the day a player in callum’s position (going to win the ball) back’s out of a tackle or jumps out the way, is the day football dies as a contact sport……………..sky and media blowing it out of proportion to keep up interest in their stories
i’d have done exactly the same as callum in that position, if he went in half hearted, he’d have come off worse than haidara did……he’s not even broke anything FFS…..wish the media would shut up
goodpost
Got no problem with the press and public focussing in on the other team being poor or controversial moments in a game – like the end of last season, the more we sneak under the radar re our performances the better.

On Ryan Taylor I believe his nickname whilst at Latics was Trigger due to him being thicker than 2 short planksNot difficult to believe if I recall some of his mumbling post match interviews…
Cheers galacTIC.I’ll be in touch if I can get to any of the league games. Got family coming down for the semi-final and the QPR game clashes with my son’s 4th birthday. Mrs Exile is very understanding but not THAT understanding…
Hoping yesterday was the start of the annual escape act. Callum’s tackle was a bad ‘un but some of the reaction from the Geordies and others is ridiculous. Life ban….hung, drawn and quartered…prison….Latics automatically relegated….dear me.
No worries – just give us a shout.
We see a couple on the Euston train – but we’re normally out numbered by other teams filing out on Saturday mornings. You guys ever get together to go to Wigan?Hello Roaming.
A few of us do go to the odd home game, but we rarely organise ourselves for them (and often we share a car). I suspect Villa on the last day is a likely outing by train tho! Let’s hope we’re safe by then and have a cup to admire!
Where are you based then?
But what’s the lad supposed to do? Wait for the ball to drop, not challenge and potentially get beat by his man? What if he’d stood off and it had led to a goal?
Good on Bobby for sticking up for us too and saying it was about time some decisions went our way.
So where is the true home of this thread then? ;)
Ahhh – that’d make more sense. RIP Tom.
JR,That’s a fair point. I’ve been reading this board since it started but never felt much like posting, even long before I “grew up” (note the inverted commas!). I also read Wiganer.net. Both sites have some intelligent, articulate and funny contributors. And both have some that are, erm, not.
Anyway, this is my twenty-something post I think. I’m obviously not as prolific as some others on here. I guess my ‘return’ (if you can actually call it that) has been prompted by the need to log in just to view the message board. I might as well chip in now and then if I’m being forced to log in! (It’s really hard work typing in a username and password…).
Whether I’m on here or not, Wigan Athletic has an ambassador in Berkshire and London.
Cheers.
Do I know you Wigan Exile? Are you one of the London Latics?
3-1 to West ham ha ha ha Classic ! God bless him RIP !http://www.itv.com/news/granada/story/2012-10-25/wigan-fan-celebrates-century/
Brought a tear to my eye that vid.
What a nob that reporter was tho “You’re not going to speak though are you?” TwatMoney talks and supporters needs are not even considered.
The problem I’ve got is getting the Mrs and my 16 year old safely back across London after the game as we’ve gotta get to Waterloo to get back to Woking were we are staying.
A potential nightmare considering who we are playing. :(
To be fair to Millwall when we beat them in the cup there was no bother leaving the ground and getting across London. Of course, I deliberately didn’t wear any colours and also didn’t say a word to my mate until safely off the Met line at Baker St.
KO time very frustrating though – was planning for this to be my 5 year old daughter’s first ever Latics game. Wasn’t worried about who we were playing, but a 7pm finish (later if it goes to extra time/pens) pretty much rules out me taking her :(
we travelled that day on our own minibus gala, parked just off wembley way.My son at the time was 5, a t.v crew was near by and came across and interviewed some of us, then a hale off ale cans, coins where thrown at us which was caught on camera,
Hence why I kept my mouth shut until safely back in central London!
Bloomin eck, sounds like summat out of the Matrix!
