Better to be The Queens Eleven fan than a Celtic bigot but to compare them with Latics just isn’t comparable.
WATP.

I would agree, they are in a much worse state and it demonstrates (yet again) what can happen to a club that is mismanaged by it’s owners.
Whelan comes in for a lot of stick on here but i’m pretty sure we won’t end up bankrupt with him in charge.

I wonder if Rangers fans would swap predicaments with us Wigan fans??

Who Egg? Maybe the Liverpool lad possibly?

The lack of new manager syndrome is because of the shitestorm which engulfed him when he landed. Under other circumstances he may have got off to a flying start.
Then he started doing what Rosler did, messing about with the team in such a way we were never going to score many goals, certainly not enough to cover our shite defence (Ramis excepted). I think he tried to play too many of our ‘stars’ who all happened to be midfielders.

At no point do I think the players weren’t trying to win football games and I suppose that’s where opinions differ.

The appointment of Malkay surprised a few no doubt, and initially looked like it was a bad decision. But that is / was not the reason for our predicament. Two star players like Maloney & Callum most definitely did not perform for us, they defo wanted away.

Malkay is having to bring in basement bargains for sure. But what they may lack in quality they appear to make up for in heart. I know what I would rather watch..

Time will tell, but I think this fella just might do a job for us?

It did make me laugh listening to big Sam explain how they had to drive him to Bristol City in a limousine because of his back injury.. Limousine / coach, is there a difference???

Think they have definitely taken the pish with this one. If they do get kicked out before the West Brom game then I assume it will be Bristol that get reinstated. If they play West Brom and win then who what will happen?

Dicko didnt do much for us but it worked at wolves thats how football goes

That might have something to do with him never actally playing for us ……. simliar to Riera and Delort

do you go actually go to games ???
That is a fair point you make CW. Didn’t see much of him but seem to remember him playing in the last game of the season at home (can’t remember who against) and thought he looked half decent, he had pace and knew how to find space.
Thought it was premature us getting rid of him considering scoring goals was a problem for us at that time.

This Leon Clarke has had a lot of clubs, hope he isn’t a bit troublesome.. His goal scoring record doesn’t look too bad and he likes to score on his debut. Let’s hope he does for us
Troublesome? Bust-up with Di Canio while at Swindon and then kicked out of the club. Maybe it isn’t clear who the troublemaker was in that case.

Looking at his CV he doesn’t appear to be a saint, but as we’ve only got him on loan for a few months he should have something to prove and we may benefit.
Couldn’t see part of this post DL. don’t know anything about this lad to be honest but looking at all the clubs he’s had on WAFC website tells a story I think?
His goal scoring record is half decent so lets hope we do benefit!

Personally I never cease to be amazed at what I am amazed by.

You’d have thought I would have learnt by now.

A point today, clean sheet, players gone, players in, lets take this opportunity to get behind the team, lets set this point as a marker to start again, give 100% to Malky and build from here… (Staying)Up the ‘tics ..

That was a very good point today, but the results from the teams around us took the shine off it. I think we’ll stay up just, let’s just hope the Wigan folk keep coming to support the team..

Very good post Garswood.

Is it just the older fans who remember pre Dave Whelan that appreciate what he has done for our club. Always amazes me how he is slated by so many on here..

Nobody will be on that at Wigan. Maybe in the PL but not the Championship.

That figure was meant as a combined weekly wage for the both of them. 15k – 20k a week wont be too far away considering both these were with us in the prem. I assume they would still have the prem contracts even though we are in the Championship (for now).

“There’s been a lot of interest in Callum over the last few weeks, but I have made it clear that we need a squad of hungry players who are 100% focused and committed to the job here. There comes a point where you have to do what’s best in terms of the player progressing in his career and what is financially the most beneficial for the club.

a bit more interesting

Yep. He said similar about Maloney as well.
Callum & Maloney were probably up there with our biggest earners which is why we’ve let them go. Wouldn’t surprise me if that freed up 30-40k a week?

Have some pride and resign, it’s clear that the players don’t wanna play for you !

I’m not so sure that is the case. We just seem to have a group of poor players bought by previous managers. This lot quite clearly didn’t want to play for Rosler, and most thought it was his fault. So we sack Malkay and get another manager, who says it will be any different? That said, think Whelan has made two very poor choices with two out of the last three managers we’ve had.

It does like we could well go down. Thought there was plenty of effort there today by most players but we just can’t create a decent shot on target. Did their keeper have to make a save today?
And yet another defensive error that cost us, why didn’t perch kick it into touch?

According to the stats he must have had at least 4 shots to save.

http://www.huddersfield.vitalfootball.co.uk/stats.asp?a=385755%5B/quote%5D

That is all well and good but I mean a proper shot, one that actually makes the keeper move quickly or even dive :)
