Have to disagree alex. The premier league is about 8 or so teams in the top half and sod the rest. Unless you have an influence in the F.A and a big stadium full every game of course.

But yes, Excited to the point of nervous.

We have been nilled 12 times this season and have nilled other teams 6 times. 30 goals is a big worry and if we survive it will by the skin of our teeth. I posted earlier in the season saying i was worried where the goals would come from. If they want half a chance of scoring from midfield then they should give Koumas a decent run in the team. What a waste of talent. Creative talent.

Just to add to that hindley_blue.

If Martinez keeps on persisting with the same system and same players the ones on the bench and the sidelines like Koumas e.t.c will never try in training if they know they arent going to ever get a game. The same players play all the time and they aint up to it. If we stay up there is mega change needed next season. But that includes keeping our better players, N’Zogbia, Rodders e.t.c. If Mr Whelan sells them off again we will struggle for 10,000 crowds next season

    Decent goal too

Agree with most of what’s been said. If someone cant live on £25,000 a week then there is something wrong. Fifa need to impose this and it will make clubs richer, players more comitted, the lower leagues would be fantastic, (bit like us in the old 3rd when any team could get into the play-offs) and the F.A Cup would be fantastic, especially for the non league teams. Platini will try to enforce something like this soon because he hates this league. To be honest so do i. On another note, If it’s true about Hull then you can almost guarantee any club that comes up and a few clubs already in this league will slash their wage bills dramatically, So we have a good chance of staying here for a while yet. I bet the Premier League and Sky didnt think about all of this crap when they created the league.

Both as bad as each other for different reasons. Kirkland only has good shot stopping to his game, rebounding shots is all he can do and lets be honest, you expect any keeper to have that in his locker, useless at everything else. James is better but does make some howlers but in his defence Peter Schmeichel made some stinkers but he is still easily the best keeper ever lived.

    Possibly.

Martinez’ long term aim is to obviously build a squad capable of playing football the way that he likes; right now, we’re nowhere near that. We have the basis of a squad, but it is very young and inexperienced. On paper, our starting XI is decent, and if the league was played out on paper then we’d probably be a comfortable mid-table side, but after our strongest eleven, we have very little. Slowly we are progressing and developing the squad with the acquisition of very good players in each window and Martinez is, little by little, building a squad of players capable of playing to his ethos. But right now, we have very little experience and team selection is limited.

It’s a risky game, obviously, and if we go down this season then it will have proven completely futile, but if we stay up we put ourselves in a position to strengthen the squad again – not just in terms of quality, but depth too – and hopefully, or rather theoretically, we’d be in a position to push on a bit.

Managers need time to create a team fit to play football suited to their style, and Martinez has faith in his system and methods, and is obviously willing to persist with his beliefs despite getting tonked by Bolton and potentially being in a relegation battle, but he does this with the long-term in mind. If we stay up, his patience will be rewarded. If he abandoned his tactical ideology as soon as we go one down, then we’d never get anywhere.

He’s had two transfer windows, and been unable to shift a lot of dross that Bruce brought in during those (which will have severely hindered bringing players in), so I’ll refrain from waving the ‘Martinez Out’ banners just yet, and give the man some time. (I’d never actually wave them, because I’m not a moron, lol).

    That’s my tuppence worth, anyway.

you are singing from my hymn sheet, ive always said we need to give bob a proper transfer window, however the way he has got our teams playing this year is nothing less than a joke, not won two games on the bounce shouts enough concern to me. I dont blame Martinez though, i blame Whelan

    in reply to: KIRKLAND #26514
    Eh?

Kirkland makes the odd mistake, just like every goalkeeper does, but he’s one of the best keepers in the Premier League.

Let’s not just criticise everybody now because things aren’t going so well. Have a breather, think about it, and you’ll come to your senses.

Are you mad, man utd, chelsea and tottenham e.t.c would cringe at the thought of him even being their number 2 or 3, he is by far the worst keeper in the league

    Chelsea v Latics

21 points there. 46 points well safe.

I will have what he’s having, That is a maniac prediction. Why all of a sudden will we start picking up points. Martinez wont change the formation now, He is too pig headed. 4 points we will get and go sailing out of this league. By the time we play Hull it could be all over.
