Thought we played well today and a comfortable 3 points. Walsall were half decent, well organized and worked hard but offered next to nothing up front. In fact Dan Burn gave them their best two chances I think.
Great vision from Powell with the through ball for Grigg. All round a better performance than against Northampton & Plymouth for me?
Aaa, the magical merry go round of football management.
You never know he might surprise us all and do well up there. It is a bit of a tin pot league.
Didn’t see it BM but heard the debate on talk sport this morning. Absolutely no way do these decisions even themselves out over the course of a season. Refs defo side with the bigger clubs and smaller clubs suffer.
Standard of refereeing is definitely getting worse.Bloody robin get Whelan. Only in it for himself that bloke!
Oh the wonderful world of PC we have to endure… The people that actually think up these links between innocent phrases and racism need looking at..
Crackers! The FA seem to jump from one direction to another at the slightest whiff of controversy. Still think big Sam was harshly treated. Ruined Russia 2018 for us that decision did.
An understanding wife!
Nope, still not conclusive enough….. :pinch:
Just watched the highlights & not sure how anybody can say that wasn’t over the line.
His standing foot is clearly “just” on the line with his other swung back ready to kick…
Thought it was over on the night and convinced now. Linesman made a poor decision. It doesn’t matter where his standing foot is – it’s where the pitch facing part of the ball is when he kicks it that matters & there’s no way that you can tell from that angle whether it is 100% over the line[/quote]
I was sat in the South Stand for this game TL & in real time I was sure I saw the ball cross the white line fully. All about opinions of course, but just glad we won as that decision would really have peeved me.
Can’t make this one myself but hope we take a good following to back the team.
The leagues two top scoring teams meet each other, should be a thriller.. Reckon we’ll win 1 – 3 as both teams like to play.
They’ve been average of late, only won two in last five.

I’m not.
I have a Chesterfield supporting friend and so have followed for a while. He had completely lost support, pretty much for the same reasons as here: inflexible, boring, slow play with players who weren’t up to it, and who would be better being coached to boot to row Z when necessary. And there lies the problem with mr Caldwell. It’s ok having a footballing philosophy but you have to look at your players first to see what they are capable of. Always thought he was trying to emulate bob, didn’t really have is own ideas, and that shows in the fact he doesn’t / can’t change things on the pitch.
Think we can expect the usual JFH style of footy. Tight at the back & counter attacking only so think this will be tight. I’ll go 2nil to us.
Northampton don’t have many attempts on goal but when they do they seem to score so we’ll have to be switched on from the off.Two ex tics playing for them now and Leon Barnett scored for them at the weekend. Revell up front, let’s hope he’s as crap for them as he was for us..
He got booed at Charlton apparently and the booing today was loud…. shameful, couldn’t believe it myself.
If you’re a true Wigan fan that wants the best for this team you’d never do it as it could unsteady team spirit..Think you’re right with a reality check vat…
As JR said can’t take anything away from Shrewsbury they were well organized today and worked hard.
But that said, our performance was a shock to me. Poor in every department.
Not saying Powell did anything wrong but I’d have taken him off at half time. He likes time on the ball and Shrews didn’t give him any.
Our lot stood off, and looked like they hadn’t played together before? Hope that type of performance is a one off!! -
