Yeah nice one, another pat on the back and a ‘oh well at least we tried’. Another sickening loss where we had 2 shots all game with any venom. Get rid of the patient shite and we might have a chance. Press up the pitch, work harder, get the full backs higher up the pitch and SHOOT.
Dont take this the wrong way BUT do you know who we played tonight and how much they have spent, they are pushing for the title and going to get in champions league, they put 6 past manure at old trafford,so to lose 1-0 is no disgrace they could have put our goals against into orbit.Yeah i am gutted we have lost but i didnt expect to win but thought we may sneak a draw[/quote]
Yeah I know full well how we played etc etc but if we are just going to be happy to be bottom and throwing the old ‘well we did try this time’ line out we’ll never get anywhere. 15 point in 21 games; we’ve won 1 in 11 at home. I’ll stick to the facts that are presented and we aren’t good enough.

1) Do you think that at times this season and the previous 2, when the players get it right on the field, using bobby’s tactics, they look nowhere near relegation material?
At times yes we have looked like a team who could finish further up the bottom half but at times ‘Bobby’s tactics’ have been a major reason why we haven’t got it right.2) If you said yes, do you not think then we just might need to get some consistency and perhaps a more potent striker, to change things around.?
You say just get consistency like it is easy to do. I have 2 mindsets for this, our players don’t work hard enough and they don’t look fit enough or they are playing within themselves and feel restricted in displaying the best parts of their game. A potent striker will always help but we will be in the market with the least money and aren’t an attractive option. We have Ronnie Stam playing the ball in behind the back 4 but the hold-up play earlier on means the centre forward has to be akin to Usain Bolt to get beyond the defence to finish off. You only need to look at the chalkboard and opta stats about the number of passes we make around the box to know we hit the buffers when we arrive there3) If you said no, can you explain how we’ve managed to match and actually look even better than a times, the majority of clubs in the EPL over the last 2.5 seasons, even Man Utd for long spells in matches?
Teams at this level should always have a foothold in a game at some point. The facts speak for themselves in terms of games won, drawn, lost which is the be all and end all of a football club and is what helps run the ‘business’. I think a lot of the Martinez apologists have as much of a blinkered view of the future as those who paint it all as dark and dreary. We have some good footballers and athletes in the squad who I feel aren’t utilised correctly to bring out their strengths. There are far, far many occasions when things have been less than accetable and as a club in general the fans have stood by Martinez. Those that haven’t have not bothered attending which is fine as it leaves us to get on with trying to back the team. Three transfer windows Martinez wanted and he’s had it. No excuses for him now. I watch football for us to win games and be successful. If we don’t win I still turn up and hope we learn from mistakes by training hard and showing improvement for the next week. I’ve not seen that. Most managers talk about how Martinez tries to play the game in the ‘right way.’ That’s about as far as you will get. The depths some people go to flog a dead horse.
Hugo was sent off for the same last year or do our own fans forget this in favour of their ‘real’ side?
I’d class them as bad coaches. They might know the UEFA playbook inside out and can do tons of phases of play and 20×20 metre square drills but they can’t get their message across. It’s not like we are signing players under this regime and turning them into worldbeaters.
I think it’s got to the stage where it doesn’t matter who comes in. I think the players would respond to a different voice. I’ve never been an advocate of this style of play anyway. We have some exciting, athletic players who have a lot more to give than they do in this set of systems and tactics.
I dont really give a **** about what others think about us but I know that after every defeat we have at the moment I feel absolutely bloody devastated! Is it too much to ask for those who have our fate in their hands to at least show a bit of passion and a bit of fighting talk? We can only do so much as fans before some of the finger pointing has to be taken on board by Roberto. A bit of humility from him wouldn’t go amiss. I don’t want to hear about ‘congratulating Swindon on their performance’ or ‘we were unlucky’ I want to hear some blunt answers from someone who seems incapable of doing so.
Bottom line is his time should be up. 9 changes where the majority were players signed by Martinez to ‘challenge’ for places in the starting 11. I’m worn out and tired from his philosophy. Roberto, thanks for 1995 onwards, your letter to the site about the love you have for the club and for 2 years of survival. Thanks for reducing the debt burden along with Whelan you’ve consilidated the survival of the club at least but it’s time to go.
Whatever you say about tonight for 45+1 minute we were all over them and the game completely changed on the stupid decision by Dean to award that free kick. Just our luck that it then flies int the top bag and changes the half-time team talk. The capitulation that a Martinez side is capable of sadly reared its ugly head again.
There were too many decisions today that need someone to be accountable for. Diame and Moses on the bench, why? Play them and then give them the Swindon game off. Also Moses is not and will never be a right winger so why was he wasted there in the second half? Diame for 4 minutes, again, why? Thought we played some good stuff first half but if we don’t score we always seem to have a blunder in us, giving us no cushion at all.
Gomez, McCarthy, Watson, Jones all play the same one-paced style that stops any form of quick and attacking football. Jones gets the ball wide, stops it, drags it back, turns again, drags it back and passes it inside when all what was needed was to open his body and whip one in.
Gohouri stays on the pitch to be an over-lapping right back and Stam is taken off. Again why? Get Jones off, Stam to RB, flat back 4 and we are changing with minimal fuss.
Alcaraz, garbage. Utter, utter garbage and I won’t let anyone tell me otherwise. We missed Caldwell tonight, at least he boots it long and doesn’t think he’s some kind of Messi clone.
Really gutted after that result tonight. We had a major chance to kickstart this season but have thrown it away. The home form is massively concerning now, we can’t buy a win against anyone and will in my opinion see us go down. Can only hope Martinez learns something tonight, anything and hope he goes out and gets the necessary reinforcements to come into the team. At the moment out starting 11 can make a fist of things but replacements like Gohouri, Maloney, Lopez et all just don’t cut the mustard.
I just don’t get what Roberto is trying to do. At no point when I purchased my season ticket did I ever think I would see David Jones playing left wing-back for starters! I said it the other week, his decision making just smacks of desperation now but if he can’t see that McCarthy deserves another spell on the bench then what little support I do have for him will just evaporate further. We got lucky last week with the win and it dragged us back into it a little more but it’ll probably be another 10 games before we have another win if the patterns of play stay the same.
Hull 0-5 Wigan
A Martinez team would never produce that against any level of opposition!
Too many fans still gloss over the individual errors the players in the team are making but Roberto’s job is to coach these out of them. If the same players keep making the same mistakes then that’s a massive downfall of a coaching team.
Every game we have lost this year has had a massive contribution from our own stupid errors, it just so happens yesterday we managed to get a foothold in the game and score 3 goals to cover some of the shockers we are making every single week. If you look at us now 1/3 of the way through the season, we seem to make 2 howlers a game consistently so now do we have to score 3 to even have a chance of getting anything? It seems so.
I don’t know what to think after that game. Blackburn are the worst side I’ve seen this season but on the other hand our defence in the centre is nothing short of disgraceful. Blackburn being so poor allowed us to get hold of the game and show what we are capable of (lead by Diame hustling everything). We clearly don’t know how to close a game out. I actually thought Moses on the left and Gomez on the right was Martinez realising that we need to go back to the ‘opposites’ of last year and then when Moses went back to the right he was shocking and it just didn’t look right.
We are a ‘thick’ bunch of players, we can’t be anything ‘but’ with the amount of individual errors that cost us week after week after week. This game will do us more damage mentally, putting all that effort in, stringign a half decent performance together, playing against 10 men, 55% possession, 21 shots and 7 corners, 3 goals!! It’s all there and we still didn’t win. Well done to them today but the ride is over.
I can see where your mate got confused, the bottom tier is all sold out and they’ve been selling tickets for the top tier. I’m in block 112 btw.
