Need to play same way against nob end, a good footballing team.
Let them come on to us and try and hit them on the break like any good away team tactic.
Millwall and Preston are two teams we easily beat at home last season and for me charlton are a poorer side than us amongst the bottom pack along with Luton and Barnsleywho both look adrift now.Bar the superb Brentford team ( sneaky feeling for them to break the top 2 ) I haven’t seen any dynamic teams in this division.
48 points to play for and arguably need 21 points to have a good chance of survival.
It’s the time of year that mid range teams start to slack so should be able to get on a run now.
An amazing week that completely changes the picture at the bottom and suggests that a very big corner has been turned.
.Amazing week , amazing results , absolutely brilliant !!!
Things look very different tonightGutted for the lad but given what happened at the end maybe not the end of the world.
At least we have a decent player still at the club and once his head is sorted can be a real help to the club going forward.
Time to close ranks and hope the two strikers Lowe and Moore carry on scoring.Brentford are the best team I have seen this season and certainly would be able to grace the premier league.
He’s a water carrier and a very good one to be honest however still very much in development stage.
Final ball needs some work but hell of a move for him if it comes off .
Some great lads in our youth set up and about time we started trying a few more out. It’s a start but all to late I’m afraid I’m already looking at other results and teams around us win we are fooked. It very very likely is much too late grumpy but we at least saw a Latics team roll it’s sleeves up and fight for a win ( first in almost 4 months at home )rather than collapse as the clock ticked towards 90 minutes.
Would rather see that for our remaining games and at least leave this dreadful division with some pride and prepare for a hopeful bounce back next year.Unlikely hero’s tonight !!
Moore ,Lowe and Jacobs best players for us in that eventful second half but they all did really well.
The subs seems to work tonight and while I still think we will be relegated at least they gave us something to cheer about at home.
To be fair to Lostock I also was thinking about the warmth of indoors and why do I bother after that absolutely terrible first half display. We arrived to find the gates being locked all over the place, wasn’t the done thing to buy tickets prematch back then.
Managed to dive in the Gladys street end so there must have been plenty other Wiganers doing the same given the massive attendance.
Had no bother as away fans in home sections was perfectly acceptable back thenif you were only there to watch the game.
Despite the mass brawl at the end the two managers were happily interviewed together at the end of the game and againnyiu wouldn’t see that today.Funny how the game has shifted but it’s the supporters who are being short changed with weakened sides and they are voting with their feet and rightfully so.
The game boils down to money however the TV companies will be off like a shot if the stadiums empty up again like they did in the 1980s.
Seem to Remember spurs being fined by the football league in early eighties for fielding a weakened side in a league match before an FA cup final. The league cup is the one that needs radically changing in my view .
Get rid of all the defected Premier league teams and then give some
Of the sleeping giant football league clubs the chance to play at Wembley.
The European place would go but at least there would be a different name on the trophy rather than the usual top bore clubs.
As for the FA cup which is over 100 years old and the most prestigious domestic knock out tournament in the world , leave it as it is bar minor adjustments.
The tournament will be valued by true supporters long after he and all his ilk have departed our game, maybe a tweak here and there but that’s all.
It’s been messed about enough for years but still is the only opportunity for the whole of professional and semi professional game to play each other and is valued by many.
That is far more important than cheap money that has destroyed our game and mundane matches (in a very dire premier league this year btw)and our game has been damaged enough without ruining a famous cup competion now existing in its third century !
As for the premier league sloping off to a European league I have just choked on my tea with laughter at the thought of such giant mortals as Sheff Utd Burnley, Bournemouth and Watford being big enough to grace a stage like that .His pace and work rate is second to none however just needs to work on his final ball especially in wide positions.
I personally think he could have filled the Powell role in a more central position and I think he was tried there at back end of last season and did really well.
Would be pleased to see him get that move and I really mean that even though I would be sorry to see him go. A great success story if it comes off.
Just needs some work on his passing distribution and he’ll have some career in front of him.Snap hands , legs , in fact decapitate the whole carcus for that money.
Been arguably our best player and far better when in attacking positions.
Hell of a move for our most hardworking and committed player and he deserves his big break if it comes.
Good luck to the young lad I saySame old broken record and without changes an acceptance of relegation.
Looks like they have all but given up from top to bottom .Been saying for months about our youths and to give them a chance.
Only way to survive at this level but I’m an accepting of our fate now and would rather see the club build slowly and try and prosper at the right level going forward.
Five of them easily worth some game time at first team level from what I saw the other week.
