Were you in Duisberg?
Anyway, it’s the Finns who wander around in saunas wi’ nowt on.
There is no way I could defend the result on Sunday, this cannot happen again. Bobby has had his first season and go lucky, with 30 points to stay up it would have taken a poor manager not to keep us up this season. The obvious problems we have in the team are plain to see, we need to strengthen defensively, but buy a midfielder who can kill the game and tackle. Diame is a class act, but needs to be allowed freedom to go forward, he fails to stop midfield runs and then gives up too easily. We need a stronger strike force and back four who can play together as a unit.
The challenge is for Bobby to clean out the squad and bring a some experience in, maybe a full back or two who can stop crosses….. If this continues then off with his head….
Unfortunately, with maybe a couple of exceptions, Bobby’s record of trying to strengthen the squad, thus far, has fallen woefully short of the mark.
The positive bit? My five-year old – who has shown no real interest in football thus far – declared himself to be a Chelsea fan following their 7-1 win over Villa a few weeks ago. He was very pleased that they had gone one better yesterday. He also went to bed early with no supper. It is your duty as a parent to correct this immediately. Although I don’t envy you in the task of trying to convince a five-year old as to why they should support Wigan instead of Chelsea.
Quote from Bobby in that interview:“”It was a result that did not reflect what happened during the game,”
Oh yes it did
On to Saredt’s post. Man you’re scraping the barrel with some of them season “highs”
Doing the double over a team who came 19th is a high?????? Our performance at Hull away (a game they lost 2-1) is a high???????? Beating a fellow relegation struggling team (West Ham) 1-0 at home is a high???? Performance against Wolves at home (when we were dire & lost 1-0) a high??? Goals in games in which we didn’t win & lost in some????
Bloody hell if we use the same low criteria to judge the season lows we’d be here all day
He must be Bobby’s spin-doctor!
carol vorderman now theres a cracker had many a wet dream over her
I suppose they have to be older (quite a bit older) than you to quality but I also fancied Carol Vorderman. That was until she appeared on Question Time not too long ago. What an opinionated bitch she is. Toys well and truly out of the pram should anyone dare express a view different to hers.
Servicing Carol would be a nightmare. You’re doing it wrong. That’s not right. The wrong angle. Wrong tempo. Don’t do it that way, it’s not in accordance with the Second Law of Thermodynamics or something. No thanks.
Oh I don’t know Sammy….
climb on, call her ‘Trixie’ and then strap in for the ride of your life
Of course, I can say all that uncomfortable in the knowledge that it will never happen.
However, should someone knock on my door tonight in fishnets, suspenders, high-heels and a T-shirt with “Hi, I’m Trixie” across it, I’ll let you know how I get on.I’ll try to explain what I think happened – and why the decisions made were not that bad.Quite a few on this thread have said the “invasion” was a bit of fun, just celebrating, nothing at all etc etc.
That may have been your intention – but not everyone sees it like that. It would only have taken a few Hull fans to consider it provocative, taking the yellow water, showing we think we’re better than they are or whatever.
You must have seen some of them as they were leaving the ground. They aren’t jolly chaps waving a fond farewell to the Premiership – some are as up for trouble as some of ours are. Remember Stoke? Remember Northampton? Not to mention Millwall of course.
If they had decided to come on the pitch too then there would have been some, what papers call, “ugly scenes”. If there had then I trust you grown-ups would have accepted your responsibilities in leading youngsters into such a situation. Poeple (some young) would have been injured, the FA would have had an inquiry – and being Wigan and not a “big club” we could have been made an example of and had points deducted if it was serious enough.
So the match controller has a decision to make. Does he put lines of stewards along each stand – spreading the resource thinly, which as we know can then be broken through.
Or does he ensure that the two sets of fans are kept well apart, by doubling up on the North Stand – one line to keep them in, one to keep ours out. And it worked.
And maybe, just maybe, he hoped that our more mature supporters would have influenced the younger elements to stay off the pitch until the end. Unfortunately in that he was wrong. He couldn’t have foreseen that we would score in the last minute. He probably was prepared to accept (reluctantly) that the crowd would come on at the end – but not before. That is what was wrong.
And supposing someone had a knife (Copyright Sky Sports)

Don’t see any reason for any bans or punishment. I was NOT on the pitch and had no urge to run on. I also wasn’t booing them on the pitch. It’s just something that happened (At the wrong time on this occasion) .. But no harm came so it’ll all be alright in the morning. And to be honest, who really cares? I see this thread has got many posts as it is something to moan about  :D
Stop moaning about how many posts threads get ! :D
 Shocking! I moan about nothing! Still don’t see what the pitch invasion fuss is about though (I wasn’t on it, just wasn’t a big deal)
The problem about the pitch invasion was that a minority spoiled the moment for the majority. And, as someone else has already said, what was there to celebrate? If it had happened, say after N’Zogbia’s goal against Arsenal, then that would have been more excusable.
Silly people seeking an opportunity to get onto the pitch because it would somehow be accepted, being the last home game of the season.Very annoying, but not quite as annoying as that cringe-worthy Little Wigan thing played every time a goal goes in.
I am not a grown man as you put it (early 20’s myself). Thanks for that. I’ll be able to use that excuse when my son, who’s also in his early 20’s, gives me any grief.
I haven’t proofed it as I’m too tired and my eyes are hurting, but hopefully it can be understood. If you want the audio, email me..
Bobby interviewOn the subject of proofing it the following can’t be right:-
“but using Portsmouth at home as an example he (Martinez) went on to say it is about breaking teams down. Against Pompey we had come of (off) the back of a superb victory over Arsenal and then playing Pompey we couldn’t find a way through.”I want us to lose if it means United not winning the title. Just nothing like the Spurs game though. They didn’t exactly help us in 07 when West Ham beat them at Old Trafford on the final day. They certainly would not have lost that game had they needed to win the secure the title.
And don’t get me started on the thousands of ‘red’ Wiganers
I find it difficult to understand why you would want your own team to lose, especially at Chelsea, and even more especially given the high-profile status of the match and the world-wide audience it will attract.
Mind you, it really is academic since Chelsea will win, for much the same reason we were always going to win against Reading.
Just seen on front of paper too.I’ll be a bit sorry about that. She at least was with the club all the way up the leagues, and knows what it means to the ordinary supporter to be where we are.
Bring in a new-style Chief Executive who will see us (the fans) as a commodity for a world-wide brand name, and I think we’ll be worse off.
I think we should be grateful to Brenda for all she’s done.
I think Brenda must know where the bodies are buried!
However, as you rightly say, she’s been with the club through thick and thin and shares an affinity with all those who fondly remember the times past.
Is Mr Hayton not in the running?
What’s happened to Kingson btw? How can he be 4th choice behind both Stojković and Pollitt?
Relieved to learn it’s not taking notes then.
What isn’t?
Dunno. Can’t remember!See, someone else who obviously takes notes!
Can someone remind me what the first symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease is again?
Not taking notes? :?
