You wanna try coping with them daily as a pedestrian and driver in London mate.
Am sick to death of the pavement hopping, no lighting, black wearing, traffic light and zebra crossing jumping, traffic weaving, wrong lane riding, limp arm signal waving “environmentalists”.
At least make anyone who wants to cycle take a test and possess a licence and a registration plate like any other road transportation. That’ll soon cut the numbers down and improve safety.
For a minute there I thought you’d resurrected an old thread about Victor Moses!
Flabbergasted – and a real shame that we no longer have the amazing statistic of 2 ex-players managing in the Prem. Best of luck in your next job Nigel.
The ensuing instability there can only be good for us though…although I’m still hoping Saints stay up.
Grow up. Past evidence clearly shows that a win was actually less likely than a loss.
And since when did we become a “Bertie big bollox” prem team and assume we have the god given right to beat lower league opposition? If that was the case we might as well hand the cup to Manure now.
Lest we forget where we came from…oh that’s right, you weren’t born then were you?
I imagine there’ll be a fair number of London folk wanting to watch Utd…
tickets on sale this thursday 9am to season ticket holders…only £14 on the standing terrace……gonna be a scramble at the office this one…..can’t wait…. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:Surely one for the TV cameras too?
their confidence helps them find that extra energy and momentum.
No it doesn’t.. we aren’t playing FIFA.. If a players body is tired then it’s tired.. Playing well doesn’t magically heal them.

I used to play union at a high standard and played competitive games weekly on a saturday and sunday snd trained every day of the week. When we were winning I couldn’t wait for a week to pass before the next match; when we were losing I didn’t want to get out of bed and pulled any old excuse not to train.
These are premier league players who shoukd be fit enough to play every week and the odd midweek game. Funny how teams that are winning week in week out don’t seem to get tired – it always seems to be the excuse of the struggling teams.
Anyhows, we won. Roll on Saturday, when I’m sure Figs, Boyce and Stam will all be playing ;)
Phew.
Sounded like we were under the cosh for almost all of the 2nd half. There are a lot of IFS and BUTS… But If Roberto believes resting players IS the way to go and believes it will help us survive, then fair enough.. If his aim is to try and keep us in the league above all else then that is his decision.. We shouldn’t question it.I think we’ve every right to question it if we end up losing tonight AND then go and lose again against Sunderland on Saturday.
When a team is winning players want to play and their confidence helps them find that extra energy and momentum. We should be building on the strong performance agaisnt Fulham by playing a strong team tonight, winning, and then having the same players taking the confidence gained from tonight into the match on Saturday.
Paper talk suggest that the squad is mainly full of the “reserves”, but that Bob has issued a warning to all the team and Mauro in particular. As such, I will be furious if we don’t win and will be even more furious if we then don’t go and snatch all 3 points on Saturday.
However, I can’t shake this feeling that we’re going to be embarrased…again.
My point is that we play 3 4 3 and tend to play 3 recognised strikers within that. Having lost one of our first choice strikers you’d expect one of our other 3 strikers to slot in. Even if they don’t start:
wouldn’t you expect one of them to be introduced either:A – when we’re searching for an equaliser but can’t convert? Maybe not as Bob doesn’t tend to think that way)
B – when we’re looking for a winner and just need a fresh outlet. Surprisingly not given Bob’s attacking-mindedness.Why have 3 on the bench and not use one?
As for Boselli specifically, he really has not had any proper chances. Had Bob (after making noises about given players their chance) actually played him in the Prem when he it a bit of form early season and for longer than 10min as a late sub then maybe we might have seen better results from him, but poor service to him when he has played is also a factor.
Don’t get me wrong – I’m pleased with a point, but think Bob could have easily made better starting selections and subs to earn us a win.
Garbage as usual, time for a change, let me be the first to say it.MARTINEZ OUT,I await the Martinez mafias reply goodpostSo if it was no surprise then why have you wasted your and all our time posting your unconstructive bollox?
I’ve not been happy since Palace away 2 seasons ago about the contempt Martinez shows for cup games and the disrespect he and his players show to fans that take the trouble to find the cash and energy to turn up.
However, whilst I think 9 changes were a step too far, I think we had no choice but to make wholesale changes especially with our bogey team/ground coming up in a must must must win game.Instead it gave a chance to measure up our fringe players and whilst they didn’t appear to give that good an account of themselves, they could be excused for rarely playing together against an in form team. In fact looking at respective form, league positions and players todays game could easily resemble a game between 2 teams at the top and bottom of the Championship.
Furthermore we blooded a number of new faces (Dicko included). I’m also sure that the likes of Stam, Gomez and esp Boselli didn’t want to get injured in a small cup game when they are likely to be called on for Prem games.
I also bizarrely think that a replay is a better result than a win as it gives our fringe players more competitive game time and a chance to redeem their sorry arses.
So all in all it WAS surprise to me that we didn’t lose and are in the draw later today. Who knows, maybe knowing who we’ll be playing next will act a some motivation to win the replay?
whelan = no ambition = sell your best = no to attracting new fans = doesn’t learn from season before
= when i get parachute money fook you im off
enough saidUrgh – I musn’t bite, I mustn’t bite, I musn’t…oh sod it
No ambition? Hmm…4th tier to top tier in 10 years
Sell your best – been doing that long before DW; only sure fire revenue stream
No new fans – Hmm…avg attendances of c1800 to c18000 in 10 years
Not learning – isn’t that more the manager’s responsibility?
Parachutes – a drop in the ocean compared to £ staying upI’m certainly no Whelan sycophant, but depending on how you measure success you could argue that over the last 20 years we’d have a strong case of being one of the most successful clubs in Europe if not the world…and much of it down to, for the most part, sensible (if not ruthless) decisions of one man.
“Stoke yes, but Norwich and Swansea I dont buy that. We have had 8 years in this league ot build a team, and have a good first team if they stay fit. We have been lucky in recent years and our poor squad is coming to haunt us.”
That’s right Edinburgh – ONLY 8 years in arguably the toughest and most expensive league in the world and with the lowest revenue streams. We spent a total of 8 years in the fourth tier and 11 + 6 years in third tier, where it took some major investment disproportionate for that division to get ourselves out. We then only spent TWO seasons in the 2nd tier before reaching the lofty heights we now find ourselves in.
I’m sure disproportionate investment in this division would have helped us build a team over 8 years (look at at Chelsea and City), but I doubt we’d have a club to show for it (look at Portsmouth). So 8 years of survival (divisional and financial), whilst often frustrating and demoralising, is actually a bl00dy amazing achievement. And if we can stay up this year, bank the bumper TV money from next year with balanced books then maybe just maybe we can start to build a team on some solid foundations and in line with the time it took us to escape the lower 2 divisions.Whenever I watch an English first or second division match on telly I give up after 20 mins as it looks like the players are playing in flip flops and kicking a beach ball about. Woeful football just woeful. :woohoo:Not normally like you JR to belittle the leagues that we’ve spent the best part of our league history in. And perhaps a little hypocritical given that our performance at Norwich last week wasn’t even good enough for the Blue Square.
