The league cup is a competion long past it’s sell by date which was in the 80s.
It attracts very poor gates and most teams play weakened
ones anyway making the ties non events.
Was brought in to boost floodlight football in the 1960s and has had its day in my view.
You know who the winners will be before it starts , Man City or Liverpool.

B*****cks to him , ref had a great game in my view.
Just ragged off because our little team he thinks they should beat hollow has come and done a very good job on his very lightweight bunch today.
A true Latics performance that today once they realised the opposition didn’t deserve the respect showed to them early on in the game.
Latics gave a performance to be proud of and dare we start to dream a little ?

All graft and effort we displayed on Saturday Aside I am rather concerned with the lack of transfer activity.
I felt we were very lucky to get a point as they had the better chances and we lacked cutting edge.
I am not expecting anything other than a relegation fight given how strong this division is , far stronger than the last time we were in it.

A team that struggled all season with some ageing world weary players in there also .
Far more hungry, younger and ambitious bunch this time out with one or two ambitious wise old heads to help them.
Won’t be easy and I’m expecting a few dustings here and there but this lot renind me more of Paul Jewell’s 2003-4 set up than Cookys 3 years ago.
Just have to keep our chins up when we get done as we surely will over the season.

In view of the price of these games , anybody know what the attendances were yesterday and against Liverpool X1👏?

Didn’t realise Rigalletos had gone , what a shame.
Always enjoyed going in there and the food was always very good.

Will be a very tough season as I think the division is far stronger than it has ever been.
A season like Blackpool had with 60
Or so points would be fantastic but we still have a league 1 standard team really unless some signings are made or players like Asgard and Lang step up and do well.
The home form will be crucial given how bad the away form was last time we graced the division.
As for the new kit, very 2006-7 retro isn’t it ! Always baffled as to why they keep switching from the lovely blue stripes back to the dark blue.
                        And 47 quid?, seriously ??

Seems fair to me , policing costs will have gone up given the increase in crowd disorder in and around grounds over the past year.
Blackpool travelled to Southport over the weekend and there was disturbances there serious enough to have the game paused for 10 minutes or so.
Admittedly it appeared to be schoolchildren acting up before being chased away but it’s becoming a common occurrence and that means policing bills will increase unfortunately at certain games
For fooks sake it’s almost six bloody quid to get a pint in a certain pub in Pem of all places at the minute I am reliably informed.
Rather the club charge the going rate and stay solvent and ensure safety for the decent supporters.

Cant see how the teams coming from the premier league can fail with those massive budgets they have although have my doubts about Burnley with that money they allegedly have to pay.
Sunderland might be a dark horse in my opinion , was impressed with their team last season especially the second stringers who outclassed us here in the league cup last September. The positive bounce might work in their favour but it is very rare we see teams move straight through after league 1 promotion these days.
I will take fourth bottom right now for the Tics and build from there with a sound youth policy etc and prudent signings and a sensible sustainable wage bill if that is possible. We perhaps have been promoted ahead of schedule but i have faith in the management and want the club to stay with them.

They would win some brownie points from me if they let Orrell rugby use their old ground again.

I’d imagine thinks will start moving on July 1st like it usually does in the lower divisions.
Free transfers and loans will be our market i would expect.
