I, for one, am not posting on this thread because I have something to say about Martinez. It is the constant stream of shit and nonsense from the regular knobheads that motivates me to post on this thread. But I am thoroughly bored with it now.

I’m not too worried about Roberto either – I’m sure that he can look after himself.

But I am provoked to respond when the comments get more extreme and the insults get more abusive.

The Bobsessives have never understood that I’m not defending Roberto. If I’m defending anything, it’s truth and common decency.

And now we’ve had more than a thousand replies! We’re just going over the same ground again and again. I’m happy to leave it there.
Be careful. You’ll have JR claiming to have blown you out of the water again!
Not only do you claim to know what Bill Kenwright, his board and all 40 odd thousand Everton fans are thinking, you are know claiming to know what I am thinking.
This is getting funnier by the second.
Is this your idea of blowing us out of the water again? (You said it about a dozen posts earlier- so I’m not sure why it’s so funny)

Or are you going to defend your opinion and prove mine wrong?

Go on. It’s a debate. Try and post something more befitting of your age.
Trouble is, we don’t seem to know when JR is trying to make a serious statement or just having a bit of fun. Maybe he can flag it up on each post so we know. It would save a lot of meaningless responses.

Lovely place Coppull. Well, the tandoori and chinese takeaways are good. The rest is like travelling back to 1936.

Let’s leave Coppull out of it, eh…..!
Well it is out of most things ;)

The Mrs is from Coppull so I’m only joking.
That bit I can’t argue with.

            Waaaaoooowwww!!!!!

How good did Frazer Fyfie look tonight. :cheer:

Ran the game from start to finish and some of his passing was breath taking. I don’t want to go too over the top in case it was a one off, but he had everything in his locker tonight.

God forbid we should get relegated and have him leave for a bigger club.

Oh yip I forgot about that, first a 4 year deal then a 5 year deal that’s 9 years. They’ll probably give him another 10 year deal and the plan will be that BK pops his clogs having seen no improvement in the club and he will go to the grave with no egg on his face, but still no champions league footy at the Goody.

Bobby jumped from Swansea when he realised he couldn’t get them promoted, he jumped from Wigan having got them relegated…… his CV is building up nicely here.

Give him a 25 year contract at Everton and he will not take them forward. Still BK has the satisfaction of Everton having their best premiership points tally, a round of applause everybody and well spotted Barnsley, the toffee supporters will be well chuffed.
Wake up man, contracts mean diddley squat these days.

So offering him a new contract – on more money isn’t a reward for his performance last season?

Your bitterness is obviously clouding your judgement.

The Everton supporters and board are ‘well chuffed’ with him.
I’m sick of hearing people saying on here that Everton supporters are well chuffed, not the ones I work with. They started off loving his tactics and then saw a change that sounded like he had gone into that tippy tappy mode, with no real urgency to push on for a CL spot which for long periods, was in their grasp.
Possession means more than points to the blind fool, unless he realises there has to be plan A, plan B and a plan C, then he will continue to frustrate the supporters of his team, whoever it may be.

I’d say that a true reflection on how the supporters feel is that the jury are still undecided. Lets say its been a “getting to know you” type of season with the next one being more of a “we want more” campaign.

Yes of course I’m bitter, very bitter indeed, to the same degree as you and a few others are up his harris to your ball sacks and elbows.
I really couldn’t give a rat’s arse where Everton finish next season.

Castigate him for jumping ship. Call him a traitor and a hypocrite. Criticise his style of football, no plan B or C. Whinge that he didn’t prioritise those first two cup games or that he got lucky later on with the draw. Do all of that if it indulges your bitter obsession to see him fail so you can smirk and say, I told you so.

And when you’ve done all that remember that Roberto Martinez presided over the greatest achievement in this club’s history by tactically out-thinking Mancini and his multi-million pound players and winning the FA Cup.

Anything else you think needs to be said is just hot air and gossip.

Strange how I find myself defending Caldwell when I didn’t actually rate him either. But to say he was/is “dog shite” is unfair and inaccurate.
A similar quality player to Bramble yes, but to say Bramble was head and shoulders better is again inaccurate.

Except in the 2011-12 season when the things he did right was remembered well enough for him to be voted Player of the Year.

Never the player of the year that year no matter how good he was in the run in. Player of the last 5 months maybe.
To win player of the year that’s the best time to come good. During that last 5 months the whole team played well so he must have stood out quite noticeably.
No one is claiming he is some world beater but to say Bramble was head and shoulders above him as a defender is stretching things a bit, if you pardon the pun. Not sure you would want Bramble in charge of marshalling a defence.

He was/is dog shite, hence Calamity Caldwell. Funny how people will remember the few things he ever did right and forget about his hopelessness.
Titus Bramble was head and shoulders above as a defender and player but got panned for one or two mistakes.

Nice epitaph though, nowt for Jordi Gomez? He was worth one, he could play football.

Except in the 2011-12 season when the things he did right was remembered well enough for him to be voted Player of the Year.

When the time comes, and hopefully that will not be soon, I am sure there will be a statue outside the stadium.

I hope it’s made of bronze so we can make a wish and rub the leg – and I know this may come as a shock to many of you – that he broke in the 1960 FA Cup Final and make it all nice and shiny, like.

He is a Latics fan you know

A good one too. Used to be at Springfield quite often, and if I remember rightly presented Simon Haworth with a Welsh cap on the pitch before one game.

And just because many here don’t like rugby (and I’m no great fan) it is undeniable that he was a key figure in Wigan’s recent history.

I’m no fan of ukeleles either (sorry, Bernard if you read this), but it doesn’t mean the town shouldn’t equally honour George Formby.
If they are erecting statues of rugby players, in my opinion it should be of Shaun Edwards.

He’s much more famous that Billy Boston ever was / ever will be in both codes of the game and he’s actually from Wigan.
He’s not lived long enough yet and is still involved in the game, but rest assured it will happen at some point in the future.

Do you think we’ll get a statue of Bobby?

Making yourself look a right tool, in a packed pub when channelling pure delirium at Sterling’s early goal of the tournament that had actually hit the side netting.

That would be you and 15 million others then including whoever was responsible for flashing up GOAL and had the score at 1-0 on the TV screen.

The threads are deleted for the simple reason that it’s a Wigan RL board where they wish to discuss Wigan RL.

This is a Wigan Athletic board where those that claim not to care/know anything about rugby seem to know results/attendances/news stories as soon as they happen and wish to discuss them at length while turning topics about Wigan Athletic into bickering contests or ignoring them completely.

I would quite happily ban all rugby talk on here even as a rugby fan because maybe then we would discuss WAFC.

Here’s a suggestion Egg. Why don’t you change your avatar on the RL board to show Emmerson Boyce holding the FA Cup aloft, change your name to “The Tic” and see how you get on?

As the Chairman of a club in the football league he will no doubt have been given freebies and opted to go there instead. Don’t really see the issue.

Other than he chose to watch a football match between two clubs he has no connection with rather than be at an important event involving a club he does.

But as you say, not really an issue.
It’s not really an important event though. It’s a league match.

If he had missed the cup quarter final against Castleford then I’d have understood, but he missed a league match.
Not an ordinary league match though was it?
A “Magic” weekend was it not.

Normally by sentiments would have been with the underdog but for purely selfish reasons I’m pleased Hull didn’t win since it would have diluted the magnitude of our win last year.
