Yes, totally agree, and in all honesty I thought the same myself.
The only problem with that for me is that if we have sold around 15k tickets so far, haven’t the greater percentage of them been sold to ST holders anyway? I’m not convinced we’ve sold many to non ST holders anyway.
And also, if they did make it Semi ticket holders after ST holders, how would they administrate it? Can used tickets be swiped and show who was the purchaser? Tickets don’t have your name on, do they? I just think it could get chaotic.How’s about if we get in the final Mr Whelan lays on some coaches and on production of your semi ticket you travel for free?

Bribed? All us lot with tickets for the semi are the loyal ones. Its more about a gesture of thanks for what is many a very expensive do. As the club have earned money throughout our cup run, 100 coaches would probably cost £100,000 which is peanuts really. Every nob in town will want a final ticket if we get there.[/quote]
I watch the team because I want to. I’ve been more than amply rewarded for my support by witnessing the goings on over the years, from non-league to the verge of European football. But what would you suggest for my dad, who is currently recuperating from an operation and is physically unable to make it to the semi final but should be ok for the final? The only cup game he hasn’t been to was Bournemouth away? And do you honestly believe that everybody that is going next week are loyal week in week out ones? I know 2 that have never been to one our games in their lives. Should they get free travel but not my dad? It is just unworkable.

Depending on which steward you spoke to this morning Latics had sold between 13,800-15,000 tickets before the ticket office opened up this morning

I would imagine you can add a few seeing as those figures were before the ticket office opened for general sale. I know a couple of people that went that morning and got half a dozen tickets each. I would guess the figures now would be between 15k and 17k. No doubt we’ll have the urine extracted, but would we really have expected us to sell many more for a semi final?
I’ve got £60 tickets and wished I hadn’t bothered. I’m right at the front of block 118 which is in the corner and low down. When I tried to swap them the girl said they have to be sold according to ‘FA rules’ which seems to mean they sold the cr@p ones first!She also said that sales were quick to begin with but were actually very disappointing and they do not expect to sell beyond block 118 (blocks 119, 120, 121 and 122 will go back) :(
I think there must have been a change of plan, as I know somebody with tickets in block 119.

Brian Sabin is still with us, but I’m not sure if he still goes to games. He was in very bad health the last I heard.
I don’t think anybody actually knows what’s going on. I got mine very early on Sunday and I’m in block 104. Looking at the map, the first block of £60 were for block 102, meaning that even before lunch on Sunday they were on to the third block, and I wouldn’t think that none have been sold since then.
Although I rose to the bait a few time previously these threads tend to get on my nerves. SDW just doesn’t know when to stop and it’s beyond tedious.
But there is an attendance discussion in the rl fans wigan forum that does put a bit of a slant on this. Pretty much everybody that contributed has admitted that the attendance was actually probably about the 8000 mark.
It just goes to show that all the fiddled attendance barbs that we get are pretty unjustified. I’d like to think it’ll put an end to them but I know it won’t.
I couldn’t give a toss what Maurice Lindsay is thinking. This is a high point in Latics history. Why not just enjoy it for what it is? And before you come out with the predictable response, yes I was a supporter at the time and remember what was said and done. But it has as much relevance to what’s happening today as Mike Tyson has to ballet dancing.
Yes it’s a cup match. A quarter final of the FA Cup with a trip to Wembley if we win. We would have charged a little less, but they know they will sell out all their tickets so why should they knock them out at any less? It’s a bigger than normal FA Cup game for us, so you can expect to pay a bigger than normal price. God help you if we do get to Wembley and you see the prices they charge.
