Although centre-back was probably his best position – and the one which Jewel signed him for – he was prone to errors.
A classic example of a jack-of-all trades but master of none.but every word he said was WE.Oui?
Not seen it but I take it he blamed everyone but himself for that, in typical Scharner fashion ?MOTD didn’t show his reaction. I think there’s a clause in his contract to that effect!
12 November 2010 at 1:55 am in reply to: Last Neet….WARNING, MAY CONTAIN PRAISE TO WAFC & BOB #50817Might I add that it was Thomas who got the ball taken off him day dreaming that led to Liverpool very nearly nicking it ! He played ok last night apart from that but I certainly wouldn’t say he is the most improved player ! In fact not too long back a few of us were suggesting that he is stealing a living !!I thought is was Diame who lost the ball, not Thomas, in much the same way he did at Blackburn when Roberts scored.
Paul Scharner has a clause in his contract at West Brom that he can leave for any one of 7 clubs that he has named should any of them make a bid. I’d say that speaks volumes about the fella.I doubt any of those seven clubs will be bothering when they see his cock-up last night that resulted West Ham’s equaliser.
well im still not impressed we were lucky to get a draw
poor crowd again awfull defending for their goal
not impressed one bitLouis disagrees with Simon, it seems.
i hope to meet griff also some day
we can share a beer argue about football shake hands and go home
if what you said was a veiled threat there are many you would need to go through first and i am one
we may have differences on football views and on here and dish out insults and stick -its not the real world -if you think anything other than that you are not welcome on here.

Aw, shucks. :oops:I feel like Gary Neville when Roy Keane covered his back when Vieira was picking on him. :geek:

Till about 5.00pm on Saturday i would imagine!to say that tonight was the best performance i have seen from a wigan athletic team for 3 seasons.A thumbs up from Simon Cowell.
Roberto will be delighted. ;)I think the more balanced view is that the system being played under Martinez has many deficiencies but he should be given a chance to get it right and make it work and that the greater of the two evils would be to sack him.
and my last ever questions on martinez – how long do you suggest we give him – christmas – until we are relegated -or until we are in a mid to low position in the championship. ?
we are the lowest scorers – second highest conceeded team in the league do we just plod on like that or change something ?

It’s not a case of how long WE give him, only one man will decide that and it seems he’s not for sacking him yet.
Chris Hutchins should never have been given the job in the first place. I never understood why Whelan did that unless it was a stop-gap until someone else was available.I think the more balanced view is that the system being played under Martinez has many deficiencies but he should be given a chance to get it right and make it work and that the greater of the two evils would be to sack him.
How long is a sufficient chance though???
IMO he’s had the best part of 18 months & is still making the same mistakes & showing the same inflexibility now as he was back in August 2009
As Griff says, we all make mistakes but you have to learn from them. Bobby seems to persist with the same ideas even when the majority of evidence shows that they aint working
Actually in his defence he does seem to have made significant improvements to the team defending (well we’re conceding less goals at leat) & the collapses so common last season & at the start of this seem to have gone too so maybe he is very slowly learning but just how long does he get given for his supporters to say enough is enough?[/quote]
I don’t know how long a “sufficient chance” is. I dare say many managers have been sacked without being given a sufficient chance. My view is that at this point in time to sack Martinez would be the wrong thing to do.I think the more balanced view is that the system being played under Martinez has many deficiencies but he should be given a chance to get it right and make it work and that the greater of the two evils would be to sack him.
I do not think Martinez is God. By the same token neither have I ever considered any previous Latics managers to be “God”.
You seem to be under an illusion that only you can see what’s wrong with Martinez and his system and anyone who tries to put forward a more balanced view is an idiot and knows nothing about football. It is arrogance of the highest order and is p!zzing people off. Are you doing it to wind people up? If so, then congratulations. You’ve succeeded.the trouble with all you martinez is god fans is it really is you lot that doesnt understand footballAnd who, precisely, are all these “Martinez is God” fans on this site? I’d like you to name them.
Definately brown.
Can’t be doin’ with the red stuff.
griff you know as well as me this thread is about my anti martinez stance on here – i know it gets his supporters hackles up but so what im not running for office –on your last point, yes i am, if it makes some on here feel a little better by throwing insults my way let them do so – i know that my arguements stand up to serious debate – and i have no problem defending my position – right or wrong ,i also have enough about me to not have resort to playground antics unlike some.
Well my post was quite clearly aimed at you LMB. I made some flippant remarks at your expense in an attempt to lighten things up. Playground antics I grant you but I use this forum for a bit of fun and therefore don’t take it too seriously.
