Lisa Nandy is a typical career politician who seems to have risen high up very quickly in the labour ranks. How & why?? What are her achievements to date that warrant such a rise to the top?
She was spotted very quickly in the Commons:
Lisa Nandy, London liberal elite parachuted into a safe Labour seat, a million miles away from the people she is supposed to represent! Are you referring to Lisa Nandy, born in Manchester, Schooled in Bury and East Didsbury, and spent 4 years as a Councillor in London before returning to the North West in 2010 to become the MP for Wigan? I would suggest that as there wasn’t a general election between 2005 and 2010, then she wouldn’t have had an opportunity to be our MP, so she got herself some experience where she happened to be living. Nowt wrong with that.
Just because someone moves away from their area for a few years doesn’t mean they become a non-local – eg Nuneaton Latic?
now mods please ban me no longer want to post on this site thanksI’ve seen Tory Tax policies last longer than that.
Really?
I didn’t realise Asylum seekers & refugees in Wigan were forced to wear a specific dress code that identifies them as such, nor was I aware that the accommodation they occupy is specifically marked so that their home can be identified. I certainly didn’t realise that they’d been given special dispensation to vote in a UK General Election when they are not UK Citizens.
If that’s the case, then perhaps you should be writing to Ms Nandy about how they are being marginalised, rather than mouthing off to her about a few empty crisp packets floating around. Alternatively, you could spend your off-season weekends organising a community litter picking day where you all don hi-viz vests for an hour and help clean up your community. You never know, you might even get a mention in the WEP!
I doubt it as only British Citizens can vote. Refugees & Asylum seekers are not British Citizens unless they naturalise, which takes over 5 years and costs a lot of money.
Perhaps they are not refugees or asylum seekers and just happen to be British Asians who support Lisa Nandy and are prepared to get out and canvass for her.
Again, you are labelling someone because of the colour of their skin.
Out of my team of 11 at work, 5 are Asian. All were born in the UK. Strange as it may seem, not all Asians in Wigan are asylum seekers or refugees. The bloke that owned the off licence on Woodhouse Lane for many years wasn’t.
Maybe Ms Nandy doesn’t reply to your dozens of e-mails because she finds your tone offensive, especially if you are implying that every non-white face is an asylum seeker or refugee.
I also like how he has been allowed to bring in his own staff.Sometimes getting rid of the backroom staff at the same time as the manager is a bad idea (ie Moyes at Man Utd), but there’s only so many times a manager can fail whilst the backroom team survive before one wonders why they keep escaping the axe. For the likes of GB, whilst he may be a club legend, he was part of the system that has failed repeatedly. The only person who survives that sort of regime is the guy who funds it!
With Coyle, Rostler, McKay, Caldwell & Joyce all failing in the role, the time had long-since come to appoint a new backroom team.
Good luck next season!
Half of my team at work are muslim. They are more upset about this type of act than the other members of the team, because they know some people in this country tar all muslims with the same brush, and they are very wary of vigilantes and retribution attacks.
All religions and races have nut jobs, and we shouldn’t be brainwashed into thinking all mass murders in the UK have been carried out by muslim terrorists. Hungerford, Dunblane and Whitehaven instantly spring to mind.
The hard core who would go to all games in all weathers will renew at that price – as JR has stated its £11.69 for the best seat in the house.
However, the hard core is probably around the 2-3,000 mark (ie the ones who love going so much they buy tickets for cup games).
The rest will see this as being asked to pay more money for a sub-standard product, and this is where the problem lies for the board – how do they retain as many as possible when the going gets tough. I’m surprised that they haven’t offered a two or three year ST plan, with a fixed price promise for 2018/19 and 19/20 if you buy one now.
As for the on-the-day prices, they are too high and will keep floaters away.
And before anyone says it, Sunderland have frozen their ST prices, which means 23 games for the same price as 19. Despite that, they are offering a sub-standard product next season (Burton & Bristol City instead of Chelsea & Man City) and ST sales will drop by around 30%.
Neither Pearson nor Keane would give the job consideration. Person’s ego and persona would rule him out.
Keane has a nice set-up with ITV and the ROI, and despite his “angry man” image, enjoys being away from the limelight. Plus he likes a game of RL, which would alienate many on here!
Get someone like Nigel Adkins in and come back stronger and better for it.
Sunderland should go straight back up. Newcastle are not a good side but have a clinical frontline which has taken them up.Newcastle bought players that are too good for the championship, but not good enough to be anything other than premier league squad men. The likes of Dwyght Gayle, Matt Richie and Daryl Murphy have all had ample chances in the top flight, and not made it. They were fortunate enough to have been able to sell Wjinaldum & Sissoko for magabucks. All this media love-in with Rafa and Newcastle is glossing over the fact that they start as a newly promoted side with a lack of proven quality, and as such they will have to spend serious money if they want to stay up. If this HMRC raid results in convictions, then potentially they could have even less money to spend once any fines are issued.
The Championship doesn’t scare me, and it doesn’t appear that there is much between top 6 and bottom 6. As some of you have said, Wigan are 23rd, but haven’t been thumped by a single team. The key seems to be organisation. If Moyes is allowed to rid us of the cancer that is Kone, Borini etc, bring in a couple of proven Championship players and set us up to be hard to beat, then we should piss the league like we did under Keane in 2006/7.
I think the squad is strong enough to compete and the parachute payment should make us competitive. That said, some of this squad have literally downed tools this season and are a disgrace to their profession, and the sooner they leave, the better. The likes of Kone, Rodwell & Borini should leave ASAP, Defoe will leave with our thanks. Pickford will probably be sold, but for big money, as he’ll be an England No1 soon.
Unlike many, I’m happy for Moyes to continue as manager, as there is a serious rebuilding job to be done, and repeatedly changing manager wont work. We’ve been the turd that could not be flushed for 3-4 seasons now, and the mismanagement at owner/CEO level makes DW/DS/JJ look almost saintly in comparison!
Relegation has been on the cards since pre-season after the FA/Allardyce dalliance ruined pre-season, and was pretty much confirmed at the end of August when Kone went on strike and we sold Kaboul for peanuts. The squad was a mish-mash of merceneries, kids, OAPs and a car-crash pre-season failed to make them a cohesive unit.
The atmosphere at away games is pretty toxic. To have almost 3,000 singing “we’re fucking shit” for 90 minutes is something I’ve not experienced before – mind you, it means it shuts the home support up because there’s nowt they can sing at us that we don’t already know!
I hope the big R is confirmed on Saturday as this lot deserve to go down in front of 40,000+ boos, rather than away or even on a non-playing day. It would be even more appropriate that the smallest club in PL history, and one that was in the 4th tier not long ago, are the ones who relegate us.
As for next season, I’m looking forward to actually going to games with the expectation of winning more than we lose!
Out of all the squad, he is the one that would command a half-decent fee if a Championship club was to come in for him. There are rumours that he isn’t that committed to knuckling down and doesn’t want to leave the NW, which may help keep him.
That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if he left for around £3m, which of course would be reported as “undisclosed”. He came on a free, and therefore some would consider it good business, whereas others would see it as admitting defeat.
I was responding to a question posed to me by the Saint – where’s the problem?
Oh and by the way, I noticed your reference to my being a stalker – I see it took you a whole six minutes to be on this thread hoying insults after I posted.
Happy St George’s Day!
