They’re getting excited cos they’ll have a bigger total attendance than ever before.
Has nobody told them that if the matches were played at usual home venue’s there’d be more on? As for spreading the game, having it half an hour from most of the teams, isn’t really the idea is it?Greatest game in the world…my R’s.
Wiganers moan at anything what is going to cost them money jesus people were making excuses for not going to the fa cup finalThat told you everything you needed to know about the town of Wigan as a whole (not necessarily Latics fans). Although unlike Millwall and others, we could say at least all our Cup final support were genuine fans, you’d expect that the some of the town would have got on the bandwagon for the biggest sporting event in the history of Wigan to make up the 25,000….but no, a fair chunk of the town made no effort to get down there and sat on its collective backside (probably in King St etc)
Not having a go at any genuine Latics fans who couldn’t get there for whatever reason, as we all know the prices were ridiculous and not everyone could make it.
Yes its been an expensive season…..but £20 for a home game and people are moaning. Isn’t this what we as fans should want, all these games and excitement following the lads. Get your backsides down there next week and cheer us on to glory.
“Wiganers in not knowing when they’re on to a good thing shock”
So proud of the lads yesterday. Would have bought Barnett on for Caldwell and thought Maloney rather than Powell might have been the better change at that point. As for the Caldwell taking the first one, surprised at that, but its a lottery, so who can say Jordi takes the first one and scores?
All in all, we were 8 mins (plus injury time) from getting to the final as cup holders, suggests that we did things pretty well, until that split-second when Mertersacker gets free and equalises.
Just another great day in the history of our amazing little club, this one didn’t quite work out…but what a ride its been getting there and maybe more to come under Uwe.
Thanks for making us Believe…..proud to be Wigan Athletic FC
Think making excuses for not going is just a typical Wigan thing (Latics or eggmen)…all clubs have them, just seems that Wigan has more than other places. Course there are bound to be people who can’t get there (work/money) or whatever, but sadly there’ll be far more who just can’t be bothered. Still if its 16k then its above our average attendance so that’s not too bad.
Not sure how many they had left, but wonder if the press will give Hull City fans stick for not selling all their tickets and being outnumbered by a 3rd division side? Me thinks not
Heard this on Tuesday, only difference was I was told he’d actually gone back, not that they don’t want him back till next week.
18,000 gates, Redknapp in charge, bigger wage bill than Borussia Dortmund, what is they say about a fool and his money?
They might as well start again as FC Shepherds Bush or something if Fernandes jacks it in.
How about “FA cup Holders, we know what we are”?
Even worse than the Cup Final being at 5.30, its been decided to keep that as its what the fans wanted according to the ex-Brentford chairman Greg Dyke….expected better than that from a football person.
Obviously been caught up in the “money is everything” culture….every real football fan in the land loves the tradition of the FA Cup Final being last game of the season (playoffs/internationals apart) and being at 3.00 pm.
Not sure about that….remember going to Walsall (Rioch era I think), if I’m right, we played a team that had 4 centre half’s and full backs in the line up…2 of the other 3 players were David Lowe and keeper (Carrol?), cant remember the 11th person
Isn’t the original kept at Wembley…sure I once read somewhere that the winning team lift the one the FA hold at Wembley and are given a replica before they leave the stadium…may be wrong, but think we get a replica to keep once the other goes back in March
I see we’re now comparing a World Cup Semi Final with a semi final between a second division club and Premier League club (kicking off at 5.30 pm)….hardly a fair comparison.
As for last night, England RL team playing at the home of the most loyal RL fans in the world (according to a certain Mr Lindsay) in a RL town (press spouted constantly), with 4 or 5 SL clubs within 20 miles of the ground and over 10% of the stadium is empty….hardly a ringing endorsement of the (so called) best game in the world is it MWD?
Wouldn’t want Redknapp anywhere near our club, first opportunity for more money he’d be off, QPR in relegation trouble he signs a defender who admits he isn’t fit, not to mention how expensive his wages would be. and what he would want to pay players. He’s bankrupted almost every club he’s been at, spent millions and done very little as a manager in the game.
No thanks
Will be keeping an eye on Scotland, only because I know their manager and he and his family are big Latics fans
Whatever the “myth” surrounding the Warriors has been, May 11 2013 and September 19 2013 have blown it to pieces. One was us playing in European competition, something WRLFC will never do and the other was quite simply the biggest piece of sporting history this town has ever seen.
We win the most famous domestic knockout sporting competition on the globe, watched by half the world’s population, while the best they can do is a game 20 miles down the road (in a football stadium) and a cup final at Wembley probably watched by less than 0.01% of the FA Cup final audience.
As for the talk of the Ipswich attendance, warm Friday night, 1 game away from a Grand (lol) final and empty seats everywhere.
We can argue all day over which is the town’s biggest club, but as for the more well known one, that’s just not debatable.
