I would certainly miss a league that is obsessed with Champions league qualification and relegation battles.I would also miss the disregard shown to cup competions and the 12 clubs who fight relegation each year to the detriment of everything else i.e europe, cups.
It would be terrible to have more games to watch and away trips to places like Preston,Sheffield,Leeds etc.How awful would it be to have to compete in the cups seriously and watching players who are hungry and motivated?
Dont want any of that thank you?

Played Fulham in the snow november 1996.Game was played despite a huge fall in the morning and martinez scored the goal in a 1-1 draw-they brought a fair old mob of boys if i remember rightly.

My first RL game was when i tagged along after a night out for the 1984 Challenge cup final versus Widnes and saw the ‘family supporters’ of our (in) famous Rugby league club dismantle London Euston station and the surrounding streets upon their arrival. The following year they greeted Arsenal supporters travelling to an away game by patting their heads with their knuckles.
I seem to also remember them taking a very large mob of casuals over to Salford for a game later that same year. Not been since i dont like the game but it still goes on however our local media seem to disregard this completely painting the stereotypical image of fat jolly types who hail from Ince,Scholes,Chorley and Leyland.
Warrington though is a nasty narrow minded town in my view and the behavour you mention doesnt surprise me.
Hope they catch these thugs.

Moses looks like a player that have missed this season skilful and lightening quick! He almost scored on wednesday and was only on the pitch 10 minutes.
Manuel has to play him tomorrow surely?

Why oh why pay £2.5 million for possibly the most highly rated striker outside the PL then leave him on the bench until 10 minutes before the end?
He came on and almost scored with one of his first touches and looked the liveliest player on the pitch all evening. The sad thing was that again we were very fortunate at the end to come away with that point and again i have never seen as many mistakes from a top flight Latics team as i have with this one.
The constantly give the ball away, drop stupid airborne balls that end up in touch, pass silly balls around at the back and in midfield that put us in trouble, give crazy corners away near the end of games(our weakest aspect),attempt stupid acrobatic shots when asimple cutting pass is on. i could go on and on!
That is theteam we have today and you have the audacity to question the fact as to why the crowd booed at the end.
The performances at the moment are dreadful and we will get slaughtered if we play like that
on sunday.

Dont be so sure i think a shock could be on the cards particularly in the Wigan seat.
Turner had an 11,000 majority at the last election and that could easily fall this time.
The Tories i think have a candidate by the name of Micheal Winstanley standing who im sure is a Wiganer isnt he?The imported luvvie could face a backlash from the traditionalists so it could be a split vote if some of floating Labourites defect to the Liberals or the Tories. Not sure it is so cut and dried this time and an 11,000 majority looks very unlikely in my view.

The Tory governments sold off all the family silver gas, electricity, telephones and offered the british public cheap shares in these utility companies and the promise of an instant killing on them. Most of the general public sold them back to the city so the result of this twenty plus years later is sky high bills and oldpeople ringing there hands and complaining(probably the same bloody people who bought the original shares) that they cannot afford to heat their house during the cold snaps.
Wasnt it also the fact that the newly privatised companies then decided to import cheap coal from abroad to fuel their power stations and probably escalated the closure of our own coalmines because they could not compete on price.
I blame one person for that and our town and many others up here suffer to this day from these dreadful policies.Government decisions are far reaching across the decades and we are now paying for those decisions in the past.To be honest though the last twelve years have seen little improvement in the UK in fact i think things are a lot worse and i am left wondering what difference there was between Thatcher and Blair.Very very little!

BTW

I WILL NOT be not voting for the imported Labour Luvvie it is a disgrace! I urge all Wiganers to vote against this nonsense.I want a Wiganer representing me not somebody from down south and my cross will be next to the person who comes from the town not some career politician seeking the safe haven of an easy seat.

As it has taken 15 years to grow our fanbase by 15,000+ – from 1841 in 94/95 to 18,413 last season, is it not fair to assume it will be another 7-10 years or so until we reach 25,000?

Considering we got over 20,000 on average in 05-06, we would have loads if we had continued at that rate of success. Proves how many JCl’s we had that season.
and also a reason why I didn’t quote that season, things have levelled out over the last two/three years after the initial surge when we were promoted.

Anyways, it wasn’t the point I was trying to get across, the fact that it has taken 15 years to get crowds of 18k average means it could well be another 10 years before we could look to getting near 25k.

There are still a LOT of scousers in Wigan (especially the Winstanley quadrant) that won’t change their allegance and will also bring their kids up supporting the red and blue teams in Liverpool. Even though it is bodering on child abuse they will still do it and social services will do nothing about it.
They are not scousers as you put it they are probably sons/daughters of ex pat scousers who moved here in the 1960’s 1970’s and 80s.Or even worse sons and daughters of plastic scousers who moved from that great concrete mess called Skem in the 90s.
They try to speak with some over the top broad scouse accent(plastic scouse) but in reality they are Wiganers cos they were born here.My Mum and Dad moved in here in the sixties and to a large extent adopted the town as their own. These placky scouser p’ss me off they move here and then try to recreate some Toxteth sh’thole in the middle of the town that has welcomed them in and dont support the local teams. If wigan went to war with Liverpool tomorrow i would be in the Wigan camp without a doubt because this is my birthplace and where i was reared -give me a proper scouser any day than this bunch of nobs

He has wrote against Latics in the past with jibes about our chairmans opinions. He talks utter cr@p in that article forgetting that merit has got the club to the top flight just as it is merit that has seen Leeds fired off to the third division.
He also says the ground is souless doesnt he?
This coming from a Liverpool fan is unreal as Anfield surely has to be one of the most souless grounds in the country these days-more atmosphere and noise in a graveyard. :x

Aye some of the other teams around us Burnley and Hull WON today didnt they?
