About 5 shots before sending off I reckon. The last ten playing against ten men papered over what was generally a bloody woeful first 80 where we barely mustered a shot on goal. Pass pass pass with no threat whatsoever when we approached the area time and time again. It’s tedious and obviously won’t get us success in this division. Why Junior is on the bench I have no idea and one positive was the threat Holt caused when he came on. Every game is the same. What exactly is Caldwell learning week in week out? In a Holt v Waghorn arguement it’s difficult to make a case for Waghorn given that in 7 years in English football he scored 34 goals in total. Funny how his record has suddenly improved against part timers in a piss poor league. Holt on the other hand has over 150 to his name, scored the most goals in the Premier league one season by an English striker and won player of the year at the club he represented three times on the running during his stay there. Hard to see Waghorn ever reaching those heady heights that’s for sure playing Dumbarton! The defending for their second goal was pathetic. Nobody prepared to put their body on the line. Hard to get excited at minute with the style of football presented. No real penetration due to ball being moved too slowly in final third. The four points dropped from winning positions in last two mean 3 points on Saturday are vital. And to underline the fact that the league the superstars Tavs and Wags play in is non league standard tonight they are getting a beating at home against the might of St Johnstone who average just over 2000 fans. What a step up! It’s my take on it because 2 goals in almost a 1000 minutes of football (as you point out) for a striker is poor. He also contributed nothing outside of the area, was weak as piss, struggled with the pace of the game and couldn’t trap a bag of cement in the limited time he had with us. Still. Let’s just pretend he was a bloody world beater who would have taken the league by storm! Dress it up how Ya want. Was still wank for us! Bigroy so you were happy with that today and all the other games the only game we have played well in this season was Scunthorpe thats what were capable of so why the change in tactics and cautious approach , yes were 7th but the big teams would say thankyou for the 3 points.I’ve accepted that it’s gonna take longer than initially expected to bed in an entirely new set of players and have therefore adjusted my expectations for the early part of the season. If that performance was in March I may be more critical (though 3 points is generally the aim). As entertainment the fayre on offer is of a higher standard than that which we have had to suffer in recent seasons. Having watched us suffer in the bottom 4 of leagues for 75% of the last ten years it’s certainly nice to finally go into games knowing a win is more possible. So after a season where we hardly won a game, with 21 new players currently bedding in we find ourselves 7th in the league with an unbeaten home record having conceded a single goal. Bloody rubbish Caldwell. Ostrich. Barrel. BOOM!!! Sorry Horc, I was just having a bit of fun with Biglad in answer to thisOh Aye. With 8 goals in 64 appearances between them am sure the goals would be flying in!
Since they left the goals have been flying in which sort of answers your own question why they didn’t do it here and are doing it versus some of the powerhouses of European football. Anyway why the long face Horse I mean Horc? Flying in? Are they really? Riera scored 4 goals in 21 games after leaving us last season, Delort 2 in 14. At a goal to games ratio of one every six games I guess it’s a small improvement on what they managed for us in the Championship! All horses look fast passing trees! Oh Aye. With 8 goals in 64 appearances between them am sure the goals would be flying in! Nah. The million pound fee and the contract handed to Grigg would have covered Waghorn no problem had we really wanted to keep him. Facts are we didn’t. And we would win the Scottish Championship. Based on opinion and bugger all else. Reason MK Dons didn’t sign Grigg is that they couldn’t afford him. They placed several rejected bids but couldn’t come close to ours.
