Two footed or both feet same thing isn’t it?

The Blackburn player was acting, ref got it bob on. Egg makes a good point, easy for Bowyer to create about this to deflect away from his teams poor performance.

We seem to be losing the art of seeing a tackle for what it is these days with all the poncey play acting from certain players.

No it isn’t – Going in 2 footed means just that i.e. both feet are going in to the challenge at roughly the same time
Going in with both feet off the floor can be used to describe the above but can also be used to describe a challenge whereby a player goes in to the challenge with one foot but the trailing foot/leg is also off the floor. And I don’t mean a centimetre or inch but caused by the player deliberately jumping in to the challenge as the TV footage appeared to show (although the photo doesn’t).
What makes it dangerous in the eyes of the FA & co is that once a player is in mid air he has no control over the rest of that challenge if it turns out he’s misjudged it
That makes it every bit a sending off as someone who jumps in with both feet towards the ball.

The photo appears to show McClean’s trailing leg was on the floor but that it catches the player after he’s released the ball so the ref got it bob on – free kick & caution for a reckless (didn’t get the ball & the challenge was late) challenge

I can also imagine that due to the speed McClean was travelling at that, that when his trailing leg clatters the Blackburn players kicking foot that it might have smarted a bit & knocked him on his @r$e. Not saying he didn’t make the most of it but to say there was no contact & he put it all on isn’t true in my opinion
We’ll agree to disagree TL. I’m all for stamping out bad tackles and there have been a few over the years. A good while ago when Fifa first started implementing these rule changes the media said football would become a contact free sport. I didn’t think that could ever happen but it’s nearly there!!

I disagree TL. He went in at speed for sure, but not two footed from what I could see. That does not constitute dangerous play.
Blackburn were a physical side and a bit sneaky too. They were trying to wind mcClean up and fair play to the bloke for not falling for it.

I didn’t say it looked like he went in 2 footed, I said it looked like he jumped in with both feet off the floor – even with one foot leading & the other tucked underneath him then it should have been a sending off for dangerous play combined with being late & with excessive force.
I wasn’t there on Saturday so didn’t see what was going on from the Blackburn players but again that’s irrelevant just as if you get chopped down & turn round & smack the guy you still get sent off for violent conduct.
The challenge might look different from a different angle but from the one on shown on the BBC I’d agree with the Blackburn manager that he should have been sent off
Huddersfield have the worst defensive record in the Championship (yes worse than us) So I’ll stick me neck out and go for a 2 – 1 win to us

What an absolute joy to see a player show passion, guts, enthusiasm, fight and a willingness to die for his shirt. I have been the first to criticise some of this fellas play in the past and Malkys idea of playing him out of position but if a player shows that much athletisism and commitment he is worth two of any other player. Granted he could have gone for that foul but with a few more players playing with his attitude would make us safe easily. Well done James.

Spot on Donny, much preferred his play last season as well rather than that lazy jan Bo. He has stepped up a gear for Malkay it would appear.

He got lucky – not that I’m complaining like, but it was very late & dangerous

totally agree with you yosser
whelan fucked up and got us in position we are now sell the cream and bought sour milk to replace
runs the club like he used to run his market stall buy and sell for a profit and some folk are too blind to see it
but you need to know the guy to understand him his sister who also worked in market never had a good word for him says alot really
yes i worked for whelan but never got the sack but i used to chat to him on the shop floor about the latics
but nothing left to sell now of any worth and he wont burden the club on his family even if he still says so
he will find a buyer but only when parachute money has all gone
those who trust whelan are either blind or stupid even a complete fool

If I’m not mistaken were we not nearly 70m in debt not too many years ago? That is when the tight old git decided to run the club like a business, can’t say I blame him. Wigan do not generate anywhere near enough revenue to continually bring in decent players. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t burden my family with a football club either..

James was also a lucky lad for not getting sent off for his first half injury time foul on’t Rovers Mon.

I didn’t see what all the fuss was about. Looking at their player I thought he’d been shot so that pretty much made my mind up there was nothing in it.. Ref did right not sending him off.

See mcClean put a picture on Instagram showing there was not much contact.

23 year old forward Mitchell te Vrede is being linked with a move to the Latics after expressing his desire to leave Feyenoord.
Reports eminating from Holland suggest the Latics want to sign te Vrede on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permenant move.
During his time with the Dutch club te Vrede has made eighteen apperances scoring seven times.

That’s not a bad ratio..
When we buy a player we need to play to that players strengths, to ensure they keep scoring goals. We’ve had a few players over the last 5yrs that have come with decent goal scoring records but then do nothing for us. That’s probably because we stick them up front on their own and give them very little service.

I am pretty sure most of us would not turn down this sort of money, if we had the talent to start with that is. In fact most of us would swap jobs if a competitor came along and offered you just a few grand more every year!

doesn’t matter which way you cut it, the sort of figures mentioned that SG has donated are very generous indeed.

That’s what pushed me over the edge to post Jimmy. Been on the radio and TV all day. Sure, a great player is coming to the end but surely ‘agony’ is not an appropriate word to be using to associate and to compare his plight with many of the Great British public. It’s verging on politically incorrect…
Very true. Believe he has signed a four year deal with LA Galaxy? There’s an extra few million quid for him to agonise over me thinks..

On a footballing note, his passing of the ball has been pretty average over the last few years. One pool fan mentioned this to me season before we got relegated so watched him when we played them at our place. A lot of his attempted passes did go a stray and in games I’ve watched since he can be consistent with this. Should be interesting to see how he gets on in the states.

Holt must be one of, if not the worst signing this club has ever made? 1.4m a year in wages for a bloke who has played a handful of games for us.. I suspect Holt will see his contract out til the end as nobody else outside the prem could afford him.

Well, seeing as he’s going to be out injured until a few months shy of the end of his contract, I suspect you’re right.

Wonder whether the club can get his contract paid up/cancelled via insurance? Not really sure how these things work.
No idea really, if the club can get rid of him now by paying him up and saving money in the long term then I’d go for it. Can you imagine the size the of him when he returns after 9 months on the old sick note :). Cut your losses now Big Dave…
