There are some of us that rejected Liverpool at the height of their fame and came and supported Latics though :)
And Latics have given us far far far more enjoyment than staying with Liverpool ever could have. Add in a son and grandson who genuinely are lifelong Wigan fans.
Am I a sort of reverse glory hunter? :DCan’t complain at 15 quid…..
Some do. Bullitt’s having a right old moan on Vital!
He’d moan if they were free
Doubt Powell’s going anywhere. He’s go no ambition and doesn’t want to leave the north west, plus he nearly quit football two seasons ago because he couldn’t be bothered with the pressure.
Promotion is worth a lot more to us than £1.5m so if he goes anywhere, I’ll be very surprised.
I’ve heard similar, that he doesn’t play football because he loves it, but because he’s good at it and it’s a job to him.
I doubt he’s that bothered about putting himself into a pressured environment somewhere else.Mate of mine who is a Rovers fan refuses to believe that Jack Walker’s money bought them their Prem title, talk about being in denial !
Some of our fans refuse to believe that Dave Whelan’s money bought us a place in the Premier League.
Quite a number (included not a few on here) believe he lined his pockets with the money from the PL, but put nothing in to get us there which miraculously happened as we rose from bottom of teh Fourth Division.
Schrodinger’s Chairman. All variants are a shortening of athletic, which is what my grandad used to call us, my dad used latics and my brother says tics, a couple more generations and we will be just the l’s….!Probably the same way that Charlton are the Addicks.
Jacobs is below par?
Thought he had an excellent game with lots of effort and skill – his final decision making let him down.
And did you see that run near the end?
If that’s someone who is below par then I hope we keep on being below par.Be a change not bringing in 3 keepersWell Sarkic has gone back. Bruce not happy that he wasn’t playing.
Frankly I wasn’t impressed with him, and we have two good keepers.Vaughan deal completed :)

Cook seems to be one of the few managers who see things similar to the way many fans see things.
And we could all see Toney was not up to scratch. My picture of that day
FA Cup.I’m not afraid to admit that I still cry to this day when I watch that goal.
Someone is always peeling onions nearby ;)
Hi Stu
There is a slight difference I think in our positions.
West Ham HAVE won the Cup before. It’s not in the realms of the impossible (maybe just now – but over the years it wouldn’t be a great shock if you won it). So in your position it may well be that for your supporters winning the Cup wouldn’t have the same impact it had for us.
Even our most fanatical supporter, our most dyed-in-the-wool fan, would never ever have believed we would do what we did. Even on the day of the Final most of us were hoping we wouldn’t be embarrassed like we had been when we lost teh League Cup Final to United 4-0.
It was out of this world for us to win, and as we had always been treated as a bit like pariahs in the Premier League (don’t deserve to be there, Leeds are a big club who should be in the PL not Wigan etc etc) I don’t think there are huge numbers who shed too many tears.
The simple answer to your question then is that (and I think I speak for most Latics fans) we would 100% of the time choose the FA Cup win. I remember being asked the same question before the final by a Norwegian TV crew, and answered the same.
Our name is on that trophy and can’t be erased. No-one would remember if we had finished 17th that season.
But I suspect your situation is a bit different.I’ve always held the view that public infrastructure and health, social care, education etc should be properly funded, and that we could hold TV telethons hosted by celebrities for things like Trident etc that people can give to if they wish
On a personal level may have preferred away to go to a new ground, and we were still late in with a chance of being away to Spurs at Wembley.
But what will be will be.We have made enquiries, but Griff’s agent is playing hard, and hinting that Vital Latics have put in a bigger bid.
We’ll have to see, as we aren’t going to pay silly money. -
