None of the games can come quick enough for me at the moment – and although the Cup Final will be huge fun, I just want to fast forward to the last game of the season and hope we’re still in the running to survive.
I said 12 months ago that he’ll go to utd, and I’ll stand by it, he’s just the sort of player fergie likes, he’s just what they need if Anderson goes, be good business all round, and good luck to him.
I think he’s just what United need. Good luck to the lad.
i would take winning the f.a.cup on penalties anyday, but imagine the nerves having watched 90 minutes, 30 minutes extra time and then a penalty shoot out doesnt bear thinking about
Yes..still win the cup whether its penalties or whatever.
That will turn into a very early morning back home (2-3am…) who cares when we’ve won..but that’s a long journey home if the unthinkable happens :(
Especially when I’m up at 8 to go to Hull the day after.
So just don’t bother going to Hull ;)
As the instigator of this thread that has gone wildly off piste, I shall attempt to bookend it with my 2 penneth!
It’s not just financial reasons though.
I can afford to go to both, but given that I’m going to Wembley twice in a month and to Wembley, Arsenal and home to Villa all in the space of a week, and probably watching the Swansea game in the pub, and at least one away game hopefully in a random remote city in Europe, I think it’s only fair to my wife and 2 young kids that I spend some time at home with them.
In fact, having been to the semi, experienced new Wembley and got into Europe I was even considering not going to the final and enjoying the occasion at home with family and friends on a big screen and with a BBQ as I wanted to share the experience with my kids. The 5.15 kick off and peer pressure put paid to that though ;)
Yes the team needs our supportand would no doubt benefit more from 3000 rather than 1000, but even though I could be there I won’t as often other things, financial and non financial, are more important.
Mick McArthy, he’ll get us out of the ChampionshipYeah – and then get us relegated following season
Well, she ain’t singing yet but she’s definitely clearing her throat. In all probability we’ll have to get something at the Emirates after tonights result. With our horrific injury list at the moment I just hope that someone can come in and play out of their skin ala McManaman, but it’s getting harder to stay positive!
Ben Watson is our dark horse – watch this space B)
only requires one team to lose three in a row ,and for us to win two out of four
that simple reallyQuite possibly your most positive post ever – if the subtext wasn’t bathed in so much sarcasm ;)
We need 3 wins out of 4 games to stay up :(
We only actually need 2.
It’s getting thinner by the minute but I’m keeping the faith.
Correct – points will be dropped by others though 3 losses in a row for even just 1 of the 4 teams above us is still a big ask. I just about still have faith too.
Still 5 whole points ahead of us though – I know which position I’d rather be in at this stage of the season.
With 4 games to go, by my above reckoning we can realistically expect 4 more points:
1 win, 1 draw, 2 losses = 36 points, which is 1 point better than 9 games ago.
But, by the same reckoning Villa will end up on 38. Which means realistically we need 2 more wins and a better GD, or 2 wins and a draw to stay up.
It’s still doable.
Like ABL, I was expecting zip, so I guess it’s a point gained, but am on the floor after what could have so nearly been a massive 3 points and the loss of yet another defender. Don’t think I’ve ever known us have such 5hit luck.
I also think we’ll be 5 points shy by 10pm Monday – can’t see Sunderland pick up a 3rd win on the trot away from home against a Villa side buoyed by today’s draw.
On the plus side, it sounded like we has a 3rd great performance on the trot, but this time managed to find the net and bag a result.
Arky – Cockneylatic’s very own Kaiser Sose
I think we can get a result on Saturday, but given that Tottenham are well and truly in the Champions League mix, I am expecting to lose – that way, I don’t get too down-hearted when it happens and everything else is a bonus.Bizarrely that’s the weird philosophy I approach a lot of things in life. Expect the “worst”, because in the likely event it doesn’t happen whatever does happen doesn’t seem quite as bad. I call it “reverse optimism”.
Why on Earth should we let them have a big vocal support? Give the minimum required.Agreed. Is 3000 the minimum as even that sounds high.
I’m a Sunderland fan on Monday that’s for sure.I wouldn’t go that far  But yes, Villa losing is the best result for us. Can’t see Canio bagging 3 on the trot tho.
