After watching that inept, lackluster, mistake ridden performance swansea just put in against arsenal, he must be devastated he let martinez go to wigan for £3 million.
He’s absolutely distraught, Bob is the best young manager in Europe
In short, they are playing at a much higher tempo and with bags more confidence than we do. Oh, and I think they have more players with an eye for a forward pass than we do. And a couple of lads that can score goals. And some who can defend.Other than that, they’re nowhere near as good as we are. ;)
Oh yeah, they have a really passionate crowd behind them too
We have had 7 seasons in the Premiership with all the money that brings and Swansea have spent next to nowt. Hope Bob’s watched that because we are not at the same level as Swansea, so I ask again how good a job is Bob doing???
City are not playing great at the moment so now may not be a bad time to play them. I still expect us to get beat but I feel that it may be closer than people think.
Or may be not???
Didn’t we have Valencia and then bought Zog in the january window ?Did Valencia ever play under Bob??? I thought he went in the Summer that Bob arrived. Feel free to correct me anyone if I have it wrong.
goodpost i couldnt agree more with all them questions. Bobbys tactics seem to work when the players follow them, also in the times when hes been with us when weve been in the relegation zone hes kept calm and he clearly loves the club. Its not his fault most of the referees are against us! How people can blame Bobby for anything, he does his best and when the players do what hes told them they do fantastic. How can you blame Bobby???? I can’t believe I’m going to bite but here goes.
1) Bobby is the manager
2) We cannot blame the referee’s every time we lose, we do seem to get the shitty end of the stick but I’m sure most clubs fans would say the same.
3) As a manager if you have a style of football you have to make sure the players you sign can play that system and are good enough to play that system. The consistency is due to our lack of quality in the squad IMO. Top players perform at a level our players can only dream about, occassionally everything works and we look good but it is few and far between.
Spot on, absolutley spot on. The biggest single contributing factor to our habitual league position. From time to time our team plays as well as it can but unfortunately it is not good enough to play below its best and still win, unlike some of the bigger clubs with bigger and better (more expensive) squads.
Peanuts and monkeys, springs to mind.
Hindley, we are beginning to agree far too regularly. Not sure whether you’re becoming lighter or I’m growing darker ;)
Middle ground Griff
I wonder whether sometimes you can over analyse football. To watch a match 8 times looking for solutions tells me there are lots of solutions to find. Good Luck!It kills me watching most of our games once
I felt I’d answered that and wanted to know why we play poorly against the teams we need to beat.
I disagree.
Jr:
…can you explain how we’ve managed to match and actually look even better than a times, the majority of clubs in the EPL over the last 2.5 seasons, even Man Utd for long spells in matches?Egg:
Who is in charge of the task of ensuring that we are consistent? Who is in charge of ensuring we have a striker that scores once every 2 or 3 chances say instead of once every 65? The answer to both questions is Martinez and he fails on both. In this system that we play the midfield need to support the striker and it just doesn’t happen. How many times do we cross to one man marked by four, or can’t cross as there is nobody there and so end up going backwards? We can pass the ball around all we like.My answer would have been:
Lack of consistency. (The question was not who do you blame for lack of consistency? Or, in your qualified opinion, what tactics need to applied, or should not be applied?)It’s simple: play well every game and you will do well. Play well in a lesser percentage of your games and you will not do well.
It’s got feck all to do with tactics, or lack of ability, as the same team can draw with better teams yet lose to poor teams. It’s all down to motivation, application, conviction etc.
Lack of consistency – simple answer.
Who or what do you blame for this is an entirely different question.
The consistency is due to our lack of quality in the squad IMO. Top players perform at a level our players can only dream about, occassionally everything works and we look good but it is few and far between.
apperantly he’s good at darts, has an allergy to grass and drives around moss side with a pocket full of cash!Obviously very brave or very stupid even driving round Moss Side, never mind with a pocket full of cash
1) We are bottom of the league so no matter how much pretty football you think we play it is simply not working.
2) We need better players to play Bob’s system, style of play and I’m afraid we can’t afford them and if we do get a nugget he is sold quick smart. Also jr you tell me of one side in the world that is not looking for a goal scoring striker???
3) We get spanked by United every time we play them so which games have you been watching???
I didn’t think it was a free kick but by know means was it the worst decision I have ever seen. Soft at worst but should never have led to a 4-1 thumping against a poor Sunderland side who had run themselves into the ground 48 hours earlier.
I Should of been clearer in what I meant the theory of others that he pockets all transfers and doesn’t reinvest that transfer money into the club in purchasing players of equal qualityI’ve no doubt that the money is re-invested but players of equal quality???
What would new owners gain by whacking up the prices when we already struggle at the gate with the low ticket prices now in place, i guess they would wipe out a substantial amount of our home support in one go.Would you pay more to watch a good winning team????
I would.
I have stated on other posts that the coaching staff are 2nd rate at best and that Martinez being a rookie himself is in dire need of help.
Whether he has been offered proper back room staff or whether he would take it if offered I am not sure.
C’mon Mr Whelan its decision time, are you still interested in Wigan Athletic? No he’s not thats why I believe Bob is still here. Plus the fact he would have to pay Bob off if he sacked him and having just given him a pay rise and a new contract. I’d go as far as to say Fergie is in more danger
Yeah right, like whelans worried about paying people off
I would imagine that Bob with his new contract would be on quite a good screw so it would cost whelan millions to get rid. Can you see the old fart parting with millions cause I can’t.
why not, he spent 3 mill on that judas bastard from brummie, for him to turn is back on us
True but then got his money back off Sunderland and used it to pay for Bob. If he sacks him all the money involved will be going out of the club there won’t be any compensation except to Bob. Then he will have to find a new manager more expense, I just don’t think he has the drive or ambition to do it.
I wouldn’t worry about relegation too much if I were a Wigan fan, lower league football is where the real football fans watch the beutiful game. I’d rather see 500 of you than 3000 Man utd c*nts
Although I want us to stay in the Prem as long as possible , mainly to p*ss the pundits , media etc off , I still look forward to returning to lower league football. By then most of the empty headed morons currently infesting this board will no longer be Wigan Athletic fans and believe me , that will be a massive bonus.
Good luck to the Robins in the next round.
You want us to go down then you call other people empty headed morons???
