Which team will suffer the most ?
I think that we will bounce back to beat Burton. They then have to play Colchester A, Gillingham H, Doncaster A. Two very tough games in amongst those three matches. Thus I think Burton could slump and be overtaken by Walsall. As for the Latics, it will be roller coaster stuff but we will do enough to get up !
Our recent form against relegation threatened teams isn’t very good so maybe we should have expected dropped points yesterday? Good thing is we seem to do better against the better teams, so fingers crossed we will get something at Burton.
Perkins suspension is a bit of a worry, will be interesting to see the line up on Tuesday. The minute Davies came on we where playing with ten men (hypothetically) he gives nothing to the team, Vucik would have at least give it a go.
Worst Latics performance of the season by a mile!Couldn’t agree more Bullitt, Davies offers nothing when he comes on. Would much rather see Vucik instead.
As disappointing as that result was it just might be the reality check we need? There was bound to be dropped points before end of season so let’s hope we get back on track Tuesday.
Still looking goog. We’re not the only club selling out in record time.. Could be worse, could support Leicester! :pinch:
I think on current form there is only Bradford who we need to worry about. The rest of the play off hopefuls form seems to be indifferent at the mo.
Not sure how this one will go as both are a bit up and down?
Drivel? Thought it was basic common sense that the adage ‘the early bird catches the worm’ rings true for ticket sales across the country. Call it complacency, a lack of wit or motivation. Facts are with our away support this season being so good it seems foolhardy to swan up at 12 asking where all the tickets have gone in a game that could have won us the league in Blackpool.Seriously hope the club gets more as would be ridiculous to see a half empty ground in a game that we could sell 5k+.
Did get of my arse on Saturday morning (as you put it) but had business in Bolton for 9am, hence me swaning up at noon. With, hindsight yes that was foolhardy but never have tickets sold so fast for Wigan.
And seriously, the league will be won before this game.Couldn’t agree more Donny, Mr Jewell was the best ever manager imo.
But I did like Ray Mathias..Bob seemed to change his tac tics at 28 games when he knew we were in the s***.. The last ten games were always good to watch under Bobs tenure.
For all this moaning think I’m misunderstanding the problem. Get a season ticket, get off yer arse in the morning and you will get all the tickets you need. End of. My best mate probably makes it to half of the home games but has a Season ticket so he knows he’s not paying on match days. He might go to about 8-9 away games a year. Reckon only about 500 of our fans have been to more than ten away games and I would be amazed if the lads that have shown such dedication weren’t sorted for Blackpool and Burton. Stop moaning. Buy a ST for peanuts at beginning of season then get out of bed. Jobs a good un!You really do post some drivel at times Roy… When have Wigan EVER sold 3k tickets in less than 3 hours!
I know there are a few season ticket holders that have been to 8-9 away games this season that aint got a ticket for Blackpool, but have tickets for Burton!
And not for being bone idle as you suggest.I really don’t give a monkey’s what Martinez has said in the press or whether it is right or wrong.
He’s talking about Everton, not Wigan Athletic, so it doesn’t interest me.
He hasn’t been our manager for three years, and we’ve (well some of us have) moved on.
I’m grateful for the FA Cup. And I’m grateful for the wins against Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City, Everton, Chelsea, Stoke on the last day of season, the battering of Newcastle at the DW, the win at Blackburn, and the amazing run of games to trigger The Great Escape. I’m I’m also grateful that he was a mentor to Caldwell, and has had an indirect influence on how the team currently play.
But without this thread, I wouldn’t dicuss the virtues of Martinez at all.
And no, I’m not going to post on this thread any longer…
I too am grateful for all those you mentioned. But what he did do was relegate us (fine given our budget, resources etc) then p155ed off. THAT is unforgivable. & how anyone can still hold him with high regard & want him to do well is beyond belief.
Bleedin ell Runcorn how can you say that about a guy that brought us our one & only historic win to date… THE FA Cup?
I agree that I’m not bothered what he achieves after leaving us, but we were always teetering on the edge of relegation so not entirely Bobs fault. Glad he went as his footy was totally boring, and that, the Everton fans are finding now! He’ll be gone sooner rather than later!I haven’t had a problem getting away tickets all season but missed out on Blackpool, and was at the ticket office for 12noon. Will probably go to Donny now but listening to one of the blokes buying tickets on Saturday Donny sounded pretty full itself??
Might be a while before we play Notlob again.
Can’t see them recovering anytime soon :woohoo:Currently Gillingham and Walsall can attain 86 points and 89 points respectively. Even if they draw Thesday Walsall can still get 87 meaning we are relying on more than Burton dropping points for us to win the league at the Pirelli or even gain promotion. If Burton get at least a point Saturday we technically can’t win the league at their ground as they will still be able to get 86 points regardless of their result against us.
And 86 points will still see them below us on goal difference. Like I said I don’t see Bradford dropping a point which includes them playing Walsall at V P. Officially we cant win it then but it would take one hell of a collapse by us and Burton going on an amazing scoring spree for them to overhaul us.
Correct NL, and our goal difference is worth that extra point needed to lift the title. Burton v Barnsley is a tough one to call as both seem to be struggling. I reckon a draw and if it is, and we beat Burton, then…… :pinch:
It is possible…
Gutted I didn’t get tickets for this match, hope Blackpool do give us more.
If…. When :)
Burton have two tough games next so when we meet that could be the one that sees us promoted.
Can’t believe how cheap they are, brilliant..
Let’s hope the town gets behind the club for next season and we get some bumper crowds -
