Is it me or was that first half tonight against the mighty Costa Rico a total bloody bore. Like watching paint dry.
Too much passing again!!!There was a fair bit of that donny and not a lot of goal mouth action.
But to be fair to Southgate we are going in the right direction. New team that will only improve in my opinion. Quite looking forward to the world cup nowLad at work said we’ve sold as many this season as we have since dropping out the prem. Have the club said anything about sales so far? Would be a big jump if correct.
Yep. Disgusting, embarrassing and I hope that neither of them wear the shirt again. I expect them both to be suspended on Monday, pending a club investigation, and then sacked. As Sam is leaving at the end of the season, then it saves the club a few quid on his marquee salary (that he doesn’t deserve). Joel has been a complete flop since returning from Union and his dismissal will be no great loss. They are both nowhere near the standard they were before the $$ and ££ of Aus and RU was waved under their noses. It is an embarrassment to the club and the town. Its right up there with the “Racist Chairman” incident. Clearly, as it is a minority sport played by a few pit villages along the M62, then it wont get as much publicity as DW did for his ill-advised comments, but that doesn’t make it any more embarrassing to the Wiganers.
Interesting how you’ve dragged WAFC into this Wigan Rugby League Embarrassing situation mutty..
No similarities whatsoever to Whelan’s naive appointment & comments to these two drunken idiots, if that’s all they were!
If these were to Premier League players then it would be front page news. But as you say rugby is a minority sport hence the lack of interest from the media.
So why don’t you trot off to a cherry n white site..
Nearly everything about the day was fantastic….
Bad bit, screaming blokes behind me telling fans to kin get off the ****** pitch. They were worse than the old blokes invading the pitch..Best bit, Dave Whelan pulling up at the side of us at traffic lights in Doncaster
It was indeed a great idea & a brilliant day out. Let’s hope they do it again next year :)
Tough one. Morsy would put his body on the line for the team, Byrne great prospect!
People’s memories fade, Kenyon was wrong un. He was out for himself & his other businesses when he owned us and everything he did benefitted him, nobody else.
Hope he gets a bad reception!I might just be a boring old fart, but I struggle to understand why people have to drink when going to a game. My dad’s theory is a lot of blokes do it because they’re hen pecked and away from the dragon for a few hours, so it’s their chance for a drink.
I’d sooner stay sober watching this team of ours. Plus, I have two young uns with me so it’s not like I’m on a jolly with the lads. And the cherry on the cake, I’m driving to Doncaster, so that’s me strictly on Pepsi anyway!Enjoy your drink…. But not too much that it ruins your day.
I take the kids everytime I go away & don’t miss drinking but there’s nothing wrong with every now & again enjoying a few beers with the mates. Especially if you’ve a chance of winning the league…
delusions of grandeur me thinks. Sunderland may get decent crowds but that doesn’t stop you from getting relegated, so it means little in the grand scheme of things.
Think most tics would be amazed if Cook left for Sunderland.
Was gutted we didn’t win the league on Saturday, wanted to enjoy Doncaster but now it’s going to be a very nervy afternoon.
You can read what you want into Cooks interview after the win at Fleetwood but it certainly sent out the wrong vibe to me. It sounded more like a man who’d had a bad experience with previous new owners and is on his toes now were certainly going to be taken over now were in the Championship next season. He’s old school and some of these large companies take over not fully understand the management, staff, fans as a whole. You only have to look at director of marketing and communications, Richard Kenyon at Everton. Clueless or been told to whichever, it still shows certain owners treat it more like Asda than a football club, all about margins and what do the customers think of A/B/C.
I think Cook knows more about what’s in the pipe line next season and to me it sounded a little like he wasn’t that overwhelmed after what happened with the Pompey takeover. There’s at least 6 players not good enough for the Championship, I just hope there’s a 1/2 decent kitty on the table from the new owners to stabilize the club rather than end up a yo-yo club.
I give him 9.5/10 I would have give him 10/10 if we’d of beat a pish poor Southampton , , not a lot to ask was it Cooky !! :)
well done I hope there’s a good few years left for him at Wigan and the new owners back him to the hilt. If they do ? looking at the likes of Cardiff, Derby and Millwall all knocking on the door there’s hope for us allCan’t believe nobody else has picked up on Cooks comments, what a time to say that?
Hopefully it was a warning to the new owners?Caldwell because as some said was a new squadIt was a new squad, but it was built on Prem money. It was the lowest points tally of the three too so not sure 15/16 can be classed as the best.
For me Caldwell tainted that season with the unprofessionalism he showed with that last week and allowing the players to go on the piss all week. Which resulted in a humiliating home defeat on the final day in front of a massive crowd… Not to mention the slowest after match trophy parade of all previous title wins..
So which one was the best? For me, Jewell’s team. Simply because the core of that squad was the same one that took us up two years later and very nearly managed it back-to-back. This years side will smash several of the records that Jewell’s side set but I think the standard was also slightly better back then with 5 or 6 genuine contenders.
IF this team can compete in the Championship then they may just edge it going forward. Trying to pick a team between the 2 squads would be interesting.
For me it’s this season..
Stats wise this season betters them of 2002/03 on nearly all fronts.
We’ve scored 86 goals this season compared with 68 in 02/03.
Goals against, pretty opposite of 02/03 really. Only 10 at home this season which is fantastic. Conceded 16 in 02/03. 17 away but only 10 conceded in 02/03.
We are one win short of equalling 02/03 (29) with 3 games left
Drawn 9 this season compared with 13 in 02/032002/03 was a fantastic season and who’d have thought so many players from that squad would have gone on to hold their own in the top two flights of English football?
Going forward depends on how many we keep from this squad. Personally I think we’ve got 7 who could hold their own in the Championship.
Next three games are the most important, if we win them then we are champions.
Fleetwood won’t be easy tomorrow what with them appointing the mad one. Let’s hope there’s no cigar for them..
Best home form in the league.22 13 7 2 36 10 +26 46
Not bad for being so called crap at home.
And who is it that says we’ve been crap at home? :pinch:
