Stuff the system at mk dons…..They obviously had midfielders that pressed forward at pace to form a 2 or 3 pronged attack. Not our planted, pass it to death midfield .Being that they take an age to get into the final 3rd means defenders have a nice easy afternoon marking Grigg.Sorry but a genuine 2 up top in this league will at least give him someone to play off and create with.Don’t see our manger changing this anytime soon so I hope for us all that his system breeds goals tonight.
Granted Kone did well and it was in the Prem as well but some of our signings have been disregarded within weeks of arrival. Are we assuming that everyone of them became a bad player overnight ? i don’t think so .If we don’t give Grigg a partner soon then he will follow the same route.Won’t take long before his finishing instinct wanes and supporters label him as a bad signing.
Scored 20 odd goals last season in a team that got forward in numbers and at pace ,not the snails pace we go forward at.Still no answers coming forward as to why none of the strikers we have signed in recent times can bag ? Then have their confidence ruined and moved on .
We are a strikers graveyard……keep this 1 up policy and Grigg will follow the rest of our recent strikers down the goal drought path. His body language in the 2nd half was one of being p****d off .
And Delorts team top of French Prem.!!!
Couldn’t agree more .GC needs to get a grip and shove this 1 up crap or he will be the 1st league 1 casualty. What a ridiculous substitution, just when we were putting some pressure on and as for Davies I dispair……another useless lump we signed after we finally got rid of the previous goal shy dollop.Jacobs,Perkins and Griggs the positives the later will toil without better supply and some help.No goals in open play a concern and 4 conceded ,better hurry up with this gelling process !!!
Very disappointed with performance and result but hopefully a wakey wakey call.4-5-1 or whatever the system was didn’t work. Wondered when we signed Grigg why Mk Dons didn’t bust a gut to sign him ? but they hit 4 yesterday so that probably answers that question.Lack of pace going forward my biggest concern . Didn’t see anything in the pre season games to convince me we were going to”smash this league “. Caldwell admires Robbie’s footballing philosophy but I pray he doesn’t continue with this possession and play the ball out from the back as this is not the premier league with premier league standard players. 1ST home games will give us a better indication of whats ahead.
I’m happy enough with our transfer activity up to now, just having faith that GC and JJ have everything going to plan .Think a couple more outs and ins to come yet and maybe a surprise or two.Looking forward to the season start more than in recent seasons …..maybe that’s because I’m hopeful of winning more than we lose and maybe the rebirth of that song reverberating around a full stadium come May. …….not heard it for a while e I e I eio up the football league we go ……..!!!
So many for me…1.. can only be FA cup final.Still sends shivers down my spine when I watch it time and time again….2…Carling cup semi at Highbury. It was a special night and to be there and be part of the scenes after was unforgettable .To reach the Prem was unimaginable but a 1st major cup final was stuff dreams are made of……3….Wigan 5 Port vale 3 in 79 and that 13 minute Peter Houghton hat trick as a young lad it epitomised the never say die attitude that we came to embrace in the years after……4…Beating in Reading to reach the Prem….seeing grown men crying on the pitch…special….5..Derek Brownbills FA cup winner at home to Blackpool in the mid week replay. If I remember loads only got in just before half time.A full springfield park and that cold ,smoggy air .Hot bovril ,a fag in hand was what the Fa cup was meant to be like.
What about Stephan Bidstrup in 2000? Came with the “best box to box player in Denmark” tag.If I remember correctly didn’t he sign a 4 1/2 year deal ? and was released 1 year later.
Can see Filmoss’s point’s .This seasons completely embarrassing debacle could have been avoided and for me the management have made 1 cock up after another. I for one will still renew and get behind the manager albeit I dread the idea of more pass the air out the ball crap which will not bear fruit in league 1.Caldwell certainly wasn’t on my radar Mick Warburton with Caldwell as assistant was my hopeful choice. We have gone from FA cup winners to a laughing stock in less than 2 years and I like Filmoss will be watching our transfer dealings closely. What will happen as far as Delort,Riera,Holt ? Aren’t they still under contract ? Will the club recall them or pay up their contracts ? I could see Delort,Holt returning which I like the idea of. So yes it’s been bollocks but time to enjoy the break and come back and maybe win a game or two.
There goes the 3rd. Really are toothless.
We don’t look like we could score if we played till next season !
Please Mr Caldwell learn from others.Rotherham start with 2 strikers sub 1 but bring another on.Sat was a totally balls up tactically.Rotherham must Wi game so went for it shit or bust.Careful Caldwell went safety 1st and that was that .
Now league 1.Credit to Rotherham after being docked points to show fighting spirit. Oh and the scoring g opened by ……..wait for it …A striker .
