Playing on a Sunday has sorted my little problem out. We’ve got tickets for the Motown night at the DW for the Saturday.

Will have to watch what I drink though.

Are we playing on Sunday though?

Nothing on the club site or BBC Sport yet.

It’s a nailed on certainty that we will not draw Blackburn/Millwall in the semi – you don’t think the FA are going to allow their dream final (utd v city) bite the dust at the semi final stage.

    You were saying??

    He’s never happy that Mon

Well he’s a Brummie and a Baggie what’s he got to be happy about?

    Great draw though.

Hope we get through and play Chelsea in the final. We will be staying with our friends in Woking in Surrey for the weekend – hopefully both weekends and they are Chelsea fans !! :)

It wasn’t a weakened team IMO.

The changes obviously improved us no end. Alcaraz in the centre was brilliant – no way back for Caldwell.

Mcmananman’s finish showed he is realising his potential and he deserves a start if fit enough.

Joel should stay in as well.Al Habsi is far too error prone at present.

Gomez also deserves to stay in after his brilliant finish.

My neighbours across the road have been strangely absent from Facebook since this morning :)

Can’t wait to go into work either on Monday.Loads of Evertonians to smugly smile at. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Agreed, Alcaraz was MOTM for me. :)

I hope he leaves the team alone for next Sunday.Fingers crossed McManaman is OK.

So relieved he went back to a back 3 today cos half the problem last week was the formation.

Back 5 defo has to be retained as does the front 3.

    Onwards and upwards. B)

    I’m happy with the team.Provided it’s a back 3.

No Al Habsi Caldwell or Di Santo which bothers me not one bit.

Slight reservation about Gomez but I’ll go for 1-1.

    Come on you Latics !!!!

Shows how much I know !!!!

    Come on lads. Stay tight!!

We started with 4 at the back. Scharner lined up to the left of Caldwell at the kick off and played most of the match there. We play all season with 3 at the back and then in a game as important as this we change to 4. No wonder the defence was at 6’s & 7’s. Maloney was wasted out on the right and the 2 James were overrun in mid-field. Great tactical changes.

Absolutely spot on that. Sums it up perfectly.

Scharner since he came back has been on the right of the 3 centre halves. Yesterday he was the left centre half in a back 4.

I sit in the South and is was obvious as soon as they lined up.

Tactical genius – Bollox !!

    in reply to: Caldwell #104304

He’s not quick enough to play in a back 4.He’s OK as the covering player in the centre of a back 3 where he can sweep up and cover behind the other 2.

Why did he revert back to a back 4 yesterday anyway?? And if he thought that was the way to go Alcaraz should have come in from the start.

Back 3 in future for me – Scharner, Caldwell Alcaraz. Drop Beaujalias and stick Maynor in as left wing back with Boyce on the right.

”Caldwell and MCarthy nearly came to blows after his awful back pass”

I can see how you got mixed up, the two who actually came to blows were Boyce and McArthur, one black the other wearing a mask!

Boyce actually gives McArthur a slap running back after a ball(short pass where Boyce slips leading up to Caldwells shocking back pass) which was neither his nor McArthurs fault.

Those 2 don’t get on imo.

I always get the 2 Macs mixed up.I just saw him have a go at Caldwell after the back pass. Didn’t see Boyce slap him.

I hope Dave gets rid of Martinez, the loser of the year.Anybody KNOW anyone WORSE?????????????????????

Go on I’ll bite. What exactly did Martinez get wrong today? His team had more shots on goal than Liverpool & but for some outstanding save from Reina it could very well have been a different tale.
    Some shocking defending/keeping didn’t exactly help either.[/quote]

Changed to a very flat back 4 and we were outnumbered in the centre of midfield.

    They cut us to pieces.

Caldwell is hopeless in a back 4. He’s fine in a 3 when he is the covering player. The gaps between him and Scharner were too big. They ran through us at will.

Caldwell and MCarthy nearly came to blows after his awful back pass.

Yes Reina made some good saves but it was a poor performance and we got what we deserved.

    Nout.

    Move on !!

Absolutely pathetic decision.Sending a league 2 player off in a major final when 3-0 down is a disgrace. Whatever happened to common sense?

    in reply to: ONE #103541

As well as the ones mentioned, these 3 spring to mind for me.

    1. The first half demolition of Newcastle at home last season.Arguably the finest 45 minutes we have played in this league so far.

    2. Maurice Whittles free kick against Sheff Weds in 1977 to put us into the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

3.And possibly my favourite. Good Friday 1979.Home to Port Vale 3-0 down with 20 mins to go.McNeill takes off Noel Ward for Derek Brownbill so we have 3 strikers on the pitch. And we go on to win 5-3 with Peter Houghton getting a hatrick. Absolutely brilliant. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
