The substitutions by Cook have been a source of amusement, at first, but over the past weeks a far more serious situation. He just has no idea. I believe he is
      Seriously out of his depth.
When I read his interview yesterday on taking Powell and Jacobs off because of fatigue. But with all the injuries, are they over trained? At both Ipswich and Derby
we sat down just after 2pm and they were all running etc. That went on until 2.45. Both Ipswich and Derby did half that, Derby did 15 mins. Players do not have
Boundless energy. I believe that length of warming up is ridiculous.
As for replacements. Peter Reid works with the club but I note that the disgraceful sacking of Darren Moore he is available as is Graeme Jones!

I do agree with an earlier comment COOK looks totally shattered. Give him gardening leave and let Joe take over till he is fit again.

I don’t think he has sold us a dummy at all, I think some people have gotten completely the wrong impression.

Having read the accounts it is obvious we are in a pretty poor place in terms of what comes in and what goes out.

DW always said he would sell us to someone who would protect the club and not spend money we don’t have and he has done just that.

People see “chinese investment” and instantly think we will become the new city. Yes Dr Choi the owner of IEC is pretty wealthy but IEC themselves are far from it. They have even said themselves that money won’t be thrown around but we will invest in youth.

I think we have got exactly what it says on the tin, but some people have bought Rola Cola and expect it to taste like Coca-Cola.

Having read EGGS excellent article, perhaps when you consider Bolton Wanderers in a couple of seasons IEC will buy and amalgamate the two
Clubs. Selling off one of the grounds for housing.

Cook’s treatment of McDonald needs to be looked at by the Board. McDonald was, until his break, a player who always gave 100%.
But he has the unfortunate ‘never played for Cook before’ stain. It really is beyond a joke.

I was for giving Cook more time. But after Birmingham, Swansea and Sheffield United today I have had my fill. At Swansea he was hopeless and did what our travelling supporters wanted, bringing on Garner who scored twice, but where was Garner today? Garner was a great player, likeMcManaman, Gibson, Connolly. Evans has been very poor this season, the only bright sparks have been Gary Roberts, Nick Powell and Reece James. Cook’s treatment of McDonald is baffling. So we get a team of youngsters with over the hill players destined for Division 2 or Tranmere.
Cook only wants players he knows. He has said today he has no experience in the Championship, so the players he knows may or may not have the experience. A new manager would hopefully have plans to change the formation when things are not working, something Which appears beyond the ken of Cook. But as it is. We are heading back to Division One in the fast lane.

He has had much longer than others. It is time to say “Thank you Paul, but it is time to go. We wish you every success elsewhere.”

I do agree we must get behind Cook. Three really difficult games facing us. WBA. SWANSEA, SHEFFIELD UTD. We could after these three and a Birmingham be 12 points behind.

It is also worrying that Cooks friend Celtic, whom he wanted to be Director of Football, has had the block put on by Joe Royall. So Cook must feel threatened. Give him time bring in a pair of defenders, two attackers and we should be okay. For the immediate two games I have a fancy that Kipre, who does not impress me, should be placed up front with one of the small forwards alongside him. He is tall, ungainly and fast. He can head the ball, anywhere and boot the ball anywhere. He could become our top scorer and in the summer we could sell him for 63million!!
I would replace him in defence by Morsi and put Gibson in central midfield. Morsi and Gibson are no good alongside each other.

You never know until you try.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

A bit harsh but there has been too much inconsistency in tactics, team selections etc. Too much swapping and changing and above all some atrociously poor signings.
In fact everything Yootha, Caldwell, McKay and Rosler did and rolled into one.
Injuries havnt been kind at all but not having adequate cover for those injuries is just not good enough. However we need to stick with Cooky through the rough and hopefully we can just stay up.
Just hope we can just survive now

poor selection, tactics everything you say is correct. But we must stick with COOK. I am not impressed with Kipre. hIS distribution skills are non existant. you cannot have Gibson and Morsi in midfield together. morsi in defence in place of Kipre and GIBSON midfield general. I would put kipre up front. you never know he could get some ugly goals.

Burn is an exceptional defender and I can see why Brighton bought him. Whilst I, too, get a little annoyed with the team selection, I cannot understand the constant gripes about players from alleged supporters. Supporters S U P P O R T. Not constantly moan and groan. There was a chap behind me last Saturday moaning every time Windass was on the ball. Why come if you just want to moan. I could not stop laughing when the lad scored.

But I would like to see two up front with Powell behind them. With Burn back in defence put Kipre up front with Windass. Been impressed with Kipre’s attacking prowess. Brings height and strength. Gibson in the centre of Midfield alongside Morsi would, hopefully provide positivity there.

Lee Evans has not given as much to the team as last year.

Dan Burn. Player of the year, season before last, gave 100% every game. A terrific player. I thank him on behalf of my family, all season ticket holders, for his time at Wigan and, whilst we will still see him in our defence this season, albeit not every game, WE wish him every success when he eventually starts his journey with Brighton.

Personally I believe he will do very well in the Premiership. Negative comments here are rather disengenious considering the service this player has given.

I would hope that Burn will be given support and thanks and not have to put up with the boo boys, who forget that people in all walks of life change jobs.

Prices now announced and I’m not happy

                                http://www.wiganlatics.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/2017-18-season-cards-and-matchday-tickets-3721046.aspx

Adult tickets are sort of OK (we need to balance the books and last year was a bargain), but my 6-year-old grandson who loves “his seat” in the East Stand, where he has sat for the past 3 years loyally, is now expected to be charged £69.

If we were in the South Stand it would be free, or at most £29. But we don’t want to go in the South Stand. Why are the club trying to pen all families in there. There are loads of kiddies in the West and East Stands.

All prices should be comparable. OK if you make it a bit cheaper in teh South – I’ll even accept free with an adult in teh South, but £29 elsewhere. But £69 for a 6-year-old? People just aren’t going to take the kids, and that’s the future support of the club gone.

I really think they should think again, before they penalise people who just want to take along youngsters. If there is a party of adults, but one wants to regularly bring their child, then it is not reasonable to ask everyne in the group to move to the South Stand.

Totally agree with you there, George.

Only Latics could hike prices up after relegation. We will DEFINITELY be waiting to see who comes as manager, etc. Now. It’s going to cost us over £800 for 2 adults and 2 young kids. It’s actually a disgrace.

And no, definitely do not go in the south stand. We did that this season and it was abysmal. Terrible view (not that there was much to see) and no atmosphere or feeling of fan camerardrie.

But the fact it’s going to cost us over 800 to sit on the side, as opposed to around 500 from last season……

I am seriously thinking of not bothering.

Well done once again, Latics. You’ve made a big big mistake, once again.[/quote]

I do agree. We will wait until we see who the new manager is. Hopefully with his own training staff. The signs do not look hopeful. Barrow is talking as if he will still be in charge, God Forbid. Sharp is reported as looking to bring in players. Goodness what if the new manager does not want them? Useless after relegation carrying on regardless as if you (in this case Sharp & Barrow) know best.

Let the new man get on with the job. Bring him in this week and, hopefully, I will buy the three season tickets.

It looks like Division One Football again. Last night’s result was another nail in the coffin.

I do believe the Chairman should now bring in an experienced manager. Phil Brown has done a remarkable job on very meagre resources at Southend. He is the only English born manager in Division One. There are so many looking for a job. I do hope Sharp looks ahead.

But Sharp, himself, had better sharpen up. He should allow the new manager to identify the players HE wants. NOT recruit by committee and certainly not a team loaded with loanees. But so many players have not given their all. So many have appeared unfit from day one of the season. I exclude Burns, Gilks in that. Many must be moved on.

Sharp must allow a new manager to have his own training staff and it must be Thank you and goodbye to Barrow and the rest. They have failed the club.

If the Latics cannot beat Rotherham all hope is lost.
