Not arsed, i want a ticket!
Use your voucher from last nights game, it guarantees you a ticket.
Since it’s on the telly I won’t be going now and offering my voucher to the highest bidder.
…. we’ve thrown a match that had we won, we’d have had to play yet more energy sapping matches….
I do find it odd that the club (I am assuming Cook and his staff didn’t do this without running it past the management) decided to do what they did last night. When you say the match was thrown are you suggesting the players were sent out under instructions to lose and to lose by more than two goals to ensure we didn’t go through. And if that was the case why turn out stronger teams in the previous matches and risk injury to first team players if it was always the intention not to progress any further. Finally, without a game this weekend it was an ideal opportunity to give a run out to some of the fringe players and keep them match fit.
No, I don’t think they lost deliberately as I thought they looked the better team at times. But I do suspect Cook put out the kids knowing there was a good chance they’d get turned over, and if they won, I expect the kids would have been given the next game too.
Not sure what the change of heart was from the previous games. Maybe his backroom staff have said the first teamers need a rest nd the extra games are taking a toll.
Whatever, I certainly don’t think he was overly bothered about winning last night – and him not being there pretty much confirmed that.
I understand the logic in wanting out of this competition, I just find it strange the way they went about it.
I was told Cook was sat in the director’s box but I didn’t bother to look round and check.
Anyway, one good thing was the voucher I got which guarantees me a ticket for the Fylde cup game. A great gesture by the club to the loyal fans that turned up last night. They must have realised there would be some moaning and groaning going on so nice of them to soften the disappointment.

So, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd and Man City all avoid each other in a Thai sponsored cup competition draw involving eight teams that should have been live but was delayed by 90 minutes after which it transpired had already taken place.
Nothing dodgy about that then!
Now ain’t that strange I thought exactly the same thing.
Be even funny then if bristol city, bournemouth & leicester win. Apologies! Cant remember who the other team is that is left.
That would be the squeaky clean, all above board West Ham United.
I gave myself a shake and in conclusion the lad is an idiotic fool who could have cost us dearly. Fortunately for the fans his team mates did not let us down.No one is suggesting his actions weren’t stupid or idiotic but to suggest he should be sent back to his principal club in the event of further misdemeanours is beyond logic. Maybe your paranoia regarding loan players has reared it’s irrational head again since I don’t remember you suggesting anything so drastic should be placed on Dunkley after his equally idiotic sending off.
Lee is not our player as he is on loan from Wolves. Anymore idiotic behaviour and he should be history. Back playing for Wolves development squad.Absolute rubbish. Give yourself a good shake FFS and stop spouting shite.
The officials were poor, but in the end, they saved us with that handball in our penalty area near the end. No doubt the Northampton equivalent of this site are equally as disappointed in the standard of reffing.Didn’t we get a free kick from that handball incident?
Roberts huffed and puffed but didn’t over impress. Grigg worked hard but hardly even had scraps to feed off.I think you’ve got the names mixed up there, except for the huffing and puffing bit.
Just another over rated foreign manager…….An accusation often levelled at a certain Roberto Martinez.
What’s all the fuss about?
He’s making the point that we prioritised winning the FA Cup at the risk of losing our Premier League status, which is exactly what happened. For Wigan Athletic that risk was worth taking because it was always a struggle and sooner or later would end up getting relegated.
I for one would never swop winning the FA Cup for Premier League survival. Not now, not ever.
It’s tiresome this FA Cup bashing. Make winning the thing an automatic Champions League place and then see how much importance the “big” clubs give it.
A cultured left foot, was how he was usually described. His left foot was well read, loved the arts and opera and had impeccable manners. His right foot was a complete bastard.
There are many examples around of the blatant cheating that goes on in games when trying to get players booked and/or sent off which adds support to the argument for retrospective punishments. This isn’t one of them.
Hopefully Cook will have words with Dunkley for his stupid red card which didn’t help us. He can’t be blamed for the dropped points, it was the missed chances in the first half.Of course he can. Portsmouth were never in the game until the sending off and hadn’t had a shot on target. Stupid action cost us two points.
Was highly impressed with Lee Evans yesterday. Strong, comfortable on the ball and did the simple things well. Excellent cross for Powell’s headed goal, ran the show in midfield and for all the effort Jacobs put he in was easily my MOM. Unstoppable strike at the end.
Early days yet but the signs are very encouraging.
I live on a social housing estate and from the amount of home deliveries of takeaways arriving at all times there aren’t many going hungry on this estate.
Back in 2006, a colleague of mine sank his redundancy payout into buying a pub in a supposedly “socially deprived” area. I thought he was mad and told him so. His response was “Poor people always find enough money for booze and fags”.
11 year later, his pub is still going strong and he is minted.
Are you on a wind-up?
Poor people finding enough money for booze and fags don’t go spending it in pubs. And the rate at which pubs are closing down suggests there aren’t enough of those that do to keep them viable let alone make pub owners “minted”.
And even if your ex-colleague has made a success of his pub in a socially deprived area that is the exception rather than the rule and therefore does not validate your sweeping generalisation.
