to say that tonight was the best performance i have seen from a wigan athletic team for 3 seasons.
Aye not so bad, it was awesome. How good is Cleverley. Superb, his vision and determination is the kind of personality we need in our starting 11. If i was nit picking id say that, Alcaraz and Figgy were caught out of position a few times and Thomas’ wayward passing could have lost us a lot more midfield ground but wow, i couldnt believe what i was seeing, Was that really the same set of players that tipped up at craven cottage. I wish they would make their mind up this team. Are they shit or are they outstanding at passing and fearless going forward. They like to keep us guessing dont they. Perfect time to prove it and build against the Baggies. The perfect test.
Hope im wrong but we will have plenty of play and then Liverpool will bang in a few goals. 0-3
Indeed.
How much longer can this go on?
How much longer can a provincial town with 55 million of debts and losses, and barely 10000 home fans continue to sustain a place in the English Premier League. Especially when a fair chunk of the spoilt brats who claim to support the team amongst that 10000 are spitting their dummy out at the manager for not beating a team who we’ve never beaten at their ground, except for a lancashire cup tie in the mid eighties ( & even that was on penalties IIRC ) Even when they would have beaten that team were it not for some shocking refereeing & linesmen’s decisions. Grow up and give yourselves a shake you big mary ellens, and get behind the team, the way some of you behave its like you want us to get relegated :roll:Scholes did you actually read my post or just the title???? The question I asked was how when going to a yellow water poor team like Blackburn Bob can justify playing 7 defensive minded players. IMO we don’t even give ourselves a chance of winning the game with that team.
I believe with the players we have there is a decent side trying to get out but I’m afraid Bob wont find it as long as I’ve got a hole in my kaiber.
I dont really see how you disagree with hindley to be honest. He is 100 percent correct, before it kicked off yesterday i said the same thing, I said to my mate that we will have loads of the ball then no one will be there to bang it in the net. i predicted 3-0 when i saw the team. What pisses me off the most about martinez is he wont play any strikers up fron but as soon as we go a couple behind he throws them on. I dont get the point he is trying to prove
I agree with truelatic, if they live in wigan what is the problem. When chelsea e.t.c come up here and the wigan teenagers go to the ticket office in their black gangster accents do they get turned away too
I think its probably about time to be honest. all great things have to come to an end soon. I would rather him sell up than die in the job. He has been edging towards it for a little while now and whilst i think he is making the right decision there will always be only one dave whelan and he should have a statue erected outside the stadium
eeerm, he earns £90,000 a week, he would probably take a drop to around £50,000, the only chance any club of our calibre would have would be Fulham on loan, he will head off abroad, Probably to Germany
Yeah draw written all over it however i may be tempted into a cheeky treble with 3 aways involving wigan
Michael Millet – Promising young midfielder tragically killed
Yosser_Hughes,Z – Amr Zaki ;)
Ooops
Just to get the obvious out of the way
Kilford
Lyons
Morgan
Nicholls
O’Keefe
Patterson
Quinn
Roberts
Smeets
Thompson
Urquhart
Valencia
Whitworth
X – ?
y – ?
Z – De Zeeuw – Only one i can come up withIn the warm up, Graeme Jones was giving him a right old bolocking,i dunno what for exactly but it seemed for not trying enough in the 2 teams possession in a small area thingy
Bosseli was not signed for his pace though, he has never had it. He is more like a Berbatov, He isnt lazy he just has a certain way of playing. People only think he is lazy because they are institutionalised to the ‘if he is quick, use him’ way of the premiership. Players who actually have talent and a bit of skill dont get a look in because they are behind the slightly quicker other player.
Ashley Young, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Aaron Lennon, e.t.c e.t.c, what exactly do these players have apart from their pace.
Yeah Marvin Emnes, Dont know if he is on loan or permanent but he was quite a handful, as was Pratley. Emnes cost Boro about 5m i think, think he was from Twente or someone similar
Tick tock, the clock is ticking as we move nearer to the day football implodes.
if Dave keeps our house in order as he has done so far hopefully we will survive, but I fear many are on the slippery slope.
Players have become too powerful, clubs have got to start sticking up for themselves more, and tell them to f*ck off.
I have been saying it for a while now, NO player is worth £70,000+ per week, I struggle to make myself beleive that they are worth that a year.
The money from revenues should be going back into the the Football Clubs and dare I say back into Football itself.
There are people on all sorts of boards and commissions wondering where the next ENGLISH stars are going to come from, look no further than the lack of funds going in to academies in the various Football Clubs and into grass roots via the FA, because the players and agents milk an astonishing 70+% of it all.
It wouldn’t be too bad if just some of these players would publically show that they give something back to the sport that gives them their millionaire lifestyle, but except for Christmas, contracted (paid for) appearances and exceptional circumstances we see nothing.
Is there anybody out there, apart from players and agents, who can give a reason why they are allowed to bleed the sport dry?
Try to stay away from the ‘its the players that get the results’, ‘its the players that sell the shirts’ or ‘its because of the players that the money is on the sport’. At the end of the day it is me, you and everybody who goes to games and/or watches the sports channels that make football a success, as a straw poll, would our attendances or revenues go up if say Rooney decided to sign for us… I think not.
Exactly jayt, There should be a worldwide cap of £20,000 me thinks a week, and that is being generous. that is a lot of money and if all clubs had this then player power would be no more. every single club would benefit from it and the days of administration would be gone. Its a knock on effect, the lower league clubs will profit. The leagues would be multi rich for their respective divisions and the standard of football would be a lot better. It’s time we saved our game from quote “imploding”, which is correct
Kirkland is barely good enough for the championship let alone relegation scrappers in the premiership. Al Habsi is a proper keeper. Someone who orders the back 4 and can actually move and go to ground when required. Old glass back has had his days but injuries have taken his career away from him. Al Habsi is Buffon compared to Kirkland piengravy
(check Northampton at home to Hereford yesterday)
Had Northampton on the coupon, them and man utd let me down for 100 nicker, i was chuffed at half time but wanted to cry at full time
