in its holding company. It cost 30 million when built so surely the reported bid would not get the Chinese the ground as well as the club for that price. What it means to us I haven’t a clue . Going to be an interesting few months for us.

It doesn’t matter what it cost to build in 1999. The last accounts (up to May 2016) said Wigan Athletic Holdings had assets of £30m.
That value will have fallen since then (having already fallen by £5mill from the year before) so it’s entirely feasible that the company now has assets of £20-£25mill & quite often, if someone is looking to sell, they will go with a lower amount in order to incentivise the buyers

Agree about the defending.
Dunkley was more concerned about who he thought Byrne should be marking than concentrating on his own job. Burn on the other hand was in no mans land & had no idea who was round him

Do you really fancy a fortnightly trip to somewhere like Basingstoke to sit in your £350 a season seat alongside 15,000 curious Hampshire folk?

I wouldn’t mind to be honest. It’s only 20 odd minutes drive from where I live!!

As for the rest of it – some people are clearly winding up Wigan Rugby fans who are a little bit dumb to know that it would be very difficult &/or very costly for any new owner of Latics (& who also purchased Wigan Athletic Holdings, who in turn own most of the stadium company’s shares) to wriggle out of a legally binding lease that the rugby have.

In turn some Latics fans aren’t using all their grey matter if they actually think any new owners could just boot them out.

And you are correct in saying that if a new owner doesn’t purchase the stake in the stadium as part of the deal (although I would assume for the price of £20mill that they are) then technically the could seek to relocate the club – Its happened once so there’s little the FA are likely to do about it

Cheeky bastards, Crawley fans moaning “couldn’t have got a worse draw playing in front of rows and rows of empty seats” When did they become a big club ffs. Do they even get a crowd? Its hardly surrounded by massive clubs taking their core support. Fook playing the fringe players lets embarrass the poncy assholes.

Coming from a club whose ground is, on average, 60% empty when there’s a game on – that’s a bit rich
