If he does get the job, will it be a case of ready, steady cook at the start of the season.

Gary monk is now available after resigning at leeds

Has anyone got the dates of these friendlies. Quite fancy a trip to southport.

in reply to: Why no manager yet .. ? #159351
I cant see him getting the job as first team manager as the bookies have Steve Mcclaren nailed on for that now.
He does however deserve a position in the club given his undoubted long term loyalty to Latic’s especially given his rather abrupt sacking in October 1995 that wasn’t widely welcomed at the time believe me.
He was also a player of some note and a real hardman footballer who allegedly once offered out Larry Lloyd on woodhouse stadium after a bust up in training.
He wouldn’t be my choice as first team manager in any way shape or form but to use him as a scapegoat for the clubs ills is plainly ridiculous.
Give him a job with the kids or just let him help out with training but FFS some of our fans haven’t half developed a snooty attitude that is usually found in the premier league.
We ARE an effing third division club now and and we have to deal with that and surely somebody who was a bloody good player as well as manager at that level is worth having around the place!!

Spot on vince

At the end of the day, it is what it is, and I’ll be renewing plus buying 2 new kids’ tickets, but I suspect they’d have got some uptake by adopting the same policy for kids in the West and East Stands as they do in the South*.

*My personal opinion- obviously

No!I agree with you standish.

Think yourself lucky you’re only paying £69.

I started taking my lad in his early teens and paying for his season ticket in the West Stand. He’s twenty-seven now and I still pay for his ticket….!

I thought i was bad at having to fork out £99. My lad will be 12 when the season starts

I have often wondered that had we have appointed mclaren instead of coyle 4 seasons ago, would we be in the mess we find ourselves today.

I do sympathise with vat especially his comment about forking out for 2 kids. As you say vat, if a lot of games fall midweek, then like your kids, my son doesn’t go either. Infact, i cant remember the last time he went on a tuesday night. He isnt keen on night games, especially in the colder months.

On the plus side. If you do decide to renew in E6 towards the back, my crew will be sitting a few rows in front of you. However, I hope you’re not a numpty fan. I used to have many a “difference of opinion” shall we say with the crew who used to sit behind me. When we first got relegated to league 1, they either stopped coming or decided to switch seats. :) ;)

I’m in that hard-core who has been gang since we had 3000 at Springfield, but even I am, reluctantly, going to have to think about things.
It’s a shame, because when you support a club…it’s what you do. You go the game. But I’m just not sure the increase is worthy of how we are at the moment and how we stand as a club. I also think it madness the prices are out and yet no manager in place and a bit unsure what players we will still have. Or will we all fork out and then sell Powell and Morsy on the eve of the season? And replace them with frees from Oxford and Chesterfield, and an 18 year old loan from Leeds?

Club is very slow at everything…except trying to get money off us. New kit? Not a dicky bird. Friendlies? Not a whisper. Other clubs think ahead so much better.

Are you going next season Dave, or what?
The suspense is killing me.
You & me both ;)

Paul cook is the latest name to be linked with the job.

in reply to: Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink #158966

It will more than likely be Alan Stubbs. Was in a hotel in Alderley edge with Sharpe last week for dinner. Either that or they are mates?

Very very disappointing.
Doesn’t necessarilly mean anything. He could be having dinner in alderley edge with ALL of the potential candidates – even gary caldwell :0

Fil, its not about us wanting to go back to being a lower league club and I reckon most recent fans from the last ten to fifteen years will probably agree with your views. The difference between us who have going for a lifetime knew the game when it was fun to be a fan and enjoyable going to games every week. The game has changed so much and not particularly for the better. There is so much pressure on clubs nowadays to succeed coz of obvious reasons and its took the beauty out of the sport. It wasn’t nice when the Latics lost and you felt shite but it wasn’t the end of the world and the next game couldn’t come soon enough. It didn’t cost the clubs millions putting them in real dire straits if relegated and I think a lot of fans from every other club fondly remember the game before the money turned it upside-down. At least we have seen success and boy have we but we were never gonna sustain it . The money has gone but the club is still very much alive and kicking . We are a much better club now because of the prem albeit it was hard watching us struggle most weeks but if it never happens for us again it will still be a great club to support and never boring. We will be a championship club in the near future so enjoy the ride.

Nuneaton! You could not have put it any better!!!!!

Fil! Im not having a go. I kind of get where you are coming from. I honestly thought we could have finished in a “boring” mid-table slot this season. However, a LOT of bad behind the scenes decisions has cost the club this season. If sharpe/jackson have any nous about them, they will have learned serious lessons this season & im confident that we will bounce back.

But regardless. Just enjoy the ride!!
