Consolidation in league 1 would be spot on for me next season with the division looking more and more like a 1990s premier league reunion with every year that passes so escaping it at the top end wont be easy.
Getting the crowds back in and also adding new ( and old) supporters to follow the club will be the greatest challenges i think.
We need to keep that fantastic youth policy going and invest in that as we certainly have benefited from being sandwiched between four of the biggest clubs in football with them scanning the world for young players nowadays. An international player of some pedigree and reputation and remembered and revered for his late Eire goal against Northern Ireland in the qualifiers prior to the 1994 world cup finals.
His signing at Latics was one of many big ones of that very memorable new stadium season of 1999-2000 that propelled the club on to a higher stage almost overnight than it had been on previously.
All the more sad that he was signed at the forefront of that very positive era when Latics really began their great journey makes it all the more poignant especially in view of recent events.
very very sad news ,54 is no age to die
RIPLooked like they broke into the ground, not many brain cells on show there.
Best achievement by a country mile and so deserved.
Onwards and upwards!!Absolutely love Wimbledon , looked very bleak at times tonight then an incredible late goal in the now standard 100 minutes of play !
A less nervy side could go to Hull and grab a typical Latics result.
The greatest ever escape of it comes offAll conditions there for a Latics result next Saturday.
Great news and if he keeps us up , very likely the finest ever achievement by a manager at our club in my opinion.
A brilliant win tonight and a real chance of staying up now , how many of us would have said that a few months ago?
Still a few cup finals to go though but two brilliant back to back wins give us real hope.
If Richardson keeps us up then he deserves the job 100% because that would be the greatest escape ever in our history !
So proud , well done lads and particularly young Langy proving to any young player struggling to make headway to stick at it and be loyal and you never know what can happen. It’s great news and I agree 100% they should look to reinstate the old staff so callously treated.
We may have to start at the bottom of the Football
League next season but at least we have a club to support and look how well Bolton are doing now.
As Paul Cook used to say “small steps” which is another word for patience and that is what we all need going forward, no place for Jonny come latelys that’s for sure!
More importantly is the way the club is run in the future will be vital to avoid this ever happening again.
Keep the excellent youth policy going which is obviously a big feature of our club now given our excellent position between the two major football cities of Liverpool and Manchester.
Youth recruitment is global now and it’s been obvious for a few years now we are well placed geographically to pick up the drop off talent.
Use the ground for anything and everything to bring in revenue and get the local kids interested and involved in the club like Dave Whelan did so successfully when he came in back in 1995.
Spruce up the concourses and facilities and get people into the ground early , again extra revenue to help the club.
As I said we all need patience and so do the owners as there will be no quick way back the championship without a proper long term plan.
Hopefully we can stay in league 1 and I have every faith they will do ,just .
Meeting my son and chewing the fat for a few hours whilst watching the game and having a few pints.
Finally seeing the wonderful Keith V outside the east stand having his pre match Bacca ,a legend if ever there was one !
Will be very emotional when we do go back , will need the dark glasses that day that’s for sure.💙💙Absolutely brilliant news and hopefully decent owners who will take us very steadily back to where we used to be.
I’ve given up even looking for updates now and no surprises they have ceased the weekly updates.
Past caring and I never thought I would ever say that !!A group of tics fans doing a bike ride for the appeal on Monday at 12pm at the stadium.
My own son being amongst them, a diehard since he was 4 a href=”https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/bike-ride-for-the-tics” rel=”nofollow”>https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/bike-ride-for-the-tics[qu
Wish Will had come back

The list is endless of sentimental signings coming back and FAILING and no doubt wages would no doubt have been too high given our current predicament.
One of the iconic players of Latics in recent times and his two previous league 1 seasons here were exceptional but glad he has gone elsewhere.
Good Lad though , hope he gets his career going again -
