Despite being a stones throw away from both Widnes & Warrington, I’ve never heard the word rugby ever get mentioned in Runcorn. And I’ve lived here now for 16 years. It’s mostly Liverpool followed by Everton, then a tiny minute of Utd fans, which is followed by an even smaller group of both Runcorn Linnets & Runcorn Town fans. Then me (but there used to be 2 other blokes I saw wearing latics shirts during the premier league years)!
Rumour has that Puma are going to produce a kit with ppe incorporating full headwear and gloves. It’ll be a full onesie style suit, fit tested and a special vent to prevent the eye protection steaming up.I’m all in favour and will definitely buy a replica kit, so long as it doesn’t have any green on it!
But knowing latics, the replica kit will come out way too late.
That’s my question too Runcorn. Football is still a contact sport (apparently) players have to get close to each other to foul, close to the referee to shout at him, close to the physio to receive the magic sponge etc etc.
Then there is all the back room staff, officials, medical staff, who won’t be busy elsewhere, needed for a match. How can they all stay safe?
Unless Edwards, there is a rule that allows the players, staff & officials to wear full PPE during g a game. Perhaps it was the EPL who stole the PPE from hospitals???????
I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I dont understand this playing behind closed doors malarkey. The government have advised that we need to remain in quarantine for some time yet. & even when the virus has run its course or died down, the government are still advising that we keep to the social distancing for at least until the end of the year.
So, how can football go ahead when players will be coming into contact with one another on a regular basis?
This is the only forum I use. You do whatever it takes Jay. And hopefully, as horc as mentioned, we will attract new & some of the older posters back.
Biggest smallest club on the planet!
Why did we have a season of playing Friday nights?I remember the Friday night games. Was it the very early 90’s? I cant remember the reason for the night games. But Kenyon will have had something to do with it.
I remember a factory in Blackburn that sold cheap kappa coats.
I pity the person(s) who has to make the final decision.
We have never followed anyone we have always done it Latics style always will.
That’s why the club is so special to us fans. Here here!
I think this season in every sport needs to be classed as void. Hopefully by August we’ll be in the clear & can start again as a brand new season. It’s bad on every team where they currently are in their league positions. But human life has to come first I’m afraid.
Returned tonight with real fear we won’t seen a bag of wind kicked for maybe 12 months. But what about LFC & their long wait for a league title?
I missed it, what happened? Did he make unnecessary subs who then got injured & couldn’t play again for the foreseeable?
Will it be mushrooms, fried onion rings, we’ll have to wait and see
For those of a certain age…..Hope its chips, its chips, we hope its chips, its chips!!
From what I’m reading on both here & Facebook, I didnt really miss much. The positive IMO is that this is a kind of game we would have lost only a few weeks ago. Another clean sheet to boot are signs we are hopefully heading in the right direction. Alan Hansen used to say on MOTD that if you dont concede you dont lose games. We seemed to have tightened up since Balogun came into the side as well. A great signing it seems. If only Jacob’s had taken his chance, we would have been comfortable-ish.
But onwards & upwards & let this fine form continue onto the next game & for the rest of the season.
