I think you’re being a bit too critical Appley. First half vs Saints was a lot worse than anything today.
We started very well, had to compensate for Jean B going off and took control even when pegged back to 1-1. Di Santo’s goal was v classy.
It was always going to be very tough playing our game vs a barrage of route 1 – you just can’t legislate against those sorts of tactics, esp when you only play with 3 at the back.I am getting sick of this programme. Last season a little part of me was hoping we’d go down just so I wouldn’t have to watch thus dross for at least a season.
How does our 2-2 draw get last billing when Swansea v Sunderland’s 2-2 is up first, and we also end up last after Spurs’ drab 1-1??
Never mind the fact that even in our eight season we still only get a split second in the opening “credits”.
So pleased we’ve progressed through to the next round with a convincing performance.
Highlight for me (despite some individual errors in places) was our strength in depth. For the first time in a very very long time we’ve got a a “second string” starting line up that could, if required, quite easily pass as a reasonable Prem starting line up.
Not bothered at all that Moses has gone – bar those goals at the end of the season how much of a job did he REALLY do for us?
Yes he may flourish like Valencia in a better squad, but somehow I doubt it.
Am also liking the fact that we now have a more balanced, level team with no single individual being touted as our star player, but many who could grow into that role…fingers crossed that one of them is Boselli.
I never realised Southampton was a city or such a big place until I went there about 3 years ago to visit her indoors family.Theres a really big shopping centre in the centre, and yes, it is a University city.
Her relatives actually live on Hill Lane, which is a long leafy road full of big houses. They are pretty well off (millionaires) as they run a bespoke shoe business and shop. The Dell, or rather the site of it, was just down the road and as we were going home one day, we were parked in traffic and I noticed a block of flats named ‘Le Tissier Court’ I questioned it and was informed that it was where The Dell used to be.
How bizarre – my missus’s family live just up from Hill Lane near the common. We’re staying there over the weekend, so I’ll be walking to the ground from theirs via the station to pick up some fellow London Latics just after 1.
Let us know on here Appley if you end up choosing a boozer.
Wasn’t Mark Hughes last seen masquerading as a Premiership football manager?
I just hope we can pick up our first point/s. How would people feel about a zip-zip draw? :woohoo:Donchy’all mean a zip-zip tie?
Oh no – not another pun thread! We need to call time on this now. Someone ring the bel, fast!
Agreed – and I hope Whelan has said the same to his face.
Maybe this more public, personal dig will get him to wake up.I’m hoping there’s history made at Wimbledon tomorrow.Good luck in winning your record equalling 7th title Roger.
Here here!
Rusedski was more of a Brit than that miserable, English hating Scot. The more the merrier ;)Not in some parts of the West Stand ;)
looking forward to seeing him on MOTdMore likely to be on Snatch of the Day I reckon
Managed to get some tickets off Mr D Turpin , but well worth the price. The boys have still got it , and because we went on the Saturday we had Oasis ( minus Noel ) thrown in. B)
Had the pleasure of seeing them on Friday.
Whilst musically not the best gig I’ve ever seen (hence my cheeky other post about them still being an album band), it was wonderful to finally see/hear them live and just dance with a lot of other very happy people for 1.5 hours.
I did also find myself shedding a tear at the end as the fireworks went off to Redemption Song.
Hmm – and I wonder what these newly accepted fans will do if we also go the same route as Blackburn next season, or if they come back up?
The sooner the FA introduce a salary crap the better.
