I had a great day out at Shrewsbury and told one lad, bedecked in blue and yellow, that they had “just beaten the champions”. Add a red face to that gaudy kit and it isn’t pleasant
Please enter me
Whatever the crowd last night our fans were superb and have been all season
We won the cup for 80 minutes so it was a great starting line up
Subs were fine but Nick made one wrong decision. He is only young and in years to come we will be so chuffed that he played for us for a short while
Caldwell is our leader and he hit a penalty that was saved. Keeper guessed right
Crainey man of match in a team performance that was immense. We were playing one of the best teams in Europe
Shame their fans aren’t as classy
As we walked own to the Tube station to Harrow there were some real hard boys trying to antagonise families of Wiganers. I honestly think Milwall were better fans
Merry Christmas and a have Uwe YEAR
Beausejeur wasn’t playing, Crainey was the best since joining us, Gomez and Powell were our best players. 25 per cent of our fans don’t deserve to support our team
Off to bed to dream about fat birds and pies
Callum was one of main reasons we won the FA Cup. On his day he can obviously skin any full back but he is a young lad and will gain consistency as he progresses.
Why on earth should we get shut of such a promising, talented player.
As of Jordi, I am getting a bit pissed off with people getting on his back. He was our best player at the start of the season, but he has played a lot of games and looks a bit tired recently. He is a constant threat and not only set up Powell’s goal but created the chance for McCann, when he hit the bar against QPR. It’s easy to forget these things when you have a blinkered view and are waiting for him to drop a bollock.
It’s not tactical geniuses we need on this board and at the DW but people with a realistic view of who we are. We aren’t going to win the FA Cup every year.
Oh sorry I forgot, we are Real Madrid
Eh? You appear to have missed my point, but it’s not difficult to see which side you are on.
The majority of Prem clubs would have him as chairman instead of their Yanks and Sheikhs. He has thrown money at the club because he loves it.
Ninety percent of what Dave says is in support of Wigan Athletic. Shame you can’t show the same support, Sammy
I actually thought Man Utd were playing themselves the amount of times we got a mention. Actually Man Utd fans spend a lot of time playing with themselves.
Even North West Tonight were licking their lips at United’s “first silverware of the season”.
I agree it is a huge feeling of relief to be away from that nonsense even if it’s only for a year.
Man United at Wembley, Bolton away, Blackburn away, Burnley away, Huddersfield away, Blackpool away, Leeds away, Yeovil away, Brighton away, Feyenoord away, Hamburg away, Fiorentina away, retaining the cup … this is going to be a cracking season. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
It’s great fun with all our Geordie buddies on the BBC website :woohoo:
It’s easy to pull out of a tackle in slow motion. What I saw from the East Stand was a committed challenge which happened very, very quickly.
Callum won the ball and then collided with the player.
Well done Dave for speaking up. The media have jumped on the Newcastle bandwagon, anything to slate Wigan Athletic.
Anything that annoys Pardew suits me.
Thanks
I didn’t actually understand his reply, I though his budgie must have been on the keyboard!!
The problem is, Fil, that some of the criticism is just plainly abuse.
I suppose I am on the blind faith side. I will support Wigan Athletic through anything they throw at us and I support Roberto Martinez because I believe he has been and will be good for this football club.
My big problem is that some of the people whining and booing are simply being blind to the situation we are in. We are not a big club and, for that reason, we are not popular with the FA and fans of clubs with bigger fanbases and longer histories. We have also had an horrendous season with bad injuries and some appalling refing decisions. I sometimes feel we are under siege from the FA, refs, the media and other fans so my natural reaction is to defend my club. At times my arguements amy be completely insane but I will stick by my club.
So when I hear our own fans making abusive and non-constructive comments, and when I see them storming out of the ground with 15 minutes to go, I get a nark on. I was asking if there was a fire with 15 minutes to go on Saturday. The attitude appeared to be that people had either seen enough or were too upset to watch any more. That is not supporting your team. What kind of message is that sending to the players – “they don’t really support us, I’ll go to another club at the first opportunity.”
On Saturday I think we were a goal away from starting a good performance, but we were faced with three players who are so far out of our reach, financially, it is ridiculous – Suarez, Coutinho and Reina.
My blind faith says that I will support the team despite its limitations because I feel we are creating history and building a team here that we could never have dreamed of 10, 20 or 40 years ago.
No matter how much doom-mongers slag off my team I will support them in my own way. And I have every right to do that.
