Absolutely superb news. From the fires of hell WFC are reborn.

The FIREBIRD has come to the clubs rescue. Very complimentary words for the Wigan Athletic Supports Club which bodes well for the future.

I hope the EFL will constitute an enquiry into the Administrators. They have been disastrous.

Good luck to the club for the future. New direction. UPWARDS. New Logo
Perhaps the PHEONIX (a firebird ).

Great days could be coming back.

One plea. Keep Cook away for life.

This has to be one of the very best discussions I have read on CockneyLatics.

I do appreciate that the Hong Kong stock exchange have to be informed of any change. The question why have they not before is because of the Chip Shop Managers legacy of the ridiculous extended contract for Cook. Sharp has created this awful position and an apology is required, or the offer to fund the payoff he agreed to! Of course that will not happen.

As a boy I lived in Middlesbrough and stood in the boys enclosure at Ayresome Park. Watching Brian Clough bang in the goals, before offside rule came in. That is another story. BUT we never saw the teams train before a match. Years later in London I watched Spurs, Arsenal and West Ham and whilst they had a run out. Nothing like the 40 mins before the game our players are put through. In my opinion our team is sent out tired. I hate to think what their daily training regime consists of.

Wigan have the players. The club needs direction from the board, a change of the first team manager and his trainers (even his tea carrier). As soon as possible.

Last week was a blip. Cook reverts to type midweek, changing a winning side yet again. Talking about opening with but never does., just cameo appearances. Cook cannot get the best from any player. Ruined Power, Grigg and many others. He puts experience over youth, however good the young player is. Look at the young players who brought silverware to Wigan in the younger sides, where are they all? Sorry we need
A Director of football, a coach and the coaching team. A message earlier reports that Cook used his coach to get him a tea! That is great man management. Cook has to go. Put him on gardening leave. Consider a player/ Coach someone like Charlie Mulgrew. He could bring in fresh coaches who could energise our players.

          B U T PAUL COOK must GO!

What now requires supporters to be more vocal. Cook must know he is unpopular with most supporters, but the Royalls and directors must spend their days in a bunker.

Time to turn the heat on the new owners. They are allowing the situation to continue and very happy Cook is getting all the blame.

A CHANT of COME BACK DAVE would be something that is directed directly at them. Simple and I think it would be effective.

A lot of people here who couldn’t manage a Whelk stall. Wait till October. It is not how you start the season it is how you start it.
Goodness I would not like to be working for them when real decisions are needed.

We ended last season in a very lucky position. But we have started like last season. Cook HAS lost the dressing room. No doubts Roberts will be up front on Saturday and he will continue with Marshall and Kipre.

The Cook era is over. Bring in Moyes. We have mostly Everton players here!

Parkinson would do well . So would Houghton and any number of managers who have managed in the Championship and Premiership.

But have the new owners and the Royalls and Board heard what so many fans are saying? GO for a big name transform this cobbled together group of players into a team. Get rid of the old men who are just a waste of a pay cheque. In January sell if you can but bring in young players with fire in their bellies.

                COOK MUST GO TODAY.

You should look up WiganToday’s football writer. (Who could not have been at the game) reckons that it was Marshall’s finest game! What a NUMPTY.
I agree with everything you wrote. But Cook will play Marshall at Middlesbrough and will most probably have Boro with their first win on Tuesday. That
I am sure will make the directors make a change in the team manager. They have to arrest this shocking start.

The red was a curious decision. He had already blown to give US a free kick, but before the play halted Williams went in and I think he did catch their man.
IT WAS A RECKLESS tackle and definitely deserved a red. Williams got the red as a second yellow booking offence. Well I hope this little fellow has learnt a valuable lesson.
Cook is a prat. Shouting like a yobbo is not what managers or trainers should do. That gives the players the view that it is right to criticise Referees.
Yes the referee was bad but so was the last home game ref and the one at Preston and Stoke games. BUT the EFL must be happy to play them. Time to bring the woman officials on. The could not do worse and Cook would be stumped as to what to shout. I believe that Cook will not be in charge at the next home game.

I watched the game and agree with most comments. Wigan did not turn up. There is discontent within this team. Did not play as a team very disjointed.
When I read, before the game, that Cook believes in Kipre I could not believe it. He would have been out if I was in charge. BUT how can any defender have any confidence with a goalkeeper as erratic and hopeless as Marshall. Jones, As has been said, should be there.

I do not believe the owners will allow this situation to develop. I also believe Cook is in serious trouble.

The Royalls want their Everton favourite as manager.

Former Republic of Ireland midfielder Darron Gibson is one of six players being released by Wigan Athletic.

The ex-Manchester United, Everton and Sunderland player, 31, played 18 times after joining the Latics in August.

Winger Callum McManaman is also leaving after starting just one league game since returning to Wigan last summer.

James Vaughan and Jonas Olsson are also departing the club, who have offered forward Nick Powell and Wales Under-21 goalkeeper Owen Evans new deals.

Powell has scored 29 goals in 99 appearances since joining the Latics in 2016 and helped them win the League One title in 2017-18.

But the former Manchester United player, 25, is out of contract and reports have linked him with a move to Wigan’s Championship rivals Stoke City and Sheffield Wednesday.

Midfielder Shaun MacDonald, capped four times by Wales, and goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe have also been released by the Latics.

I am sad to see Gibson go. The games he played showed he was a midfield general. His passing superb. I wish him well.

I also am sad Shaun Macdonald has gone. A 100% player who suffered a really bad injury. Good luck to him.

It does look like we may see more youngsters. Let us be positive. I do not want to see a team made up of loaners or over the hill players.

I hope management are positive and AMBITIOUS.

This was only the third or fourth game Wigan played well. Jonas Olsen when he came on was a real handful in their box, which is something you cannot say about Leon Clarke. I thought Kipre should be given a chance up front but I think Olsen, who was a very decent player for WBA, could be a useful sub. Goodness we still miss Dan Burn. One point is okay in the circumstances. What has happened to Nick Powell? His heart is certainly not with Wigan. It has been a great privilege to have witnessed a brilliant young player. Reece James has been absolutely superb this season, as has Antonee Robinson who missed many games sadly by injury whilst on international duty. Now please, if you can, explain the Gary Roberts situation. Given an extension yet not played since.

Whatever happens. If Cook stays he has to change his training staff. He has to go the Preston route and go with youth.

Good Luck against Leeds and Preston. Millwall will be v difficult if that game is the decider.. Squeeky Bum time.

WHY did he bring in Leon Clarke? WHY did he send Vaughan to Portsmouth? WHY did he not bring back our loaners and actually try
Our youth players. Anyone but Clarke. Kipper is another I would never play, although I would put him up front he could probably score.
Why ignore Gibson against HULL he was excellent but shortage of match practice meant he was substituted. Well done Cook.
WHY change goalkeepers? Sorry but Walton is suffering from shell shock.Jamie Jones for the run in.
Too many bit players. Too many incorrect subs. Cook absolutely out of his depth as are his training staff. Mass clear out in the Summer.
Salford City have a good manager.

Excellent article by Cup Winners which I agree with wholeheartedly.

As I have said I believe Cook is suffering from stress and should be placed on gardening leave and a interim manager appointed. I also firmly believe our players train far too hard. They are tired come the 50 min mark. Yet the train pre match for over an hour and how that helps is beyond me.

Cooks trainers need a shakeup, new ideas, new methods. It would also help if the owners via the Chairman actually makes a statement in the programme.

Division One football was certainly better than the tripe dished up this season..

The owners could place Cook on gardening leave and appoint an interim manager to hopefully pull us through.
Cook is suffering from stress and will not admit it so the club should advise him to see a specialist.
