…well, he was born in Bradford by chance due to his parents visiting Bradford as his dad was singing there…
…..his family are from Wigan and he has mostly lived in Wigan all his life….He is still a Wiganer..
….But as Griff says…don’t let hard facts get in the way of making stories on this board ;)
It was – he also mentions that Wigan “attract” a disgraceful 18,463 in the premiership……
I was talking to a Celtic fan and he said that it is really cold up there and could get to minus 12 degrees Celcius
Well there is a good few of us who will be going down to either NC or FGR – a real away day with some good boozers around the ground…
It will be like reliving the past…. :D :D :D :D
I don’t buy all this “I’m not doing anything for this fella as he hasn’t played at the top” He is the manager. The role is to manage and everyone is answerable to him…period! If people don’t like it, they should be dropped.
I suspect that one or two players should be dropped but who do you replace them with? Bruce did it with Sharner last season but had the players to replace Sharns.
I reckon Bob is right when he says it will take a couple of Transfer Windows to get this right – I think he knows the players he wants to phase out and I think that this will be Mario’s last season as captain.
Although I was questioning Bob’s ability after watching us field some people on the pitch at OT, I think he will still turn this round – I hope he gets a creative midfielder as we don’t seem to be doing much with three ball winners in our midfield.
FFS! Robbie Keane…..he must be on what….£90k a week???
….and that goal celebration…..oh no!!
Agree with most things on here apart from Roberts. We should have paid Roberts near what he wanted. The guy is a legend and we still haven’t replaced him with someone who has the power and the presence up front.
Ellington was as good as Roberts would let him be. I don’t think he was the best striker we’ve had, but when he was with Roberts, it was telepathy…
….Paul Jewell and Bobby Campbell, Graham Jones and Graham Lancashire, Phil Daily and Don Page, Mark Leonard and….oh, that doesn’t work!!
Incidentally, who would you say the best Wigan Athletic striker partnership consisted of???
Loudmouth….to sack someone would prevent them from playing again….thats not the point I am making. Obviously, some things do need changing but were not exactly at the bottom of the league with 7 points are we?
What is more suprising is that we spent the 5th largest amount on agents…
Manchester City £12,874,283
Chelsea £9,562,223
Liverpool £6,657,305
Tottenham Hotspur £6,066,935
Wigan Athletic £5,527,548
Arsenal £4,760,241
West Ham United £3,576,972
Portsmouth £3,184,725
Bolton Wanderers £3,166,611
Everton £2,008,407
Sunderland £2,007,040
Aston Villa £1,708,374
Hull City £1,599,188
Manchester United £1,517,393
Blackburn Rovers £1,610,885
Fulham £1,469,258
Wolverhampton £1,235,703
Birmingham City £974,982
Stoke City £716,042
Burnley £468,398The point is this, under Steve Bruce, we would never have been beaten by more than 5 goals. The reason for this is Bruce would have everybody behind the ball for damage limitaton. Roberto doesn’t seem to have a plan B when things are going defensivly wrong. He should have changed something at the back, maybe push Boyce out to the left and put Sharner at the back…i don’t know. A lack of a good defensive coach seems to be the problem here.
we play some good stuff and things need to settle. The reason our defence were quite good last season was Bruce made the defenders blast anything that came near them – Roberto is now asking for things to be controlled and passed. Our back 4 are not used to this and have not played like this before (in recent times anyway). I think we have good defenders but you cant say any one of them has pace. Out of all of the defenders, I would keep Fig and Bramble. I know that view isn’t everybody’s view but we need pace and someone who has some vision.
Diame and Thomas are very good players, but with the failings at the back and lack of creativity up front, they are having to do everything and mostly stay in their own half as other teams know we are light up front.
we need a creating midfielder and someone who can grab a ball and have a good go. I would like to see an Arteta type player supporting a good striker, I agree a Torres type player would be great but we ain’t going to find one. I can see that Scotland can put it about, but Scotlands weakness is his pace and also his ability to see an opportunity (like the one against Fulham, he shuld have continued running to tap in N’Zogbia’s parried shot)
9 – 1 is an embarresment, but they were mostly good goals. I think any team in the bottom half would have been done by more than 5 goals yesterday as Tottenham were absolutly rampent – but it happened to us instead. :(
Superb!
Any chance of getting this Wigan Ath video on line? I believe it was the video shown at the fans forum??
Could we not get the video posted on here?
Jayt – is there something you could do to make it happen..
….I would really like to see it. :)
Done well, it can be a success. My only concern is that the Rugby tried having a club shop in the galleries once before, where Duffer is, I think, and it didn’t work, did it?
Was that because nobody could give a shit about the cherry and shite?

Think you need to do some research sunny
Well Smutty…..we could always take a leaf out of the Chubbies book and break the rules in order to cheat the system I suppose??
Your Avitar is cool – is that when the cherry and shite played one of those teams on the M62? Is that you and your boyfriend?
