The sad thing is the premier league teams become more greedy & hence richer. Clubs at the lower end unfortunately become extinct. What angers me even more is the top clubs see lower league clubs as a burden.
I might be wrong but im sure david shearer scored a hat-trick on his debut.
I only said this morning that if this squad can stay together – it WILL be good enough to bounce back. IMO burn will stay. It wasnt that long ago when people were labelling him as worst signing ever.
Grigg is a proven league 1 scorer & will be back at his level. As too jacobs who isnt championship level. The only one who can go for me is jonny “attitude” big bollox. Sadly, i think morsy will be snapped up too.
Agree with what you are saying vat. It did return last season. Sadly this season has seen a return to the doom-mongers resurfacing. Admittedly it hasn’t been great this season. But yesterday with the support the home fans showed, what a shame that couldn’t have happened all season.
The support shown yesterday SHOULD be shown EVERY game of EVERY season – through good times & bad. No wonder opposing fans always sing that our support is full of manure.
I remember we asked them in the 90’s to help us (pre whelan). They wouldn’t. No way would i merge.
Would have been a different game had bogle took his chance.
If grigg does stay, we’ll have the best striker in league 1 again. Jacobs is good at that level as well.
Hi jay.
I would like to ask;
1) what the chairman/CEO (in their words what they think has gone wrong this season2) i hope they give huge consideration to the managerial position next season. If it means spending just that little bit more to get the right person in – so be it.
Bogle to be fair has taken a massive jump from league 2 to championship. Its a huge ask IMO to put the burden on him, espevially now grigg is injured.
Agree with all the rest. A lot more effort, passion & uptempo. Dan burn excellent again.
Really enough saying its manager fault ._..The fault lies directly at the top thats where our problem is
We are owned by people that are stuck with the club and cant sell it and wont push the boat out anymore
Thats why we get likes of caldwell joyce and its not their fault ._.Yes we know they where not good enough the owners knew and took a huge gamble that has made us see the worst season in football i have seen in years
Worst of all not one of the owners have stood up and said anything to the fans about this tragedy of a season
And why they let it get into this sorid stateWhelan out
But who would buy us.
Errrr no!. They are friendlies – basically warm up games to maintain fitness. I’d be more concerned if we go 4 league games without a goal, or more importantly 4 games without any points.Well i’m basically quoting myself here & the answer is yes i am concerned & have been for a while now. Just never thought it would happen.
Anyway! Back to the topic. Barrow has stated he doesn’t want the job on a permanent basis.
Why are you so shocked? Since relegation from the Prem its all been about cheap options. End of the day there is a kid now running the club, second and third generation are rarely as good as first in business.
Every dog has its day and we’ve had ours. If somebody had said to you twelve years ago you will have eight years in the prem, beat all the top sides, play United in a EFL cup final, beat City in the FA Cup final and play in Europe but end up back where we came from you would have all taken it!
So we should be grateful, and just accept the crap we’ve had since 2013?
I’ve actually wished that I had packed in going when we won the cup. I knew in my heart of hearts that was the pinnacle, and we will never surpass that. That should’ve been my last game, because since then, it’s been a shambles. 5 managers in 4 seasons….and each one has had a catch, unproven…prospective decent manager, young hopeful…cheap option…club linked.
Time to make a very bold appointment and bring in a guy fresh to the club, with his own backroom staff. Let him do it HIS way.
Won’t happen though….
What we have to remember is that we are a small club & always will be. Personally, im not happy with what is going on at the club at the moment, & i hope to god that barrow isnt apppointed permanentely.
You my friend concern me with your comment. As a supporter you support a club through good times & bad. Yes its bad at the moment. Yes i dont like our current predicament. But i will always support this club.
Who would want the job anyway?! Nobody worth their salt. No quality players, no money and no doubt a further decreasing fan base once league 1 becomes reality. No parachute money now, can’t see us bouncing straight back again!
There are plenty managers that would jump at the chance to get this club back on track.
We have a decent base of players to build on and plenty money from the sale of Yanic.
The fickle fans may leave, but they will be back soon enough once the results and performances improve.
We are Wigan Athletic, we have been far worse off than this in the past, it’s not all doom and gloom, we will bounce back and be stronger for it.
Here here, horc
What ever happens at the end of this season the chairman must take much of the blame if we take the drop and resigne .Sharpe could do no wrong last season & now folk want him gone. He is a young lad & hopefully, will have learned a harsh lesson from this. Even experienced chairmen get things wrong sometimes.
