This is a no story. It was a jokey remark made to a friend, how often have we all done that?
She had obviously been offered cash to stitch him up – Max Clifford’s involved for God’s sake.
Lineker has done the right thing. The Mail on Sunday are totally out of order and the story was published to do the maximum damage to the World Cup bid. Not topical just sneaky. For a Tory paper it is amazing.
Let’s not forget that most of the red tops will have anti-England stories lined over the next couple of months. Every bit of tittle tattle will be blown out of the water.
It wouldn’t be a bad idea to organise a fans’ boycott of the MoS, just to put the frighteners on the other papers before they try to cock up our chances. Because that’s what they are doing even though they claim to support the country.
The Match of the Day panel in E6 cleared off early because “filling the washing machine was more interesting” (3 times, in case anyone missed it).
And they missed the goal! Ha, ha, ha, ha.
Days like yesterday are what supporting Wigan Athletic is all about. Rollercoaster rides but the highs are well worth waiting for.
I don’t think the pro-Martinez (vast) majority have been hysterical in their support. Quite the opposite, they have shown patience in the face of extreme pessimism and nonsense.
Supporting any football team has its downside particularly if you are outside the top two in the Prem.
This isn’t blind support and if the revolution has come off the tracks next season then I’ll be after some answers.
However until that point, this season, I will support my team and I will shout down anyone who wants to abuse my team or its players, whether they be Wiganers or any opposition supporters.
Getting back to the historical point – if this was a siege of our little town in the Middle Ages you lot would have buggered off without a fight a long time ago.
